The bathroom renovation post made me jealous because we are just starting the process and I already want it to be over LOL.
DH is getting ready to start our master bath soon. We have another bathroom to use, so while this may be messy, it won’t be terribly inconvenient.
We have a large master bath, but it was poorly designed. We have a corner jetted tub that is hard to get in and out of, and I don’t think it has been used even once a year since we moved in. So that will be the first thing to go!
We have a tub in two other bathrooms, so I don’t think getting rid of the whirlpool would be a negative if we had to sell. We plan to age in place, so we prefer to design this GOR our wants instead of some future potential homeowner.
We have a small single bowl vanity with almost no room for toiletries. I set up a small table beside it to hold the things we need beyond the soap and toothpaste around the sink. This vanity is awkwardly positioned by the jetted tub which didn’t really leave room for a bigger vanity, and even the side table doesn’t really fit there. Without the tub, we can have a double vanity -yay! I don’t even care if there are two bowls since DH and I are rarely there together. I
I have talked him into a high-neck faucet with a sprayer, and I’m okay with a kitchen faucet if necessary. I want to be able to wash my hair in the sink without going to the kitchen, and that is impossible with most of the low bathroom faucets.
We have a small shower that barely fits one person. It’s larger than an RV shower but not by much LOL. We are going to do a 4x4 shower to replace it.
The flooring is ceramic tile, but as we age, falling becomes a concern, and we are going for LVT which is a little more forgiving on older bones and won’t be as slippery as high-gloss tile.
Our bathroom closet is a very nice size and will survive the redesign, but the ugly bifold doors have got to go!
We are thinking of adding a dry sauna in the corner where the useless tub is now. We would make much more use of that than the whirlpool tub. That’s a decision that can wait until we lay out the rest of the bathroom, though.
DH is doing all the work himself except for plumbing and electrical, so this might take a while. I need to make sure I get some “before” pictures tonight, because I don’t know when I will come home from work to a demolished bathroom LOL.
