www.nytimes.com/2024/11/15/opinion/trump-gaetz-hegseth-kennedy-gabbard.html These nominations are confirmation of Trump’s authoritarian intent, of his desire to rule by fiat and act as a king. They are early evidence that he is exactly what his critics have said he is. They are a sign that he will, in fact, be a dictator on “Day 1.” Trump will devote his second term to revenge against his enemies while the oligarchs, ideologues and apparatchiks that staff his administration pursue their narrow ends and conspire against the public good.
But neither chaos nor dysfunction nor incompetence is an obstacle to Trump’s lawless intentions. If anything, they’re assets. A collapse in the actual capacity of their agencies to act will not stop these officials from doing everything they can to obey the president’s demands. They will aim to execute his objectives, no matter what the law says.
If the elevation of his acolytes is a signal from Trump, then the question of confirmation is a test for Republicans. Will they bend? Will they break? Will they show a backbone? If Republicans say yes to this group — or allow Trump his recess appointments, neutering the Senate’s constitutional right to give advice and consent — they’ll say yes to anything.
There’s no use holding your breath here, unless you want to suffocate.

And Kash Patel is being considered to lead the FBI. Just read this on CNN: Multiple sources familiar with the Trump transition process have expressed deep concerns about the possibility of Patel being named FBI director, where he would be well-positioned to try to investigate Trump’s political enemies, declassify sensitive information and purge career civil servants.
“Kash is frightening at the bureau,” one source familiar with internal deliberations about the role of FBI director. And Kash Patel is being considered to lead the FBI. or CIA maybe? he also pushed for the role of CIA director, which ultimately went to John Ratcliffe.

More in RFKJr.. HHS covers Medicare, Medicaid, what insurance companies cover or not. And whole host of other stuff.
Even if we are able to get vaccines he will be able to decide if ins should cover them. As the number of people getting vaccines declines the price might become prohibited for everyone to pay for them personally. If course, low income families etc al will be impacted far more.
People will become sicker this causing more hospitalizations...
Such a mess .

Nope, nothing wrong with this at all. Trump named his personal lawyers to top DOJ positions. He tried to use the DOJ as his personal law firm in his own term. This is going to be ten times worse www.nytimes.com/2024/11/15/us/politics/trump-lawyers-justice-department.html Trump Turns to His Personal Lawyers to Stock Top Ranks of Justice Dept. The president-elect intends to nominate three members of his criminal defense team to senior roles, raising further concerns about politicization of the department.
But until now, no president had ever nominated his own criminal defense team to top jobs in the Justice Department. And Mr. Trump’s choice of Mr. Blanche, Mr. Bove and Mr. Sauer runs the risk of turning the agency into something it was never meant to be: the president’s private law firm
This summer, some of Mr. Trump’s lawyers were seen in suites at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Daniel C. Richman, a former federal prosecutor and law professor at Columbia University, said that Mr. Blanche, Mr. Bove and Mr. Sauer could face significant conflicts of interest once they enter office.
As Mr. Trump’s personal lawyers, he said, they still have a duty to protect his interests in the cases they worked on, and that could present a problem if their responsibilities to the public pull them in a different direction.

Gaetz is by far the worst. I really hope that he is prevented from getting the job, although Republicans Senators quake whenever Trump barks. And I really hope that Patel is not installed at the FBI. And I am afraid that appointing Gabbard will prevent our allies from sharing intelligence with us. My hope is that he won’t be able to accomplish much. Someone joked that Trump will be rated as the worst and second worst presidents. Sadly, it really isn’t a joke.

I go back and forth between hoping he does all the things and the country implodes so we can once and for all rid ourselves of this MAGA disease, or protect myself and family and decent people from suffering.

Gaetz is arguable the most disgusting and least qualified, but from the persoective of “how much damage is that individual going to do,” I worry more about what RFK Jr is going to do to vaccines and prescription drugs, and Tulsi Gabbard having access to highly classified information. But honestly it is simply an “own the libs” slate of people. I am just not going to waste my energy. People voted for this BS, and they are going to get this BS. Congeats.

Great.... Whole cities would be wiped out because originally every one in a certain area their SS cards stared with the same number. So you could get through with an even ending number but caught with the odd first number.
Of course he claims this is in jest, but it is an idea that they have thought of...
Government can tell where you born by your number..

Ramaswamy wasn’t referring to SS recipients. In this interview with Lex Fridman, a Russian podcaster, Ramaswamy was referring to federal employees—who would stay in their jobs and who would be fired in successive rounds. Still a stupid proposition regardless. Unfortunately, this is the caliber of “advisors” we’re going to end up with.

The problem with our new HHS director is not just his fringe beliefs. It's the fact that the parts of his agenda that make sense will never be supported by a government opposed to putting any regulatory burdens on its donors. Neither will they support any adjustment of farm subsidies that disadvantages corporate farms or giants like Monsanto. So instead of actually doing any good, he will simply have a bully pulpit for spreading his whackadoodle opinions on vaccines. www.npr.org/sections/shots-health-news/2024/11/15/nx-s1-5191947/trump-rfk-health-hhs

WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump has selected Chris Wright, a campaign donor and fossil fuel executive, to serve as energy secretary in his upcoming, second administration.
CEO of Denver-based Liberty Energy, Wright is a vocal advocate of oil and gas development, including fracking, a key pillar of Trump’s quest to achieve U.S. “energy dominance” in the global market.
Wright has been one of the industry’s loudest voices against efforts to fight climate change and could give fossil fuels a boost, including quick action to end a year-long pause on natural gas export approvals by the Biden administration.
Wright also has criticized what he calls a “top-down” approach to climate by liberal and left-wing groups and said the climate movement around the world is “collapsing under its own weight.”
Consideration of Wright to head the administration’s energy department won support from influential conservatives, including oil and gas tycoon Harold Hamm.

These are the elite of the elite - are you telling me that they legitimately eat McDonald's regularly and for group meals? Or is this just a marketing/support thing? If I was that wealthy, I would absolutely have personal chefs cook every meal and never eat McDonald's again.
