Hi everyone! I everyone is doing well and is taking it easy this weekend! How is your weather? Ours has been super mild but I think it's about to get colder ... I am going to an event tonight and taking an Uber ... I will be wearing a blazer and the event is indoors so I am debating whether to wear a coat or not ... I think there will be a coat check there but it might be easier to not have a coat at all ... decisions, decisions! Not a lot happening today ... staying off my foot to get ready to be on it for hours later ... There will be some food at this event so I'll just graze on that for dinner ... Here is today's meme ... a cutie with kitties! Sorry so big! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

It’s been a quiet Saturday here so far. We did grocery shopping and that’s about it. I’ve been knitting away and DH is reading and watching TV. Our weather hasn’t been too bad today - reasonably mild, but we dropped below freezing overnight and had quite a hard frost this morning. I think we’re expecting more of the same up until Tuesday, when it is going to get closer and wet again. Tonight there is more international football and Germany has a game, so we’ll watch at least the start of that - kick off is 8:45, so we might not make it to the end.
Dinner tonight is going to be roast pork, with dumplings, pumpkin and broccoli.

Happy Saturday dinner friends! I had a crazy busy week ( I know, aren't they all??) There were a few days I read the thread, but got pulled into another direction before I could respond. How many more renewal seasons can I survive before I say " enough" and I retire? leannec You foot issue sounds similar to when I tore a tendon in my foot/ankle several years ago. You'll need an MRI to diagnose it if so, Do you happen to have a cast type boot? I also found that wearing super stiff shoes and eventually orthotics in my shoes helped. I finally had surgery to repair it which included a plate and two screws, and still have a minor flare up on occasion, especially when the weather changes in the fall like now. But I wear really good shoes for a week or so and it feels better, or the weather changes again. :-) I had my son and his family over for dinner on Thursday for a mini early Thanksgiving dinner. so leftovers are on tap for this evening. I had planned to have them last evening, but was running errands and grabbed dinner out. I'm washing puppy laundry and moved furniture around in my office/sewing room this morning, I have an errand to run and then home for the rest of the weekend to hopefully sew and handstitch and watch TV. I want to watch the new season of Bad Sisters. tt's finally cooling off enough that I can get the winter bedding out and put on the bed tomorrow. Sending healthy happy peaceful vibes to all that need them and wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!!

Good morning. Cute meme, leannec. ITA w/stiff shoe. I'm really surprised that they haven't done a more thorough scan. Enjoy your evening. I, too will be knitting today. Though I'm working on my first real project, a scarf and doubt it'll be nearly as pretty as sueg's project. I'm not sure about dinner. It could be tarragon chicken or lamb chops. DH needs to let me know what he wants. austnscrapaddict, are you contemplating retirement?

Happy Saturday! I'm just watching some cooking shows this morning trying to decide what to do today. I'm feeling lazy but I don't want to hang around the house all day. I'm very indecisive about what I want to do so I'm just chillin' until I decide. Dinner tonight is also up in the air. I did get some chicken and salad at TJs yesterday so I may make that unless I can talk someone into going out. Basically I'm bored Hope you all have a great day!

I was out early with ds so he could do some driving. We went to Hobby Lobby for Christmas decor, the car wash, the grocery store and finally the Lebanese bakery in the city where my kids grew up. They both love fresh Syrian bread dipped in tahini. I love the bread but absolutely not the tahini. They get that from their father. I think ds has talked his sister into coming here so he can drive her to do her errands. If she does he will stay there for dinner. After talking with karenlou about meatballs and sauce yesterday, I took some out of the freezer and will have ravioli with it.

We went to the Habitat for Humanity Restore this morning and I bought another bookshelf for my “library.” I don’t like my books piled on top of each other so extra shelves were needed. I’ll also use a couple shelves for the grandboys toys. Now I have some organizing to do.
We finally have a dry day after a few days of rain. I’m happy to be able to get out for my walk this afternoon.
I’ve invited my mom over for supper. She doesn’t like to drive at night so I will go and pick her up and then take her back after supper. We are having roast pork, baked sweet potatoes, a veggie and coleslaw.
Grandboy # 2 got his first goal of his hockey career this morning. He is 7 and this is his first year playing hockey.

It's finally in the upper 40s ~ we walked 3 miles and, at first, I didn't think I was going to make it but I did. There is a house we pass that has plants with an incredible aroma. I finally got the PlanetNet App to figure out what it is. A type of purple sage. I'll be watching college football this afternoon so we're having pizza for dinner. Iron workers on skyscrapers. Back in the day ~ no fear!!

Saturday was the hottest day of spring so far, it got up to 34C (93F). Finally!! Mind you, I wasted the day and didn't do any water related activities at all... unless you count washing dishes as water related! Then I woke in the middle of the night to the smell of smoke - there have been some bushfires (wildfires) overnight. Nowhere near us, from what I can see. A couple of days ago, DSO installed two pull out racks for all of my spices, in one of my pantries. I can't tell you how excited I am! So that started me on the road to cleaning out my pantries and cataloguing everything in there (1) so I can plan some meals using what's in the cupboard and (2) so I don't buy double-ups. I found three jars of tamarind puree and a bag of tamarind pulp in the pantry - I think I'm good for tamarind for a while. cadoodlebug I'm not scared of heights, but that picture still made my feet tingle. Dinner was homemade pizza. I made foccaccia dough for the bases.

It's been a productive day. I met DD for some Christmas shopping. She was a big help. I about have her girls done and she helped me some with the grandsons. I am finishing up laundry. DH and I leave tomorrow for Las Vegas. I have a meeting and he is tagging along. Would just as soon stay home. I am sitting here watching football and cursing my team.
DD, her girlfriend and YDS are coming over tonight. Dinner will be pizza.

we are having a lazy day today reading. super windy out still. made salad and breakfast sausages for lunch. going out for Peruvian food tonight. will probably have fish.
I am reading a book called "only the clothes on her back"..clothing and the hidden history of power in the 19th-century United States"
it is so eye opening. I have been very interested in the history of textiles since I worked at Lowell national historical park in the early 1980's. this book is dense and written for an academic audience. but it is fascinating to me that textiles were a more reliable way to grow wealth and hold wealth than any money before the civil war. and women, slaves and others of no legal power also used it to create personal wealth which was not possible otherwise. so you can tell what kind of nerd I am.. history nerd!!! FYI--Lowell is in Massachusetts and it is where the american industrial revolution developed, based around water rights and the industrialization of cotton cloth production. most the original workers were young women.

I had a really fun day yesterday. Well, I spent most of it driving, but it was still a fun day. My gentleman friend is friendly with a man who used to be my sister’s boss, mentor, and good friend, like 20 years ago, but they eventually lost touch after he retired. Good enough friends that I knew him and his wife back then, too. Both of these guys lost their wives last year so they have lots to talk about. So we four had lunch together up in wine country yesterday and my DD tagged along, too. My sister and her friend were happy to see each other again. I had to drive over an hour to pick up my guy and then back towards home for lunch (and then back again afterwards) because he is having issues with his knee, but it was totally worth it. My sister drove my DD there separately. We had a great lunch, then ran around the plaza in Sonoma, hit the shops, and then he and I headed home and hung out. It was such a nice day. I’m not really used to having a social life that doesn’t revolve around paper crafts and/or afternoon tea. Today I’m at home, eating the usual (rechauffe) for dinner. oh well.
