Good Morning.
This am I have a couple of video appointments. Then I will probably do a lot of knitting.
I have some tidying for sil's visit and I will pack my little spinner for our overnighter tmw. It's a fun thing that I look fwd to each year. I'm very blessed w/a sil who is also a sister and bestie.
What's everyone up to today?
Dinner will probably be chicken tarragon. Ods is coming home and he and dh might change my plan.
What's on your menu?
**GypsyGirl**, I read your latest post last night. Your dh's cancer is just heaping more stress on your poor husband and you. If having the surgery will get all of those nasty cancer cells then as much as it's more recovery and hospital time it might be for the best. Whatever it takes to get rid of the cancer is important. However, the fact that your dh is beyond over w/hospitals makes sense. You both need a shift for the better. My thoughts are w/you, my friend.
Wishing everyone an easy, calm and fulfilling day!

Happy Wednesday! My day started out very early hearing a loud bang about 5:15 which woke me up. It must have also woken my dog up because he wanted out at 6am. I don't start work until 9 so it has been a very lonnnnng morning so far. Last night, I made my go-to comfort food of salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. I ate a few bites and that's all I could do. As I mentioned on the Ozempic thread, my brain still thinks I will like my go-tos but the medication is causing my tastes to change so that things I really liked don't interest me much. I usually love a good burger but went out with my sisters this weekend to a great burger place and I was done after a few bites. My eyes are definitely much bigger than my stomach these days. Tonight, I'm making salmon and I don't know what my reaction will be to it. It's very interesting. scrapmaven Enjoy your trip with your sister! My sisters are my besties as well. Hope everyone has a great day!

Happy Wednesday! It's very chilly outside! Yippee!!! Plotting which sweater I will wear today. Taking the morning at home to catch up on some paperwork and phone calls. Will spend the afternoon with DH. Dinner tonight will be some butternut squash soup that is thawing in the fridge. It was something I picked up at the church Christmas bazaar a few weeks ago. Hopefully it tastes as good as the tomato basil soup did! scrapmaven - thanks for your support. It's a tough spot right now for us but I'm sure we will make it through. DD and I both think he should do the shoulder replacement, but in the end it is his decision.

I woke up this morning to about 4cm of fresh snow, and still falling. It’s our first decent snowfall of the season, though a lot has melted through the day. We’re meant to drop below freezing overnight, which means tomorrow is likely to be icy. I had an early doctor’s appointment today, so I had to venture out in the cold and still falling snow. Good news is my doctor is pleased with the blood sugar readings I’ve been taking, as well as my weight loss - nearly 2kg in the month since I last saw her. She’s upped my Mounjaro dose for the next 3 months - it was going to be for one month, but I’m away then - and I have blood tests scheduled for the day after I get back. My big test now is going to be keeping up my new eating habits when back with family and over Christmas. I went to the pharmacy and supermarket on the way home, then found a blanket on the sofa and curled up to read and knit for the rest of the day. Dinner tonight is more of the chickpea curry I made yesterday. As usual, there was far too much for the two of us last night! DH is out for dinner to farewell a colleague who’s retiring, so it’s good not to have to think about dinner and cook it. **GypsyGirl** - I am still sending good thoughts your way.

Happy Wednesday! I am fixing pork roast, potatoes and carrots in a crockpot then adding Amish noodles later. Slowly transitioning the house to Christmas and doing never ending laundry.

It isn't raining yet but it is very windy which makes me think I'm going to skip AquaFit. Cold is one thing, windy is almost unbearable. I have Lunch Bunch today at a restaurant I'm looking forward to as they are opening one in the spring within walking distance to us. It is is the town west of us so it will be nasty out. We usually have 20 ladies, only 8 have signed up. Dinner will be Teriyaki Chicken with green beans almondine and a fruit salad. Look at the ingredient before nutmeg.

Ladies, I don't usually plug other threads here, but you might find jeremysgirl's post on weight loss drugs and nutrition really interesting. It relates to some of our members here. **GypsyGirl**, no matter which sweater you choose you'll look pretty. Your eyes are just beautiful. cadoodlebug, there's a reason that indoor pools are a good thing. Brrrr. Enjoy your lunch. Tearisci and sueg, the weight loss can only help you feel better. Plus, shopping for fun clothing is nice, too.

I read it this morning and I agree with scrapmaven 100% **GypsyGirl**. Take good care of yourself too. I'm so glad to hear your blood sugar readings have been good. I have bought myself a glucometer this morning. A lower A1C did not happen with my plant based diet. With that said, I still ate significant amounts of sugar (call me a chocoholic). So I want to just take some readings throughout the day and see how my body reacts to eating various things. This is an exploratory mission in the interest of better health. I think I'm going to make some tacos tonight. I'm just about to go into the kitchen and soak some black beans. I have some vegan cheese that's not so bad and I'll make some slaw. Jeremy will have BBQ chicken instead of beans on his tacos. I want to say that I'm experiencing a bit of blowback at work. Like the bosses not responding to me and being boxed out of meetings. I met with my work therapist yesterday and she told me that I should use these experiences to create some boundaries for myself. Embrace being let off the hook for all of our operations and use this as a springboard to better self-care. She's a very good therapist.

