This country just elected a person who sexually assaulted a woman. We all know his famous quote of why he thinks he can grab a specific part of a woman’s anatomy whenever he wants because he’s a celebrity. Twice very qualified woman lost the presidential election to the idiot who never had no where near the qualification these women have. Many of the men he has chosen to be part of his administration have had some sexual accusations made against them. And now this from a member of Congress.. I listened to the video in the link and he was very dismissive to this rape allegation. Like so what if he raped this woman. It’s no big deal. Do you think women are regularly dismissed simply because they are women? x.com/atrupar/status/1865090366816264521?s=61&t=j45uMgNk1i8O0YllKF58nwAaron Rupar… ”Chip Roy dismisses the Pete Hegseth rape allegation: "We've all had some indiscretions in our past and things like that."

Chip Roy would take issue with this if a Democrat was accused of something like this. When it is a Republican it is dismissed as indiscretions.

Some responses to Chip Roy’s comment
”Since when is sexual assault and or rape an "indiscretion"? The GOP is willing to rationalize anything.”
”So rape is normal to these people? What a disgrace!”
”What's a rape or two among buddies”
”WTAF what if this “indiscretion” happened to his wife or his daughter?? Fucking disgusting, worse is the women who still support the GOP.”
Good question.
“Is he serious? Rape is not some indiscretion we all have in our past lives. Republicans sure are working hard to normalize rape now.”
”Chip, just come out and say it, women are second class citizens to you. You are obviously in f**cked up MAGA infected district in Texas so blurt it all out. I never had that kind of indiscretion in my past, because I respect people for people regardless of their demographics!”
”And that’s how men view rape… A woman was “inconvenienced” but for the man it was like a tiny indiscretion.
In REALITY, their actions destroy people’s lives but they don’t care because we exist only to please them.”

Do you think women are regularly dismissed simply because they are women? Is this a rhetorical question? Rape culture is alive and well in this country and around the world. We need to teach our sons that "boys will be boys" is not an acceptable standard or excuse for anything and have real consequences for sexual assaults. And recognize/acknowledge that a person is more likely to be raped by someone they know, often a person of trust in their lives, than a stranger. And the shame is most often put on women who are brave enough to come forward over some boy who needs to be given a second chance rather than have his life or career ruined.

I had an epiphany earlier this year: there are a lot of men who flat out do not like women very much. Even if they’re married; even if they have daughters. Even if they say they love their mama.
And there are also a lot of pick me’s - women who so badly want to be chosen they’ll prop up the patriarchy at the expense of other women.

Chip Roy is one of the biggest asses in congress.
And in many states, women have less bodily autonomy than a corpse. We make less than men with the same job and experience. Jobs that tend to be woman-dominated are paid less than jobs that require a similar amount of training and expertise. Women who succeed are suspected of "sleeping their way to the top" rather than people suspecting that male superiors required sexual favors in exchange for advancement. They are often suspected of being "DEI hires" as well, particularly if they are women of color. Qualities that are considered beneficial in a man in the workplace or politics - decisiveness, assertiveness, leadership, etc. - are negative for a woman to hold. Our health concerns are not given the same weight and importance as men’s are. We are expected to endure painful and invasive medical procedures without anesthesia. We are blamed for our own rapes and assaults.
So yeah, I’d say we lack respect.

Chip Roy, sexual assault is not an indiscretion! It is a personal assault on a person, generally a female!

Trying to figure out why this was asked.
Yes!
Until women aren't belittled, raped, drugged, sold off by a pimp, thought less than, told we are too emotional, must prove ourselves, questioned about our ethnicity, not told we are crazy cat ladies because we don't want kids, can't wear natural hair because (fill in the blank), are looked down upon when we don't dress up, can't buy a vehicle without a man there, are used for the pleasure of men, are used for a thing called patriarchy by pumping out kids and bowing down to men, etc etc etc
We are disrespected.

Here is a perfect example of why some women tell anyone if they are sexually assaulted or raped. Aaron Rupar… “Sen. Kevin Cramer on Newsmax suggests the sexual assault allegation against Hegseth is part of a "smear campaign" and makes excuses for Pete, saying he "doesn't have experience in politics" (Hegseth in fact ran for US Senate in 2012) x.com/atrupar/status/1865069901645238478?s=61&t=j45uMgNk1i8O0YllKF58nw

I answered yes, but wanted to note that before the Trump era, things were improving for women. Many men DO respect women, but there has been an alarming surge of men who think that women should get married, stay home, have babies, and defer to their husbands. Ladies, if you know a man like this, he is in a cult. For your own good, get the hell away from this person. Some young women have begun to espouse the trad wife life. It’s all beer and skittles until hub finds a younger model. There you are, with (say) 4 kids and no training or work experience. You are screwed-and not just by your husband. Get training and job experience. Insist on it. It might just save you down the road.

I commented on a different thread a while ago that I was sharing a hotel with a couple conservative ladies from Texas at an event a few months ago. At one point one they were talking about their kids and one of them was saying that her 20-something son’s girlfriend had recently dropped out of college after just one semester, stating that there was no reason to continue since “all she ever really dreamed of is being a wife and mother and you don’t need a degree for that,” or something to that effect. And she was completely on board with that. It took everything in me to not comment, “Yes, until some misfortune hits her family and she needs to be able to step into the role of primary breadwinner, because something happens to her DH or he decides the grass is greener with someone else. Now she has a bunch of kids, no education, no work experience and no way to support herself and the children she helped bring into the world. That’s a great plan.” You can’t even make this shit up. How can anyone in the world today be that clueless?

