I miss scrapbook stores. There were 8 in Central Ohio at one point. It was amazing.
I also miss crops. I loved that crop disaster thread- it was hysterical. I ran into so much weirdness at crops and yet I loved them.
What do you miss?

Scrapbook stores SB conventions packed with manufacturers with great deals. With good classes. I used to make a weekend of it. Michaels and Joanns when they had actual brand name stuff in their stores.

I miss the magazines. There so many choices. You could pick the ones with the styles you likes.
I loved the B&M stores. I had about 5 within 20 minutes from where I lived. All those papers and embellishments up close and real.
In person events were awesome. I went to two CKUs and it was so much fun.
My LSS stores had crops with raffles and lunches and/or snacks. I liked ir T when we could all share our layouts and get new ideas.

I didn't start scrapping until 2009, I mean I made a few pages and went to a few crops before that but didn't really drink the Kool Aid until 2009. By the time I figured out I liked scrapping, all the LSS stores were gone. I also miss magazines (of any kind), my mailbox is worthless and boring now. I don't even know anyone in real life that scrapbooks anymore. Tuesday Morning was my "secret" scrap supply store, even before everyone else caught on. It was less than two miles from my house and I shopped there frequently.

Oh, I miss crops so much. I did a 4 day weekend with 12 of us every November.
I miss local stores and I miss the excitement of a new issue of a magazine.

The scrapbook stores, for sure! There is one about an hour from me, and I'll stop in when I'm traveling that direction. But there used to be 2-3 in my city and neighboring cities.

Definitely miss all the stores! There used to be so many in my area, now there is one about 30 minutes away and I'm lucky to have a very small store within walking distance of my house. The small store mostly does stamping stuff but they do sell papers & cardstock too, plus she'll order whatever you want.
I loved getting the magazines as well, it was so nice to just flip through and get so much inspiration.
I miss the old days of the Scrapbook Expo when there would be so many vendors selling stuff for super cheap!

My LSS Cracker Jacks Too (aka Creative Journey) and the one that was in Ontario by Ontario Mills Mall.
QuicKutz Club and the monthly events.
Being able to walk the store and touch all the goodies.
Prices.
Getting away for a crop here and there.
The magazines.
The summer and winter scrapbook conventions that occured in Anaheim where companies showed what was coming out. Forgot the name of it.

I miss seeing, smelling and touching all the paper lines in person. Except for an 8 person annual 4 day retreat, I was never really a crop away from home person, but last weekend I attended a 3 day crop and it really made me miss the old days big time. The best part was the store they set up on site and OMG I spent a ridiculous amount of money. Okay, that was the second best part. The truly best part was spending creative time with 4 friends, a couple that I hadn't seen in person in 5+ years. I managed to only take one rolling cart and one tote with me because I took a couple kits to work on. The volume of stuff some women were bringing in was mind blowing. And I'm pretty sure they spent most of the weekend setting up their space and taking it down again. It was interesting to check out all their organization options that I didn't know about. Our closest scrapbook store is a 2 hour drive in perfect traffic. A beautiful store, but too far for more than a once a year trip at most. ETA pantsonfire Frank Garcia Studio is only a few miles from the Ontario airport

Scrapbook stores with SO MANY different manufacturers!!!!! I miss the innovation with metal embellishments, foam stamps and acrylic paint. Ribbon and charms. Love the older styles.

