Has anyone read this? www.cnn.com/2024/10/21/tech/x-twitter-terms-of-service/index.htmlMy main question is that I have tried to delete my account since Musk took over and all I ever get is something like “oops, something went wrong, try later”. Has anyone successfully deleted their account? Just uninstalling the App does nothing, am I correct?

I deactivated my account today with no issues ... I've not tried to do it before, so I can't speak to how easy it's been to do in the past.

I just tried to deactivate my account on there and it wouldn’t let me either. I also got the ‘sorry, try again later’ message.

I saw a report Thursday about the new terms & conditions that were starting the next day. I went and deactivated my account with no trouble.

Just uninstalling the App does nothing, am I correct? Yes, you're correct, because your account will still exist.

I deactivated early in the week with no issues. Keep trying. I think there is a mass exodus so I'm sure their servers are slammed right now.

Is anyone switching to another platform? I would love to find an alternative. I would like to continue following some people. I also use for fire information.
I never post or retweet just look at stuff and occasionally like something

I didn’t delete mine but I did remove all my content and turned my profile picture into a white blank. All you can see of “me” is my landing page with zero info on it.
Haven’t checked out blue sky.

I tried to deactivate my account, but I need to enter my password and I can’t remember it. Tried two possibilities but neither were correct. I really don’t want to have to reset it just to deactivate

People are flocking to Bluesky. I think that may be causing some issues on X with all the deactivation going on and issues on Bluesky with all the new users trying to sign up.

I've tried to delete my account today but was unsuccessful. I've rarely used it but I want to to make my statement by deactivating. I had to reset my password which was easy. I couldn't remember it. I can use the account but when I try to deactivate, it tells me the account is suspended. I've filed an appeal.

I finally managed to deactivate my account yesterday, after needing to reset my password to do so. DH just deleted the app from his devices, and said I should just do that, but I wanted to make the statement of leaving. Now, I am not counted in the ‘number of subscribers’

I deactivated my account although I never used it. I had it set up for my business but haven't gone to X/Twitter in years so this gave me the push to get rid of it. I had to change my password first because I couldn't remember my password but it was fairly easy after that.

I never used my account either. I basically set it up as a placeholder for my business name so no one else could take it. My saved password got me in but it still wouldn’t let me deactivate the account. It was really weird because it kept prompting me to reset my password but that password allowed me to sign in? So stupid. I was wondering if it was because I was trying to deactivate from a mobile device and not an actual computer.

I deactivated Friday morning with no issues. Then promptly uninstalled the app from my phone. I didn't use it except when DD was employed at a OOS university. I followed the sports teams and such. One of her friends ran all the social media for a bit and she did a great job. It was easy for me to let it go.
