Has anyone else been following the story of the missing woman from Maui? She was flying to NY with a layover in LA. She missed her connection, spent two days wandering around LA, and now nothing. Her dad flew to LA to help look for her. He apparently jumped from a parking structure near LAX this weekend. It is such a strange story. Why would she leave the airport, unless that was her plan to begin with. She was seen with a man. And then she started sending strange text to her family. And then her poor dad. Why would he spend over a week in LA looking for her only to later jump from a building? I hope they find her, and she is safe. I caught it on the news sometime yesterday or today. But truthfully I missed the details about the dad. Busy time here.

Yes I have been reading about this since her family put out an alert.
I saw the dad died but didn't know how.
I suspect foul play. For both. Something seems off.

Very strange story and with the weird text messages I wonder if there is someone using her phone and pretending to be her...I read in the CNN article that the dad said that he wasn't around for her growing up (paraphrasing) and that they didn't have the closest relationship.

The whole thing is scary and sad. I didn't realize the ex was flying with her. I thought she was alone. That's a whole need additional concern.

While that article might not mention it, it's a known fact in the case that he is seen getting on the plane in LA and getting off the plane in NYC. The Podcast GOING WEST has a very informative podcast about all the details and breaks things down --- including where the BF was seen, who she Venmoed, etc. My best guess is this will be drug related, and she was abducted. |

The Podcast GOING WEST has a very informative podcast about all the details and breaks things down --- including where the BF was seen, who she Venmoed, etc. My best guess is this will be drug related, and she was abducted. I read several articles and this was the only one that even mentioned him, so if it is a known fact in the case it is extremely lazy reporting to not mention it. It is insane the amount of different information in the various articles online. This one was the one that I had found that had the most info, but as you say it is very lacking. |

I think she and the boyfriend made reservations when they were together but after they broke up still decided to go separately. He did make his flight and arrived in NY okay.

That article has a lot more information than the initial article posted. There are a ton of different articles all sharing different information. |

Definitely a weird story. I get the feeling the exBF has been eliminated as a suspect. SO many questions, beginning with did they even see/talk to each other on the flight? It sounds to me like she bailed on the NY leg but wasn't in a good head space and has wound up in crisis, whether by running into the wrong people or just making bad decision after bad decision and not seeing a way out. I also wonder if her dad's death is going to be attributed to him spiraling into a mental health crisis when he couldn't find her. Made me think of the Elisa Lam story that ended so tragically. |

I think its part of the NXIVM Cult but I am not 100% sure. |

Supposedly the family knows more information from LE that hasn't been released. I think if he thought she were already dead, then I could see where it could push someone towards suicide. |

From what I've read, Hannah and her ex had made the travel arrangements while still a couple and had decided not to cancel when they broke up. It was said that the layover was very brief and that could have contributed to Hannah missing the connecting flight. Why her ex was successful in getting on the plane to NY has not been clarified.
What happened to her Dad is very sad. I'm in the FB group that one of Hannah's sisters runs, and she commented that they are now having to take on the costs of a funeral for Ryan Kobayashi, which further adds to the stress they are already experiencing.

I saw the report that LE feels she intentionally missed her connection. I'm assuming that is based on security video of her in the airport showing her movements, especially as they could also see what directions her exBF went to make the flight. As I commented upthread, her exBF doesn't seem to be a suspect at all (based on no friends, family or LE showing interest in him), so I'm sticking to my thought she had no plan to make the connection.
