I will say that while some of the trends were out there, that "next new thing" frenzy that the magazines created back then by always publishing layouts that had something even more out the box on them really did keep the manufacturers on their toes.
I could be wrong, but I feel as though there was less of the current issue of so many lines feeling all the same 20+ years ago than now. Everyone wanted to offer something different because so many people were trying to create something unique to be published or to get onto design teams, etc.

But the biggest challenge for me was naked chipboard. I regret every cent I spent on that stuff. I was completely incapable of turning it to something even remotely nice enough to put on a project. Lots of talented people were able to but I was not one of them...at all. ha! I used very little of what I purchased. Bazzill had some die cut pieces that matched their chipboard, but the rest ended up in the recycle bin.

I think I must have bought almost everything ya'll have mentioned cause I was thinking yep, I still have all those products. 😆
I have wood veneer potty people, no clue why I bought so much but nonetheless it's still in a drawer somewhere.

Me too! Most of my metal stuff, flair, and acrylic like things are gone. I think I'll save the wooden potty people for a potty training page. Who knows.

One thing I never used were the restroom men/women icons. I just personally couldn't see them and think anything other than restrooms, and I didn't feel the need to bring that idea to mind on a page about anything else. Interesting. To me they are just a generic embellishment- I know they look like potty people but I just don't really associate them with that- they are just people. For example, I used a big one and a little one when I was scrapping the relationship between my little nephew and his 7 year older brother. I think mushrooms are pretty generic, too, but I use a ton of leaves on my pages and it just seems like nature stuff. I always liked the random animal of the month because I just love animals and it was fun making them work. Amy Tan was really fun for that stuff- random food, too. But I will admit that sloths and llamas were hard to make work. I forgot about wire- I never used that. I did use a lot of other metal, though. I loved Creating Keepsakes magazine because it was fun to see what creative things people used. It seems like everyone now uses the same embellishments over and over.
