I first noticed this when I went to buy eggnog. Ouch. At the time I read that there were issues with eggs.
And then yesterday I actually bought eggs and they were $3.96 a dozen, even at Aldi.

Um, I didn't write the article, but RFKJr promotes his drinking raw milk. Major issues in safety and what would happen without the FDA monitoring food safety and necessary recalls to save lives! I should have worded that differently. What I should have said it's ridiculous that the farm is calling this a political issue rather than a public health issue. I just found out that my parents are buying and drinking raw milk. My head just about popped off when my mom told me. I think she buys it through her church. She does not even want to hear about how dangerous it is, and she's a registered nurse! This is such a hot button issue for me right now. I am sorry. My grandmother died from food poisoning in her 70s—things like this that are probably risky but not fatal for thirtysomethings are not awesome for older folks.

My kids neurologist saved a boys life when raw milk caused brain issues (as well as other health issues). It made headlines national news. It is so so so so bad for you.

Kind of related... My Kroger has had a sign up for the past couple of weeks apologizing for the low stock of organic milk, saying there's a shortage. I haven't heard anything about this.

I pay €4.70 ($5 approx) for a dozen extra large free range eggs in Ireland. Every food item has gotten so expensive.

We have a lake nearby our house and we took a walk on Thanksgiving and it was stomach turning how many dead birds there were. It has been attributed to bird flu. There have been several dozen confirmed cases in humans. Both eggs and chicken, in general, are going to go up.

I just paid $8.99 for a 30 pack at Costco - large size. The grocery stores here have the same for about $9.50. I'm in Southern Ontario.... I noticed at my NoFrills that I work at a bunch of the NoName brand items have gone up in price. People are always needing to buy groceries so I don't get why they need to raise prices so much. Not like it's affecting my pay .

I didn’t check at Wegmans or Tops, but at Trader Joe’s today I bought a dozen extra large cage free brown eggs for 3.49. I had been buying Jumbos as I could use 3 instead of four, but now there are no jumbos. Only cage free.

Please take into consideration that the feed that the chickens eat (grain) has gone up in price as has the bedding (straw blend) that the chickens sit on as well as the gas for transportation and the heating fuel/cooling costs for the barns has gone up. Farmers do not work for free nor should they be given min. wage considering the conditions that they work in. OntarioScrapper ~~ you get paid what Loblaws pays you under your union contract. Farmer's don't have a union to protect them. It always isn't about YOU.

We live in an agricultural area where, until this last year, many neighbours had laying hens and sold their surplus eggs. Last spring, they were unable to get the day-old chicks b/c of bird flu outbreaks in the hatchery. Many of them went out of chicken raising at that time, and didn;t even try to order chicks this last spring. Those chicks would be of prime laying age right now. But they were never hatched, or did not survive.
Supply and demand means that if there are fewer chickens, there are fewer eggs to buy, and the cost of each goes up.

In central Illinois they’ve been 3.97 a dozen at our Walmart and Aldi’s that is right next door for about three weeks. My dh and I both eat fried eggs for breakfast so we go thru about 3 dozen a week. We were just talking about how that’s probably still cheaper than cereal and milk.
About 15/20 minutes away we do have a Rulers( Kroger affiliate) that has no competition right by it so as of last weekend they were still 1.99.

And I paid $1.62 a gallon at the gas pump the other day. At most we use three dozen eggs a month. I feel like it all kind of evens out.
I’ve been in one of the large chicken barns. It was an eye opener to how those chickens are just crammed into crates with other birds barely able to move. Good luck preventing a bird flu once it finds its way into your facility.

I am west of Houston. If I get eggs at Walmart in Sealy, 60 count is $19.26. But if I drive 20 minutes into Kroger in Katy, the same eggs are $11.55. I also get Organic Milk because I use so little milk and with organic, the expiration date is usually around 2 months. So Walmart is $6.98 and Kroger is $6.29. Both the eggs and milk prices have been like this at Walmart for months! So, I have been doing my shopping at Kroger since just these 2 items alone is worth the savings. And my drive is about the same distance! I was at the beltway and I-10 today, about 7 miles further towards Houston and curiosity had me check to see what Walmarts price of the eggs were and it was 10.56. Probably not worth driving that extra distance but the further you get from the more affluent areas the less the prices. I did pick up 2 doz of my jumbo eggs there for 3.79 eac, which have been costing around 4.25 per dozen. And they were genuinely jumbo, not the puny one I got from Kroger last week!

Another reason to buy pastured eggs if you can find and afford them. The price on those hasn't gone up, at least in my area.

Trader Joe's has the least expensive, every day prices for eggs IME. I usually buy the large white for $2.99/dozen.
All eggs sold in CA are cage free.

The gap between workers and higher ups has gotten way bigger than it's ever been before. That's were my " Not like it's affecting my pay" comes from.

Most eggs around here are about $4 a dozen, though Sam's club is $6 for 2 dozen. The 60ct boxes at Costco are usually one of the best prices in the area, but when I was recently there they were $19 something just like Walmart.
A neighbor clued me in to Kroger (I usually don't go there) having the 60ct for $10 so I was able to grab that deal. We got through a lot of eggs, so that will last us 2-3 weeks.