AH, I the excitement of conventions, the LSS, magazines, local 3 days crops and retreats! It was all lovely. I started in 1997 and got to enjoy all the fun with my Mom and sister. At first we did classes together at conventions and some of the party crops. Then we went to just cropping in our hotel room, setting up mini stations for each of us. We enjoyed groups crops that had about 20 women at a retreat house. They would feed us and have a few games or make-n-takes. The conventions had great make-n-takes too. The conventions started getting smaller, and the classes not as challenging or exciting. My mom wasn't able to go due to my dad's declining health. Everything was dying and then COVID shut it all down. Alas, the heyday was over and we've all gone online! I am very thankful for 2peas and the relationships we have developed here. grammadee, who is the powerhouse and den mother behind the Challenge board. Those who started online crops mom, gramma, and so many others! AussieMeg who heads up SketchySaturdays. I know I am forgetting someone! Just this month I went to an in-person crop sponsored by a Creative Memories Consultant. I was underwhelmed and truly missed the heyday crop of 100+ women (men too on occasion) in a room. Where when you were tired of working you could walk around and be inspired by others! At 2peas the same is true! But at this crop of 10 or so women, I was the only one scrapbooking in more modern style. I did my thing and had fun! I also used punches, border maker, and border punches that were appropriate for my pages. Following our old rule of crops in ages past--use other's tools at a crop and share yours, so your pages would reflect the different fonts and punches that other's owned. Ah those were the days!

In person events were awesome. I went to two CKUs and it was so much fun. Most definitely CKU Provo. I went twice and that was the most fun I’ve ever had with a group of girlfriends. The shopping, the classes, everything about it was awesome.

I miss LSSs (including Memories & Archivers locations), the in-person supply shopping experience (i.e. perusing entire walls bursting with a rainbow of Bazzill cardstock, aisles filled with multiple racks of patterned papers, pegs full of embellishments & tools, etc.), & the plethora & diversity of companies, styles, & creativity in the industry during its heyday.

I don't miss traditional paper scrapping at all, and I certainly don't miss the money I used to spend (digital is soooooo much cheaper!). But I do really miss scrapbook shops. I used to go to the ones near me every weekend, and just wander up and down the aisles looking at all the pretties. I also loved buying scrapbook magazines - I used to buy / subscribe to at least 6 of them in my scrapping heyday. $60+ per month, which looking back, would probably have been better spent on actual supplies!

I miss being able to visit scrapbook stores when we travelled - DH would always find at least one and often several for us to stop at. The only times I went to an Archivers was in Virginia when we drove to RI from FL. Even just visiting Joanns, Michaels, ACMoore, Hobby Lobby was fun because we didn't have them locally - even now I only have HL nearby - J's and M's are an hour+
The little rural town closest to me had not one but two LSS and there was another about an hour away. My bestie and I did a weekend in Orlando where we went to ALL the LSS there and there were quite a few.
I miss the magazines. I miss Lifetime Moments (online store/board). I miss the excitement over new releases and the sheer variety of products and manufacturers.

Since I still have a "local" store that is about an hour away, what I miss most are the huge expos that all the big companies would have booths at. I remember when Sizzix/Ellison and all the other big craft companies would be there, showcasing and demonstrating their new products. It was so exciting to go to those. Now I'm lucky if the expos I go to have 20 vendors, many of whom I don't even know.

Like pretty much everyone else I miss having stores and being able to see product in person and being able to use it the same day I bought it.
I miss some of the old companies, and especially the less themed lines. I miss the expos where I'd save up so I could go crazy and buy loads of new product.
I also miss the magazines. I loved poring over them and bookmarking all the things I wanted to lift, and I loved the excitement of a new issue being released.

Everything, all of it! The crazy ass crops, the local stores, the huge hauls when the Expos and CKCs were good, fun retreats, good stuff at the big box stores, Tues AM, friends that also scrapped, and definitely 2peas and the magazines. Ahhhh, the good ole days. Miss 'em.

As others have already mentioned: in-person crops, local scrapbook stores, magazines...
I just really miss how popular this hobby used to be. I don't know anyone in real life who scrapbooks, and it seems like people think this is a weird thing for me to be doing in my retirement. I always get asked, "So what do you do with your extra time?" (Even though I scrapbooked for decades before I retired.)

Yes - the stores and magazines for me as well. There was one store that ran a crop weekend once a year that I went to with. Friend 3 or 4 times. Really miss those times . I love walking around at the crops and seeing what everyone was working on and what supplies they had

I miss the "Expos" like CKU. There were a ton of vendors and classes that actually taught you something. Classes today seem to be more product push than teaching you anything except how to put together the kit that is featured in the class.
