I know everyone is thinking about December Daily and Christmas right now, but has anyone given any thought to OLW for 2025? This past year I chose a word + focuses on it, but did not do anything creative with my word. And while that is what I needed this year, am thinking I would like to do something more creative this coming year. I am thinking that I wont take Ali's class again as it is usually a repeat of previous years and maybe I will purchase one collection of papers and just make my own kit. Still undecided on that though. I am almost certain this coming year my word will be Thrive. Past years words have been: Home (current word) Content Strong (absolutely never, ever again will I choose this word ) Peace Release Downsize Discover edited to add: progress (I forgot I used this word one year!) So what are your thoughts? Will you be choosing a word and completing an album? Have you thought about what word you will choose?

I just deleted my post...grrr.
2024's word was record, and I recorded a ton of stories in my scrapbook... so it was a good one.
other words in random order have been intentional 2020-- yeah, that fizzled out as soon as March hit... Words--didn't work with Ali's prompts very well... that was the year I tried to take the class. I was trying to focus on reading and writing. Steady--didn't do much with this one except choose it as a word. Creative--both times I picked this one I was less creative, not picking it a 3rd time. light--somewhat successful adventure
less (stuff, of me, less obligations) failed on two of the three but it was an OK word.
and I know I'm missing a few because I always choose a word...
There are a lot of life changes coming in 2025 so I'm thinking I need something like zen or calm (or take a deep breath) but I haven't settled on the one yet. I will make a page in my scrapbook, but not an entire album.

So funny that you posed this today, because I was just thinking about OLW last night and came to the same conclusion - no class, my own supplies, and Thrive was even the word that came to mind! 😆 Jinx!
I just don’t actually like the word thrive, it feels ugly in my mouth. I’m going to think on words that have a similar meaning to me that I like better.

I don’t ever complete the class but I always pick a word. For 2025 my word is romanticize. And I’m going to romanticize my life. I’m going full Instagram aesthetic with my everyday. I struggle with not being optimistic at all. I’m hoping this helps me figure out there is a lot of good and beauty in my days and have a little more gratitude.

I don't have my word yet. I choose one and let it inspire me throughout the year but I don't do the class or a project.
Previous words have included - Simplify (that was a good one), Health (that one didn't work well for me), Continue (also a good one), Progress (goodish), Joy (that one was hard), Motivate...

This year was the first time in 6 years I didn’t do anything for OLW and I kinda missed it. Definitely want to make an album for 2025. Hoping to use my stash and not buy any products. I will probably take the class as well. I don’t really like all the prompts and how repetitive they are but it’s good monthly accountability for me. I like the zoom calls if they still do that.
Continue, Progress, Simplify or Write are standing out to me right now.

I usually start thinking about my word this time of the year. I think I want a really meaningful word for me this next year.
The past couple of years have been hard for me emotionally. I cry a lot (but I am NOT productive...You're welcome for the TS I threw in there) 🤪
So I feel like this next one needs to be a really good one.

This is probably the first time I don't have my new word at the ready. My word for 2024 is Center, and it has served me well. For 2025, I could use faith and hope...but I'm not sure either of those words are right.

I got an email about OLW from Liz Layne who makes metal talismans with words on them a week or 2 ago and it got me thinking about OLW for 2025.
I did Ali’s class this year and actually enjoyed some of the new prompts and did most of them. I have figured out that I do better with the accountability of the class.
Pretty sure my OLW for 2025 will be INVEST. I want to focus on the things I intentionality want to invest in.
2024 - Define. This was a great word for me as I became an empty nester and retired this year. 2023 - Joy 2022 - Invite 2021 - Whole 2020 - Celebrate

I don’t do a word per year. I just have a life word. My word is ‘Choose’. My husband committed suicide almost 10 years ago. He choose to leave. I decided that I could either choose to be miserable or I could choose to live. I have choices every day about how I want to live!

This is my favorite project, so yes I will have a word. My word for next year is next, as in do the next right thing, what is the next step etc. I have some analysis paralysis going on and just need to keep moving! I will take Ali's class, I will probably not buy any supplies other than if she has some stamps I like. I use a 9x12 album and keep 2 years per album . I will come back and list all my words later when I can check

I’ve only taken the class one year and mostly did not enjoy the other contributors. My only year of OLW was 2023 and I chose the word home. If I did it again, 100% I won’t do an album (did 6x8 last time). I would consider just adding about my word into my daily journal or doing a Traveler's notebook. Don’t know about a word. But since I only did the one year I don’t have a lot of prompts to draw from. I kept up with my album Jan- Sept. Oct-Nov I phoned it in to “complete” the album and December I said screw it and didn’t do it.

Yes, I will choose a word (or, rather, let a word choose me) but I usually have some ideas floating around by November & this time I don't. I'm not sure if that's exciting or terrifying! I don't ever make a separate album for my OLW. I create a Facebook banner with my word that I post on January 1, and that helps keep me accountable. I also usually order a piece of custom jewelry from Etsy with my word on it. Sometimes, I scrap a page or two throughout the year. Previous OLWs have been: delight (2024) yield (2023) exult (2022) hearten (2021) -- Perfect as this was the year that I met the love of my life. prevail (2020) -- Ironic, huh?! hustle (2019) #extra (2018) actuate (2017) embody (2016) forge (2015)

While I do enjoy the other contributors and what they bring to the class, I don't always like their prompt ideas. I find myself going back to some of the old tried and true ones from the early years to substitute when there is one I don't like (have a conversation with my word, write a poem with my word etc-what the heck lol). For me, the good outweighs the bad though with that.

I've never done this.
I don't know that I could ever choose just one word.
The word that calls to me the most from the ones mentioned is Center.
Maybe I'll think on it. Perhaps I need direction like this. I should talk to my therapist about it. I wonder what she would say.

I was just thinking about what my OLW will be for 2025 a few weeks ago. I have always picked a word but haven't done much with them with the exception of a visual reminder (necklace, vision board etc). I'm tossing around a few possibilities: clarity, joy, fun... still thinking things through. Past words have been forward, open, begin, brave, flourish (2020 word that did not fit!), intension, build, reclaim. I'm looking for something more lighthearted after a heavy 2024.

For me, the good outweighs the bad though with that. I agree with teacherlisa - also I love your word "next". I tend to love Ali's prompts the most, altho Felicitas had one that involved documenting a daily "win" for your word and had 3x4 cards you could print out. I absolutely loved documenting one small thing each day of that month on a card that had relevance to my OLW. I would 100% want to do that prompt again - it was kind of like documenting a daily gratitude - not hard to do but very fulfilling. I think for me having the class means I will get emails that remind me to be thinking about my word and even if I do not do the exact prompt they have, I tend to do some reflection on my word. I don't love the poetry prompt the past few years, so this year I just did a full page photo of me and a quote I liked and that was perfect for me.

I decided that I could either choose to be miserable or I could choose to live. I have choices every day about how I want to live! I'm sorry you had to lose your DH that way. I love your attitude and your word choice. I've never done OLW, but I'm thinking this might be the year. The word I'm considering is ME. I've spent my entire adult life caregiving. I'm in therapy and the one thing my therapist keeps asking me is what do I want. How do I want to live?

I had thought of ME or SELF for this past year, but then I found SPACE and it's been so wonderful for me. I have done little to no thought for a OLW for 25...although I do like Invest.
I documented thru April, but then my dog died & I completely abandoned the project, although I did keep my word Space all around me. I needed space and I created it & probably saved my sanity.
Maybe I'll take the class this year and not commit to any formal scrapbooking to it.
