Betty White is being honored with a postage stamp in her image, available in 2025.
I’ll file here next to the RBGs. And yes, I send lots of cards and keep a stash of postage on hand. And pick the stamp for the recipient/occasion. Weird in this day and age, I know 😉 Blame my dad, a philatelist.

Oh, I love that! I will definitely buy some. I love buying new stamps. I do Postcrossing, so I also tend to buy a lot of the smallest size stamps I can get my hands on, so when people say they like stamps, I can cram a few extra on each card instead of just using a postcard or international stamp.

My father was a mailman and he always brought unusual ones home. I've always been interested in stamps, but not for collecting, but to use to send to others. I always hope the recipient notices!

That's a wonderful thing. Sue Ann Nivens was a great television character. I'll always love her characters. This was my favorite Sue Ann Nivens scene: Fine Dining with Sue Ann Nivens

This fall I have been using the FREEDOM stamp. I often use flags. I also use assorted flowers. I have 'books' of the snow globes
Yes, I bought a bunch before the last price raise. There will be another one, I think in January.

I will not use the RBG or Janis Joplin sheets of stamps. Those are keepers. I did use Elvis and Paul Newman. Looking forward to Betty White.

I saw that announcement and knew I'd be buying some of those. I'll use them for mailing, not for keeping.

I must be the only person who could careless about the hundreds of stamps choices there are. UPSS complains about money issues- just stop designing stamps and sell just one design. It gets damaged in the mail and does a recipient look at what stamp was used. I know I don't.

They have been selling stamps to collectors who never even use them for postage for decades and decades due to those different designs, though. They also sell merchandise based on the different designs as well. Certain designs also help them sell merch to people beyond just stamp enthusiasts, too, such as my kids who were excited to see Dungeons & Dragons t-shirts & journals based on the recent D&D stamps.

It gets damaged in the mail and does a recipient look at what stamp was used. I know I don't. I do! I will freely admit that I am probably a bit of an anomaly - as I mentioned upthread, I send (and hand make) greeting cards. On top of that, my dad was a philatelist, and had his own (well-regarded) shop. That man owned and ran a good number of different businesses and just the other day I realized (yeah, it took me all this time) he was a true entrepreneur <------ she says with pride. And just a generally good guy too. Anyhow, as a young child I also collected stamps and have my own books put away somewhere. I think. Haven't seen them in decades. Back in the day, along with coin collecting, it was a fairly well-known hobby. I'm thinking late 60's-early 70's may have been it's heyday, I dunno? I spent lots of time sorting, soaking, adhering stamps into my books. While I don't get "excited" about stamp releases generally, I thought this one was noteworthy since Betty White was so universally loved.