I got an early call from DS asking if I could come and spend the day with 2 of the boys. They both had fevers last night and couldn’t go to school today. I have no problem babysitting as long as they aren’t puking - that’s where I draw the line! Both are feeling okay although they have a cough.
Depending on the weather, I will go for a walk with my bestie tonight. It’s a bit rainy and cold so we will see.
Not sure about supper. Hopefully DH will figure it out before I get home.

Good morning all!! I am in my happy season. It is a nice crisp 58 degrees outside with a nice wind. It is sweatshirt and boots weather. This is MY time. Even though I have Fibro and OA in my hands, which are hurting today, my body just does better in the chilly weather. The heat of summer just zaps every bit of energy I might save up.
Dinner...not even a thought. It is choir night. I am thinking whatever I have for lunch is what I will consume for the day. Not a lot of choices to pick from around here so I will sit and ponder and make a rather unhealthy last minute choice. I did get a text from Sonic that today is 99 cent corn dogs. And yes, they are awful in most people's books but I love a good corn dog. I will tell DH that he should get that for dinner tonight. I hate not having anything prepared. Such is life.
Right now, I can't respond to everyone but I have read all the posts. Hugs to those who need them. Cheers for those that get them. Hoping I can pop back and respond to individual posts later.

Hi friends!
Checking in to say hello. This week's dinner is chili and cornbread.
Some interesting developments... - Bad/good news: our dishwasher displayed a code meaning it couldn't drain properly the other day, so maintenance has been over a few times to troubleshoot. Bad news is that we need a new dishwasher, good news is that we don't have to pay for it (I guess that's a perk of apartment living). They don't have any on hand, so it should be within the next few days we get it. - I got the results of my kidney ultrasound from last week and have 2 little kidney stones (around 5 mm), one in each kidney, so my doctor gave me a referral to a urologist to be safe. - DH applied for a new job this morning! He has been having some issues with his current situation, so he's been looking again after the debacle that was this January. He's been trying to get something closer to his dad, as he's looking like he'll need more and more assistance in the coming months/years, and it would be easier for us to be there instead of driving 4 hours one way every weekend. Well, the school he applied to is where we both got both of our degrees and is only 1/2 hour in either direction to our respective parents. So that would be very nice. There's another job a bit farther away (2 1/2 hours one way) that he may apply for over Thanksgiving break.
Sending everyone my love and hugs!

Happy mid-week dinner friends! scrapmaven enjoy your time with your SIL you speak so fondly of her, What a treasure to have in your life! @gyspygirl I'm so sorry for the bumps in your DH's journey. You are a strong woman and will face it all with your amazing strength and grace. I'm sending hugs and the promise of a lunch/visit when ever it works into your schedule. jeremysgirl I'm sending you good job vibes, I hope something comes along for you soon, Your counselor sounds great, if you are not informed or included on things, you can't be held responsible.. sueg Good news on your dr's report, I'm sure knowing you have an apt as soon as you return will help to keep you on track over the holidays. rymeswithpurple good luck to your DH on the job search, ugh on the dishwasher replacement and ouch on the stones. I hope they can be dealt with easily. naby64 That is my ideal weather day too! But here in Central TX they are not frequent enough. Dinner will be lasagna soup and the last of our baguette from last night. maybe a salad too. wishing everyone a great day ahead!

You're not in any pain, are you? I'm sorry about that dishwasher. I have a very old, very small refrigerator. Jeremy got an email from Home Depot this morning advertising a fridge that is bigger and way nicer than ours and he is pushing me to go look at it. It's a really good sale. I feel like I should go. But does spending appliance level money make anyone else feel like choking? And I know I will love a new fridge. I just want it to be freeeeeee....

austnscrapaddict , jeremysgirl Thank you both! A little back pain, but I had attributed that to the terrible condition our sofa is in. Haha. I think they're around 1/2 cm each, so small, but I guess on the cusp of something to get looked at to be safe. Fall is absolutely our favorite season too! We were worried that we had missed peak leaf season on our trip, but Sleepy Hollow was INCREDIBLE! The further north we got, the more into big pine trees we got instead of leaf-bearing trees, but man. We definitely lucked out farther south.

cadoodlebug HMMMM on your meme- I stop at this place when I drive to DFW. I may have to re-think my potty break place. jeremysgirl Same on the cost of appliances! we bought all new appliances when we remodeled a few years ago, the fridge is starting to not run as quietly as when it was new, The reality is that they may ALL need to be replaced in the next 5-10 years, Whatever happened to appliances lasting a lifetime??? They are practically disposable but not with a pricetag to match.

