Good morning.
I'm doing my Christmas shopping on Amazon for dh. He will send me a list. I'll add a Home Depot gift card. Boring... My house is decorated, so I can spend time knitting.
What is everyone up to today?
Dinner might be gyoza and steamed rice. It's easy and I'm still very tired and am on day 39 of the headache. Ya. I'm counting.
What's on your menu?
**GypsyGirl**, how did dh's surgery go? How is he doing and how are you and your dd? I'm thinking good thoughts for you.
jeremysgirl, how do you feel today? I hope much better.
leannec, how are you feeling? Did you get any answers about what caused this issue?
What is everyone doing this weekend?
I'll be home knitting, building a lego and doing some chores. Now that everyone is gone, the house is starting to look much better.
May your weekend be fun, relaxing, healing for those who need it and very restorative.

Good morning! I’m leaving soon to meet karenlou to see Wicked. Dinner will be something cooked by someone other than me, probably take out. Thank you all for the kind words, thoughts and good wishes regarding my brother. My heart is broken.

Happy Friday!
I'm finishing up work and then going to pick up around the house. I'm interviewing house cleaners this evening and want to have my house picked up for them. I also have totes from the garage with my Christmas decorations so I'll finish putting them up today.
Anxious to hear how all of the peas are doing with their struggles.
Dinner tonight will probably be leftovers. I made chicken enchiladas last night and I have soup from the night before.
Hope all of you have a good day!

What is everyone doing this weekend? I am staying home. LOL! I hope to sew together a quilt this weekend. Maybe work on my December scrapbook album. **GypsyGirl**, how did dh's surgery go? How is he doing and how are you and your dd? Yes, we all want to know **GypsyGirl**. I'm fine. Little sniffly, little cough, little headache. But better than I've been all week. Jeremy is still healthy. He woke me up at 3:30 this morning though because his truck wouldn't start. Ugh. He was being noisy in the basement looking for the camper battery to jump it. Didn't work. So he called off and came back inside. Where he proceeded to sleep for a couple more hours, but I happened to be wide awake. Now I'm getting tired. He had the truck towed to the dealership to see what's wrong. Fingers crossed it's just a battery. He can do the battery himself. Chloe is bringing over some chicken noodle soup. Apparently my mom made dinner for them last night and that's what she made. So Chloe decided since I'm sick, I need the leftovers. In other news, Chloe got a new job this morning too. This new job pays enough that she will be able to quit the two jobs she's working now and work only this one. Hallelujah! I'm waiting for my background check to come back with my written offer. Good news for everyone here!

I'll swim this morning then need to do lots of things: decorate for Christmas, finish my Christmas letter and order our photo greeting cards. I'm almost finished shopping but still have a few things left to buy. My weekend will be filled with the above. Thinking about you and your DH **GypsyGirl** . Dinner will be Chinese Chicken Salad ~ we ended up having ribs last night. TGIF!!!

Happy Friday dinner friends! I'm having a quiet morning, work is steady, so far- Shhhh don't tell my clients. DH is deciding if he will head to the ranch, it's chilly today and he is NOT a cold weather person. I suspect he'll hang around her which means I'll have to decide on a plan for dinner. Such a rough life! Hehe! Anxious to hear how @gypsygirls DH's surgery went also. KelleeM Enjoy Wicked! It was great! Wishing everyone a great day!

Happy Friday! I'm finishing up work and then going to pick up around the house. I'm interviewing house cleaners this evening and want to have my house picked up for them. I always laugh when people clean up for the housekeeper. I would likely do the same thing, but it still makes me chuckle.
jeremysgirl , It was thoughtful of Chloe to bring you the soup from your mom's house. Perhaps they are both considering your feelings for a change. She has good news w/a new job, too. Have you thought more about whether you're going to have baking day w/them?
KelleeM and karenlou enjoy Wicked. I can't wait to see it. I loved it on stage. I'm thinking of you both and your dear brother.
cadoodlebug, funny meme. Enjoy your Christmas prep this weekend.

TGIF!
I got up early this morning to clean up my kitchen. My employee meeting/party was a success but a lot of work. Everyone loves the taco soup I make so I did two crockpots of it this year and still didn't have leftovers. By the time I got home last night I was too tired to clean the dishes.
I think we are meeting up with some friends we haven't seen for a while for dinner tonight. DH is flying out early tomorrow to my parents. He will get there and immediately turn around with one of their vehicles to drive back. That just leaves my parents one vehicle to drive home in a week or so. I am so lucky to have such a great life partner.
Not sure what I will do by myself tomorrow. Maybe nothing!

