Hi all!
I’ve been around the board for a long time, so if you’d be so kind to answer some questions or point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
I have the older model of a ScanNCut (the SDX125). It has literally been a few years since I’ve even touched it. I’ve been stepping my toe back into Electronic crafting and have primarily been using my Cricut Air 2 and my recently acquired Cricut Joy Xtra for cutting card stock and stickers, plus faux leather.
I’ve also been getting back into making journals - art journals, junk journals, and glue books. With this in mind, I have purchased several cut and collage books from Amazon. I really don’t enjoy fussy cutting, plus I have vision loss. I was hoping that I could maybe use my ScanNCut to cut the images. When I first purchased my machine, I never was able to master scanning items in and having the machine do the cutting out. Perhaps it was the machine, perhaps it was me or perhaps I was just following the wrong YouTube content creators.
So here’s my questions:
- Is the Brother ScanNCut SDX125 still a usable, valid machine or is it too outdated compared to the newer models?
- Is it even possible to have the machine cut out images from a cut and collage book? The pages do have a soft gloss to them.
- Any Recommendations for YouTube teachers that I could check out for Brother ScanNCut SDX125 scanning function tutorials? Preferably for free.
Because the scan and cut function is my priority, I’m trying to determine if this machine can do what I need to do or if I should just go ahead and get rid of it. I also have a silhouette machine, but the recent software upgrades have seem to bricked my machine and I haven’t been able to get it to operate properly since. I’m really quite happy with my Cricuts, but they lack the scanning and cutting capabilities.
TL;DR
Should Restless Spirit learn to use her Brother ScanNCut SDX125 to “scan and cut”? Or should she just cut her losses and get rid of the darn thing.
Seriously, if you’ve gotten this far and have any thoughts or words of guidance to give me, I will appreciate it.