But does spending appliance level money make anyone else feel like choking? And I know I will love a new fridge. I just want it to be freeeeeee.... LOL We need a new dishwasher and I hate the idea of spending money on it so haven't pulled the trigger yet. Hope you survive a few days without yours, rymeswithpurple. Fingers crossed for your DH and that you aren't in any pain with the stones. **GypsyGirl**, I was wondering if anything was being done for your DH's cancer while fighting back on his response to the immunotherapy. Sending all the healing vibes your way that the best treatment possible is what happens. I've prepped paperwork for two meetings I have tomorrow and am slightly annoyed that DH didn't bring home printer paper like he said he would. He has bought 2 and returned 1 printer in the last week, but forgot paper both times. We did have colored paper so I have a bright blue info package to review. And, yes, for plenty of things I prefer to work from a paper copy. Last night's chicken & dumplings were a hit with DH. It was more chicken soup than stew, but tasty and the dumplings better than I anticipated. The very funny thing was I didn't explain to my YA adults what I'd made and they have been raised on Chinese dumplings so couldn't figure out what the doughy lumps were and why they didn't have a filling. I'm still working through food DH bought to get through the weekend so pork chops, asparagus and the largest sweet potato I have every seen are going to be included tonight. I'll add a few other vegetables because I think everything will be roasted.

bc2ca Thanks! Fortunately, we do have a dish drying rack from when the one we had before kicked the bucket (this one is the 2nd one we've had while living here). DH grew up without one, and his dad still doesn't have one. I think we can manage, though DH is telling me the fact it's broken is my fault because I need to get better about scraping/cleaning my dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. No real pain, but I'll probably take an Aleve sooner than later for a headache. I am hoping the best for him for this job. He was so, so qualified for the job he'd interviewed for in January, and when all was said and done, they went with someone 1) who had less experience and 2) was local. And he didn't even get the full reimbursement he asked for! (He learned after the fact there was a $400 limit on mileage if you were driving (which his interviewers were apparently not made aware of until they submitted his request...great research job, y'all. He didn't ask for meals or gas or anything. We figured that if he got the job, we'd both want to see the area beforehand, given that it's somewhere we'd never been and also 560 miles from where we live now [and the fact he hates flying factored in, too].)

Same, girl, same! I love, love, love fall. Except when Mother Nature says, *Nah, I'm sending winter instead*! As a girl in the south, I LOVE my winter too! We don't get enough winter. If we get a really good snow for a few days, I am completely fine. I don't think I want a northern winter, certainly not a Chicago feet deep snow kind of winter. But to be able to wear the sweaters and coats that I own, you betcha!

I've really only been in snow once. So, I can't say that I love or hate winter. My favorite season is spring, because it represents promise and hope. Our fridge is problematic and dh hates it, anyway. We keep postponing getting a new one, but it's time. So, we're gonna get a new stove, as well. Why not? It's only money. I had my appt w/my neurologist. I'm starting Botox in a week or 2. It'll be every 90 days. Wonder if it'll help a double chin?

I am making sukiyaki and roasted vegetables. I may fry the tofu, too. Yakidofu is really good in sukiyaki.
I am hungry now and want to eat at 6 maybe.
I have had a very busy day today and no drama. I didn’t have to grocery shop today so things were much better. I broke out in a sweat yesterday at the grocery store. I was not pretty at all. 🙄🤣
Ok I am on it. I need to cook.

We haven’t had any fall to speak of this year. We went from 100 degree weather to 50 (our version of freezing) in the space of a week. I think it was 70 in there somewhere for a minute. Now it’s raining for the next week. Yes, no matter what the weather is like, I’m probably going to complain. Unless it’s 75 degrees and sunny with a light breeze. I finally replaced my 1982 refrigerator in 2008 because I couldn’t stand looking at it for one more minute. It was still running fine. I donated it to the teacher’s lounge at the middle school. My 2008 Amana French-door model that I LOVE still seems to be running well, too. My 2011 dishwasher (replaced the original 1982 model that finally died) seems to be creeping along but I doubt it will live as long as its predecessor. Don’t even talk to me about my beautiful 2013 stove/double oven/matching microwave that I paid a fortune for, and the smaller oven hasn’t worked right in years. Repair guy told me it would cost another fortune to fix. So I use it for baking sheet storage. Dinner was supposed to be beef barley soup but I never got it started. Maybe tomorrow when I’m stuck home all day in the rain. Wishing Mr. **GypsyGirl** good health, and wisdom to make the right choice.

Follow up: sukiyaki was beyond amazing. I had a raw egg with it because I have eaten it this way for 40 years. I may get salmonella but probably won’t. The extra vegetables were not needed nor eaten.