Have you thought more about whether you're going to have baking day w/them? I'm on the fence about it. Part of me wants to not go but then there's a part of me that keeps needling me that I'm doing it because I want to punish them and that's not the kind of person I like to be. I just haven't committed to anything except ensuring Jeremy gets some snickerdoodles. He doesn't care where I make them as long as he gets them. LOL!

Good evening all, Today I was in at afterschool care, as one of the other carers was out sick. Being Friday, we had no homework, so we just did lots of craft! It’s St Nicolas Day today, so we also had a little party after lunch with traditional treat. I am exhausted! It will be my last day before I leave, as I just have too much to do and I don’t want to catch any kid germ s before I go either. I told our 4th graders that after the winter break, I am going to start speaking more English to them. They are learning it at school, but this is their last year here and I’ve heard from another carer - whose daughter was in our group up until last summer - that many of our kids struggle with English when they move up to the next level of schooling, so a bit of extra from me should help. While I was out, my Christmas present for me arrived. I haven’t taken it out of the box yet - that will happen over the weekend. I have a couple of simple projects I need to do before I leave, but will really get going once I’m home. We don’t have a lot planned for the weekend. We’ll probably go in to one of the Christmas Markets for lunch or dinner tomorrow, and DH is off to Stockholm Sunday afternoon. Dinner tonight is fish and chips. I bought fresh fish yesterday while I was out and DH will cook once he’s home, as he makes the best beer batter.

Happy Friday! Winter has arrived! Currently in the 40s with wind chills in the 30s! At least it's sunny...and we'll be back in the 70s next week. This is the best way to deal with winter - a few days at a time! Today I'm spending the afternoon with DH then home to do some sewing. I've got an itch to make a tote bag for DD as a Christmas gift. Nothing like waiting to the last minute! Dinner will be chili that is in the fridge. Leftovers = more sewing time! **GypsyGirl**, how did dh's surgery go? How is he doing and how are you and your dd? I'm thinking good thoughts for you. Thank you all so much for your prayers and encouragement yesterday. It meant so much to me. It was a long day/night for us. They took him back for pre-op at 2 pm and surgery started at 3:30. He was moved to recovery at 7:30 and then to his new room on the ortho floor about 10 pm. I finally made it home just after 11 last night. His surgery went very well! The surgeon said that due to his MG they had prepared for a worst case scenario and he came through with flying colors. I said that was his speciality - defying the odds! He only needed one unit of blood and they were able to remove the vent (normal to use for all patients with this surgery) in recovery, so he was able to go to the Ortho floor and not ICU post surgery. He was moving his fingers on that hand so we know the hand still works. DD is up there this morning and just texted that PT was by and had him sitting on the side of the bed already. Still has recovery to get through and then back on his feet with PT and rehab work, but it will come in time. Again, thanks so much for all the support.

stormsts , you married a good man. He sounds like a gem. Enjoy your dinner w/friends and relax if you can, today. jeremysgirl , as long as Jeremy gets your snickerdoodles then you should do whatever you want to do. Make it all about what's best for you. Don't worry about how it looks to your mom. Just think about what would be the most nurturing and healthiest for you. If you want to try to have a family get together then go ahead, but if you're still skittish about being around them all day then stay home and create a nice baking day for yourself. You'll have a built in cookie taster who supports you and always has your best interests at heart. Just make the snickerdoodles first. LOL. sueg , have fun w/your new sewing machine. For anyone who has seen Fiddler on the Roof I'm thinking of Motel and his new sewing machine. The entire town had to go see it. You're almost w/your sweet girls. Enjoy the preparation.
**GypsyGirl**, this is good news. Now I'm going to think only healing thoughts for your dh. May he recover well and come home to finish healing and may you be able to put this behind you as you look fwd to much happier times, ahead. You're a warrior, my friend.

I'm currently on a snickerdoodles kick and have never made them from scratch before. I swear, the recipe I use is the one from the very old Betty Crocker cookbook. My cookbook was a gift from years ago and I even set it on fire and yet, there are several things I still use it for. Snickerdoodles is one of them.

I'm feeling even better today! I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday to update and discuss moving forward ... I will clean my kitchen today because it needs it! I am picking up my guy teacher friend from work this afternoon and we are going to Costco to buy a new microwave and whatever else I see! He is coming over for dinner ... he will also take out my garbage and recycling because he's a doll! No idea what we will have ... we might go to the pub ...

Back East sister arrived in town last night, so dinner tonight will be Mexican at the place formerly owned by my friend. The new owners have done a great job of not changing a thing. 😊 I have a busy weekend coming up so may not check in again for a few days. Rest assured, I will eat, and eat well. Sending love and hugs to KelleeM and karenlou. Such a sad time for your family. Happy for good news from **GypsyGirl** and jeremysgirl, though. Something to celebrate.

