Please share whether you use 6x6 or 6x8 papers to create (12x12, 9x12, 8.5x11, 10x8, or similar sized) layouts. If so, in what ways do you use these smaller scale patterns on larger sized layouts? TIA

I scrapbook 8.5 x 11. I usually use 4 x 6 photos.
I will use 6 x 6 as a matte behind a photo, and I will add a word title or saying (using alphabet letters) below the photo in the extra 2 inch space-area.

I took an Allison Davis class for using 6x6 paper in layouts. I have only done 2 of the lessons but I've liked them so far.

Back a photo or create a new layers to pull your eye to the photo.
Stips to go being the photo. I have cut in half with just some of the paper being the photo.
Stips layered and steaks to create a base or embellisments.
Banners.
Flags in a corner.

I am using a 6x8 album this year, and I use mostly pocket pages, so those small pads are perfect for me.

I like the look of 6x8 papers as large photo mats on a 12x12 page, especially overlapped in a bracket style background. AussieMeg used a design like that recently in the Gallery.

I have taken a few classes that use that size of paper. It isn't my first choice though. I use it when I cannot get my hands on the 12 x 12 paper. I use it in sketches that I have for that size.

I use it behind pictures or embellishments or I’ll use it to make stripes or banners.
I’m assuming you mean how do we use these on larger layouts like 12x12. Just in case I’m wrong though, I also use them in travel notebooks and mini albums as backgrounds, stripes, edges, etc.

I like making tags out of them because they usually have a smaller version of the pattern. I'll sometimes buy a small pad along with the 12x12 papers because I like the smaller patterns.
I've also overlapped some on pages to work as a type of mat.
I like 6x8 better than 6x6 because I mostly use 4x6 photos and I have to cut the photos down if I use a 6x6.

Yes I do. I do 9x12 now both single pocket and various sized pocket pages. I will use it to back a photo, create strips for the photo, make a banner, make flags, tags, strip for embellishment cluster to rest on and be grounded, to make a circle to ground embellishments near photo.

Here's a layout I made with 6x6 paper. It's the map paper behind the photos. I had 2 sheets of 6x6 paper and put them together.
