I just learned there was such a product. Did anyone here use it and have a negative experience?

I use it. Of all the artificial sweeteners I tried, monk fruit tastes most like sugar to me. I use both the white and golden sugar depending in the recipe. I never experienced any side effects.

It's almost always mixed with erythritol, which can have nasty GI side effects. You can find pure monkfruit extract, but in baking, it doesn't give the same body or browning effects as cane sugar. It's been years since I tried it - it's been around for ages - but that's all I can remember.

Agree you should just be careful what it is mixed with. I use coconut sugar.

My husband starting using it last year due to diabetes. He uses it in his oatmeal and we use it on fruit and in iced tea. We've not had any negative side effects. I've never baked with it.

I absolutely ADORE sweet tea! But, I really needed to cutdown my sugar intake. A few years ago I started searching for a replacement. None were good until I found LAKANTO Monkfruit drops. GAME CHANGING! For me, it's gotta be that brand. In iced tea. It does not tast the same in warm beverages for me. Has to be the drops. Anything mixed with erythritol, etc, has the fake sugar taste that I really. really don't like. Part of my searching, I also found a monk fruit powder/ (again, only mokfruit, no additives). That I can use in my tea as a backup, tastes great, but clouds the tea. I have also used it to sweeten oatmeal and grapefruit. I ordered it on Amazon. lasts forever! Here is a picture of the drops I buy: Edited to Add: I have never noticed any side effects or digestive issues with the drops or powder. I've not ever tried it for baking or cooking because I don't like the additives taste.

I've tried it for various things in the past several years. It is ok, but definitely not the same as sugar. It's impossible to bake with.

I use it in my lattes and hot/iced teas. I don't notice any "funny" taste or gi issues. I have used it for years.
