We are a family of hunters and it doesn't really bother me but no one in my immediate family would ever post that on social media either because they don't want people commenting about guns/hunting.

It's not something I see on FB and it would infuriate me if I did but unless you're a vegan you are contributing to animal cruelty it's just a little less in your face.

We were sitting at breakfast and our favorite buck stopped by. His name is Ron and we've seen him for 4 winters. Here is the first picture I took of him. He looks much better relaxing on the lawn than on my wall. He's super friendly (too friendly), and he will come up to us when we are outside and just lay down and nap near us. My father was a hunter and I remember seeing the deer draining hung on the garage wall. I got that we ate the deer all winter. I just don't need to see pictures of people with dead deer. It wasn't a contest. You had a bullet. Buck Fall by Nancy Tim, on Flickr He's beautiful! That is so cool that he isn't afraid and will just hang out. My farrier is an avid hunter. He rides his mules up into the mountains to hunt and he has a lot to say about seeing other people up there and how they "hunt" with a bunch of technology and high powered rifles. He always says "there's a big difference between hunting and killing." He was the first hunter I ever heard say something like that and it really resonated with me.

I figure those deer have had much better lives than the chickens, cows, and pigs whose parts we buy from the grocery store. Our cows have a good life. Warm shelter, good feed delivered twice a day right to them, fresh water at all times, and lots of back scratches from my DH He walks the pens twice and day and they love it when he gives them back scratches.

I find it gross and unnecessary but I think that about a lot of what people post on social media. I am grateful for deer hunters though. The deer population gets out of control in my area. Off topic, but I have been meaning to ask you. How's your son? Did he get to his first duty station?

I live in MA, I don’t know anyone who hunts, so nothing on my FB page. Though if I knew people that hunted, I wouldn’t want to see it, I’d either hide or unfollow.

I am not a hunter but it doesn't bother me any more than anything else I scroll past. I do eat meat/not a vegan though, so that is my perspective.

I have a couple of hunter friends that post whatever they killed. It doesn't bother me. I am NOT a hunter. I won't eat game stuff. Not a fan of hunting. BUT I understand it and it doesn't bother me, just don't make me eat it. My husband's family comes from a long line of hunters. DH used to hunt but that didn't last too long. Too much trouble especially if they get something and expensive to process.
And the pictures are never gory looking, just your typical hunting type pic.

I friended an old boyfriend on Facebook. Then I saw he had a picture of him holding a dead leopard. Unfriend. Now that is another whole ballgame. I would immediately unfriend as well.

I would rather not see it. I understand to them it is "part of their culture" and they are excited. I have relatives who are taking their young kids with them or are posing them with the deer afterwards, and I like that even less, but again, it is "their culture" and they either can't imagine anyone having any issue with it since they don't OR they know it bothers people and they do it in spite them.
I feel there are ways they can do it without showing the entire sad death stare deer with blood all over too. I admit that birds, fish etc... don't bother me as much and part of that is the lack of blood/death stare.

We are in MN. That's pretty much a tradition. They share on fb to show their family and friends. It's the main conversations going on this time of the yr. It's generations and generations of hunters. It's not going to stop. I don't like them either, but I know the tradition of it. Of course they all eat the deer meat. That again is a tradition of making jerky, sausage, etc on the wkends with the whole family.

Every year I get so annoyed with people showing photos on Facebook of the deer they killed while hunting. It’s just gross and disturbing to me. I’m a non-hunter. Curious if it bugs anyone else or just me. I unsubscribed from a family member's IG because of the hunting/dead animal posts. It's gross and I don't want to see it.

It doesn't bother me at all. DH doesn't hunt, but he's a fisherman, and will post pictures of him holding his giant walleye all the time. Or them all laid out in a line. There's no difference to me if it's a legal hunt, and it will be consumed as food. I got a snap from DS yesterday of his buddy's buck he got Saturday night. They were starting to process it, and they were proud to show it off.

It doesn't bother me. I grew up with my Dad and brothers hunting. My husband hunts with our son, grandson, son in law and his dad. They shot nice bucks this weekend and posted pictures of them. I'm used to it. I don't go hunting myself but I enjoy their bounty for sure.

It definitely bugs me. I'm a girl from the suburbs and had zero contact with hunting/hunters most of my life. One time while visiting my friend in rural MI she decided I needed to see their "buck pole" (which I didn't even know existed!). Nope...no thank you...not my thing. FTR, I'm a vegetarian so...there's that, too

DH and other males in our family hunt but I've never heard the term.

It holds like 5-6 deer at a time. Absolutely not my cup of tea at all...LOL!

I have a dear friend who hunts. She and her husband are heavily involved with wildlife conservation, including using drones to find baby deer hiding in tall grass during the time farmers are harvesting. Many of the small animals get killed by farm equipment. And my friend an her husband also hunt and eat deer. The two are not mutually exclusive. It's more about keeping a healthy stock in the area. They have NEVER posted photo's on Facebook, or any othe public places. They know I am ok with seeing pictures (not gory/bloody), so occasionally I will receive a Snapchat photo of a deer they have taken. They are extremely aware that the general public have mixed feelings about hunting, and respect that.
If I had come across someone who put pictures of their trophies publicly, I would lose respect for them. You don't just spring that on anyone and everyone.

In my opinion, doing that does not respect the animal and the fact that they gave their life for some asshat to show it off as a trophy. If I were to see someone do that, you better believe that I would let them know what I thought about posting pics like that.

I don’t really need to see it. I don’t normally actually see it either. But no, it doesn’t bother me. I live in an area that suffers from a huge over population of deer because very few people hunt anymore.

I have never really known anyone personally that hunts until recent years...my old boss who is a realtor hunts. it's funny because she dresses fashionably, gets her nails done, works out... and hunts. I never would have pictured that. her and her husband are responsible, get the tags, use all of the animal, etc, etc. and since I am not vegetarian, I am don't want to feel hypocritical about it. But her husband posted pics yesterday... don't love it. I remind myself that I need to respect other people's choices for something that they do ethically and legally, as I prep my chicken for dinner.