Otherwise, you could find yourself as a middle-aged woman who has to take a lousy paying job that won’t support her or her children. Problem is, no one thinks that they will end up like that.

They’re peddling a “serve the home and family only” lifestyle - and potentially leading young women to leave themselves financially vulnerable - while actually earning money for spending a lot of time producing content (you know, having a job).

I agree, I’m telling my DD the exact opposite and that she would be wise to apply herself in school and get as much education as she can so she can be the boss instead of someone’s underling. I also want her to understand how money and politics work too so she can make informed decisions for herself.

Men have been / are in charge, and have most of the advantages, so they don’t see anything wrong in acting / talking like that. Even about women they actually know / purport to love and respect.

I really like what writer Celeste Davis has to say about men who hate women and men who love women. After reading this, I've been categorizing men I know in my mind according to these two classifications.
Here is an excellent quote:
"From the time boys are preschoolers on up through adulthood- the worst thing to be is like a girl. The worst way to run is like a girl, the worst music is girly music, the worst things to care about are the things girls care about, the worst way to act is like a girl.
'The smallest transgression of traditional masculinity, leads to huge, enormous acts of rejection from other men. Often from the men they care the most about.' - Liz Plank
Is it any wonder boys don’t like girls? Is it any wonder they grow up to be men who don’t respect women? When their entire lives they’ve been conditioned to shun all things feminine?
Why would they like the embodiment of everything they’ve been taught to hate?"
It's the Patriarchy. As usual.

Sorry, harris was nowhere near qualified. And an allegation is just that, an allegation. Not proof. Harris is way more qualified than Trump, especially prior to him being elected the first time. She is also much more qualified than Vance, who will likely have to take over for Trump at some point. Trump was found guilty in a court of law, by a jury. This is one example of why I said that you won't believe something until it happens to you. At this point I think if it did happen to you, you would still find a way to justify it and deny that Trump is a bad guy. Also, the incidence of false allegations is likely very, very low. Women go through hell after they report rape and sexual abuse. Lying about it doesn't really have benefits.

Sorry, harris was nowhere near qualified. And an allegation is just that, an allegation. Not proof. Noe that I have stopped laughing I have a question. What specific qualifications does trump have that make him mote qualified to be president? Also what specific things did trump do as president that benefited all Americans. Edited to add, as a reminder this is trump’s resume. Harris’s resume would include graduation from college with a law degree. She did 2 terms as San Francisco’s DA, two terms as CA AG, elected to the US Senate and was VP for 4 years. trump’s resume… 1. When trump and his old man owned apartment buildings in NYC they ran afoul of the city for finding ways not to rent apts to black folks. 2. His old man reportedly gave him $1M to start his own business but failed and his daddy had to bail him out. 3. He has filed bankruptcy between 4-6 possibly 8 times. Not the sign of what one would call a successful businessman but someone who continues to make bad business decisions. 4. In the state of New York he can no longer be associated with a charity because of mishandling of donations received for the charity he had. He spent the money on himself . 5. trump University was found to be a fraud. Fined $20M. 6. Has a reputation of not paying his subcontractors. 7. The State of NY found trump & co were less than honest in valuing their properties. As a result the company was find $300M+ and no longer do business in the State of NY. Yes some executive took the fall but there is no way the idiot didn’t know and approve what was happening. 8. In a law suit filed against him he was found, among other things, to have sexually assaulted a woman. 9. There is the famous tape of him claiming that because he was a “celebratory” he could grab women by the pussy! 10. He is in record saying women should be punished if they have an abortion. 11. As president he called the president of Ukraine and told him he would without US aid unless he dug up dirt on the Bidens. He was Articles of Impeachment were filed but the Republicans in Congress “circled the wagons’ and protected him. 12. As president his lack of leadership skills became apparent during the pandemic. Sometimes I wonder how many Americans would still be alive today if we’ve of had a true leader in the White House. 13. Dereliction of Duty. I checked the timeline for 1/6. Within 30 minutes after the attack started the rapid response National Guard team was ready to go. They just needed trump to give the order. Which he did not do for another 90 minutes. He was too busy watching the attack on tv while ignoring his son and members of Congress asking him to do something. Finally after 90 minutes, roughly 2 hours after the attack started, he gave the order for the National Team to go. When criticized for the delay he blamed Nancy Pelosi. 14. Let’s not forget his call to GA where he asked the election officials to “find” a specific number of votes because he just knew he had won. Charges were filed against him for election interference. Which I suspect have gone away. 15. When he left office he took mementos with him that included classified documents that he had no business having. When asked to return them he “thumbed his nose” at tge officials asking him to return them. Eventually the FBI had to get them. 16. Eventually federal charges were filed because his actions on 1/6 and handling of classified documents that reportedly included information about our nukes. 17. Once out of office he started making serious accusations that he never backed up with any proof. They include * The election was stolen from him. Offered no proof. * Late term abortions that when you hear him describe them it sounds like murder. Offered no proof. * Claimed the migrants coming across our borders were from mental hospitals and prison. Offered no proof. 18. Almost forgot. Was convicted of federal crimes involving hush money and how he handled it. He was awaiting sentencing but I suspect it will go away.

THIS was EYE-OPENING!!! The article, as well as the comments- she links to another one titled 'Never Meet Your Heroe's Wives" which was also very good. (and kind of sad, actually.) You totally can tell when men actually *like* women, and when they don't. Sadly, there are SO MANY MORE out there - in US society, especially - who do NOT like women, don't respect their opinions / knowledge / experience / viewpoint, etc. just because they're women.

Sadly, men aren’t the only ones who disrespect women.
Many conservative women have been brainwashed to disrespect other women, and that was so evident in this last election.😡
