Or how to stick it to the little guy! Let’s be clear about one thing about this need to cut spending. It’s simply a way to justify tax cuts for corporations and the rich. I have said this before. The GOP agenda is mean-spirited that benefits the few at the expense of the many. Aaron Rupar… ”Rep. Richard McCormick: "We're gonna have to have some hard decisions. We're gonna have to bring in the Democrats to talk about Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare. There's hundreds of billions of dollars to be saved, we just have to have the stomach to take those challenges on." x.com/atrupar/status/1863970489414070299?s=61&t=j45uMgNk1i8O0YllKF58nw

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell you that Trump doesn't intend to do any of these things he's clearly said he will do.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell you that Trump doesn't intend to do any of these things he's clearly said he will do. It's literally like: Trump - "I plan to stand in the town square today and murder 15 people!" Normal people - "Trump plans to stand in the town square today and murder 15 people!" Trump supporters - "That's not what he meant. You're twisting his words!"

Trump supporters - "That's not what he meant. You're twisting his words!" And then, when he does what he says he was going to do, it's either "I don't care about that because it doesn't affect me" or "here's why those 15 people needed to be killed." Or, my personal favorite, "The news is lying to you. My favorite right-wing podcaster told me that Biden/Obama/Harris is really responsible for murdering those people." The mind boggles.

WTAF??? That cannot be true. Tell me this is fake news. I'm looking forward to the Trumpers here trying to decide whether they want to decry this as fake news (noting that it's reported by the conservative NY Post) or justify the POTUS-elect saying such a thing to another world leader.

And there's more.. BTW: There is no new dept of Doge!! House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said he hoped to work with billionaire Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to eliminate more than 75% of federal agencies.During a Wednesday interview on Fox News, host Martha MacCallum told Johnson, "Musk wants to take government agencies from 428 to 99." "Can it be done?" she asked. "We certainly hope so," Johnson replied. "We want to be willing partners in that. And we have a new ability to do this now." "You know, we have our own version of the Argentinian leader with Donald Trump," he continued. "We do have to scale back the size and scope of government. It serves the people. It unleashes the free market again." www.rawstory.com/mike-johnson-elon-musk-agencies/*** BTW: Musk is targeting Social Security...

musk and Sen Mike Lee are at work!! x.com/SSWorks/status/1863959338055823536A lengthy series of X posts attacking Social Security as a "nightmare" caught the attention of the platform's mega-billionaire owner, Elon Musk, who could soon take aim at the beloved New Deal program as co-chair of an advisory commission tasked with identifying federal spending to slash. "Interesting thread," Musk, the world's richest man, wrote late Monday in response to the posts by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), who once said he hopes to pull Social Security "up by the roots and get rid of it," along with Medicare and Medicaid. In his new thread, Lee characterized Social Security—which lifts more Americans above the poverty line than any other federal program—as a "tax plan" insidiously disguised as a retirement plan and condemned the Social Security Act of 1935 as one of many "deceptive sales techniques the U.S. government has used on the American people." Max Richtman, president and CEO of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM), replied Tuesday that Lee's posts amount to "a misrepresentation of Social Security's history and how the program works." *** This is a declaration of war against seniors, people with disabilities, and the American public," Lawson said. "The Republicans are coming for your Social Security, which they call a 'nightmare.' Elon Musk's commission is a plot to destroy our Social Security by giving it to Wall Street executives—so that you get nothing and they get everything." "We've seen this play again and again," he added. "When Republicans destroyed defined-benefit pension plans, they claimed that the market would be able to create amazing returns for everybody. Instead, workers got pennies, while Wall Street managers got billions. That is always the plan. We will defeat this Republican effort to steal our earned benefits. The money is ours, Mike Lee, Elon Musk, and Donald Trump. You're not going to get a penny of it." www.rawstory.com/musk-social-security/

I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think that those hostages will be released before Trump takes office.

^^^^ yes, to prove he is the master negotiator.....
And those that sat home and did not vote for Biden will, unfortunately, feel TFG's wrath as he bombs or sends IDF to bomb Gaza.

So, instead of Hoovervilles, we’re going to have Trump Towns? Or maybe we can call them Don The Condos?

They want to take us back to the good old days of Robber Barons and Captains of Industry. Company towns and company stores.
Which is worse…Handmaid’s Tale or The Jungle?
Didn’t sleep at all last night due to pain. Dr’s appt for unrelated issue this morning. I’m cranky and full on doom and gloom.

I don’t even know what happened to my post lol I had said that if he did “add” Canada as another state he/they would probably loose the house & senate, 2 senators & 52-53 reps could swing things. Not that Canada would just agree or anything but if he is what iffing he ought to think that out a bit more. The things he says to other world leaders does not bode well. I foresee ‘we’ will be on the wrong side of history again soon

Didn’t sleep at all last night due to pain. Dr’s appt for unrelated issue this morning. I’m cranky and full on doom and gloom. One problem I see with how history unfolds is that people who live through things die off and then those remaining no longer have the personal experiences and exposure that remind them what things used to be like. We instead end up with a romanticized past. I feel like we have been living through that with vaccines, where people my age (in our 50s) have always had access and there are fewer people remaining who remember folks paralyzed from polio. Similarly, there are fewer people around who remember the devastating poverty elderly people experienced prior to medicare and social security, when the elderly were our nation's poorest demographic.