Lots of good news in the thread today! Awesome!
I helped my mom put up her Christmas lights in her balcony this morning. She tried to do it herself but had them on backwards so the strings didn’t plug into each other or reach the outlet. We then spent 20 mins looking for her keys which were under a pile of Christmas cards.
I’d love any and all suggestions for a Christmas gift for my mom. She is 82 yrs old, lives alone in a senior apt building. She doesn’t have much money so in the past I’ve bought her grocery store gift cards, clothes, books etc. I usually have ideas for her but this year I’m stumped. Thoughts?
DH and I are going to a show tonight with friends. It’s a tribute to The Travelling Wilbury’s.
Supper is unknown currently. It will be something quick and easy so we can leave for the show.

Can I vent on how frustrating the US healthcare system is? DS turns 26 next week and will be dropped from our plan on his birthday. Not at the end of the month for which we have paid a full premium, but on his birthday. His employer has decided to introduce a medical plan but months later is still working on it with no start date announced. He has a pre-existing condition and needs to maintain coverage. Thankfully we live in CA where reasonable options are available and we think he has picked something that won't cost him an arm and leg. Except it kicks in Jan 1. And effective Jan 1, his PCP is no longer accepting this insurance. I have a telephone meeting this afternoon with SSA to sign up for Medicare. I might have shared I was not able to do it online and instructed to visit an SSA office. While they were lovely, they couldn't do anything more than schedule me for this telemeeting 6 weeks later. I've had a dozen emails/letters telling me the only information I need to have on hand for the meeting is my banking information, so fingers crossed that really is all I need. Glad to see such a positive report on your DH, **GypsyGirl**. I know how relieved you must all be to get that tumor out and on to the next stages of treatment and recovery. I want to go to a local First Friday Art Walk this evening and forgot to mention it to any of my peeps. I'm hoping to eat something there. Tomorrow we are going to a Christmas concert at the Mission San Luis Rey that is a new holiday event for us.

Wow! That is such a frustrating thing with the insurance for your son bc2ca. Chloe turns 25 in May and I'm hoping we can get her more stable before she has to be responsible for her own healthcare at 26. I just hate that our healthcare is tied to our employment.

bc2ca does your insurance have a clause that he can stay on past age 26? Our does and because the kids have pre existing conditions and are disabled they can stay on. The employer insurance office should have info for you to see what qualifies coverage. Dh has to meet with that dept once a year to go over insurance and got the info needed for how we keep the kids on. Hoping there is that option for you!

Ended up at UC with ds. Thankfully it is just his allergies. Thought he possible had pink eye. This dry windy warm weather is prolonging all of our allergies. It needs to get cold and rain!! By now we are off additional allergy meds. Boo. So he is on an allergy eye drop.
Ran errands with the kids and now we are home relaxing with the dogs.
Dd and I are having baked potatoes. I picked up red sauce enchiladas at Stater Bros for dh. Shredded beef. Look really good!! He is not a baked potato kind of guy.

KelleeM and karenlou......So very sorry about your dear brother. Losing a sibling is a unique kind of grief (at least in my experience). **GypsyGirl**....What awesome news of how well your DH is doing !!! I'm sure yesterday was veryyy long and stressful for you and DD. leannec.....So glad you're feeling better. scrapmaven.....hoping that botox you got FINALLY kicks in soon so you can get relief !!! I had no idea migraines could last this long---that is just horrific, and I'm sorry you have to endure it on top of everrrrrything else you deal with. jeremysgirl......Hoping you continue to feel better, and CONGRATS on the new job! I've been in moderate to severe pain all week. Had to wait foreverrrr to see the hip surgeon, as usual. They think my hip pain is actually a spinal issue....yipppee! Seeing a spinal doc next week, and they think possibly spinal injections will help the hip. Spinal injections (OR ANYTHING!) sounds great----just please end this pain! The doc that does the spinal injections is a pain specialist, and the spine doc will have to refer me. Gee, I wonder how long THAT'S gonna take. Having 2-3 headaches *almost* every day/ evening lately, with a very painful shoulder blade and other things that are probably spinal-related, so I'm hoping spine guy will help with that, too. The other day, I was whining and feeling sorry for myself--especially becaues of the long wait to see doctors! Then realized there are so many people out there in much worse pain than me, who are also waiting very long to see specialists, so I just have to be a more patient patient. All I can say is thank God for TENS units and ice and chair exercise and stretches on YouTube !!!!! Yesterday, DH and I were having fun at the grocery store, and then....BAM....headache! I am SO tired of it. Tomorrow I HOPE to meet a dear friend for lunch. Even if the pain is high, I'm still gonna go!
