Hi everyone! I'm so excited! My dd's and my mum are coming over at 1pm to have lunch and put up my Christmas tree and all of my other decorations! My energy level is still not back to normal so I won't do as much as usual ... just supervise ... I will set up my salt and pepper collection ... I think I have close to 20 sets! I will post photos tomorrow! This is what I posted on Facebook today: Dinner will be rechauffe cottage pie that I brought home from the pub last night ... so good! How is your migraine scrapmaven? How is your pain scrappintoee? How are your stones rymeswithpurple? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Happy Saturday. Today, DH and I went into the city to visit our favourite Christmas Market - the Medieval Market - for flaming glühwein and lunch. It was really cold, but we avoided the rain until we were walking home from the bus stop. It was fun in there today - there was a group (I think a family) with falcons on their arms near one stand, sword fights happening and a steampunk fire breathing dragon! This afternoon has been football and I’ve finished off two of the three knitting gifts I’m working on. Dinner tonight is a chicken stir fry. DH smooshed up garlic, ginger, onions, chilli and coriander leaves into a fresh paste and is marinating the chicken in that. Meals for the next few days are aimed at using up perishables in the fridge. DH is away tomorrow until Wednesday and I am leaving Thursday, so we are trying not to produce much in the way of leftovers or waste.

leannec , have fun today. It's ok to put your feet up when you're tired. Your family will understand. Maybe being in the Christmas spirit will cheer you up, as well. sueg , can you please share some Christmas market photos? What a fun and festive way to go through the holidays. Thank you for asking about me, leannec . The migraine is almost completely gone. It's very dull and mostly absent. Though I still have wrinkles and crows feet despite Botox. I was hoping that I'd get a twofer. I'm really fried from having that headache for so long. I hope to regain some energy. It's the holidays. Today I have some tidying to do. Then I'll probably knit. It's low key, but that's on purpose. Dinner will be tacos. I'm am re-energizing. Enjoy a fun, relaxing and easy weekend, my lovelies.

Your Christmas decorating sounds like fun leannec! Don't push yourself too hard. But enjoy your girls. sueg your trip really did sneak right up didn't it? Maybe it only seems that way to me. I swear time does not exist between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's just one big slippery slide from one holiday to the next. scrappintoee I read the dinner thread this morning and I really hope you start feeling better. ❤️ I feel better but I'm still not quite right. I am doing laundry and I feel winded coming up the basement stairs. I'm making Jeremy be my assistant today. I did tidy up my kitchen. He went for groceries and I put them away when he got home. I'm showered and in a fresh pair of pajamas. I haven't worn real clothing since Tuesday. 😂 No one feel sorry for me! I'm totally on the upswing. I think I'm going to crochet. And have leftover pizza for dinner.

jeremysgirl, I've been living in my lounge pants. Relax and heal. It occurred to me that you probably felt better faster because you aren't smoking anymore. You'll heal better. Still, it must have hit your airways a bit, so take it easy. Crochet and rest.

Yesterday was the first day that I actually didn't sleep during the day time. 😂 My animals know I'm sick. They are super clingy. Driving me nuts.

The show “A Tribute to the Travelling Wilburys” that DH and I saw last night was awesome. The singers were dressed as their counterpart (Tom Perry, George Harrison, Bob Dillon, Roy Orbison) and looked great. So fun!
My bestie and I are taking our moms to a Christmas musical at our local theatre this afternoon. I’m sure that we will be the youngest in the crowd. After the show we will drop off the moms and then go for supper and some shopping in the city.
DH is on his own for supper so he will probably have McDonald's.

DH and I just got back from a walk. Other people complain about the leaves on the ground, I like the look! We passed a house up the street from us and the leaves look like they are at least a foot deep. I love all the colors! Today is dedicated to addressing Christmas cards and decorating. Dinner will be gumbo! Oldie but goodie!

Yesterday's meeting with SSA was good and we were told everything should go smoothly for transitioning to Medicare at the beginning of the year. I asked DH to be there and was so glad I did because the administrator needed to talk to him and get him to swear he was telling the truth, too. It's slightly scary when people tell you it "should" go smoothly when you are still incurring massive medical expenses every six weeks, but I'm really working hard to stay zen about it all.
I feel like I'm on repeat with my plans for the day: finish decorating, finish Christmas cards and knit. I'm going to add in finish my book since I'm really close.
This year I really want to add a few extras to our usual holiday activities so we are going to a Christmas concert at the local mission (for those not familiar, the Spanish missions are a big part of the history/growth of California and the first 2 missions of the 21 on the California Mission Trail are in San Diego County).
I'm really not sure what our dinner plans will be.

Happy Saturday! It's already been a busy day. I was up at 4am to get DH to the airport. When I got home I couldn't go back to sleep so I've been doing laundry, online shopping and have already been to the office to do a few things and am now back home. I am going to the Christmas Parade tonight with all the kids and grands. It should be fun. I haven't been in years. I hate that so many of our group are ill. Sending healing thoughts to all of you! I can't imagine what you must feel like scrapmaven after having a migraine for that long. leannec enjoy your girls and mom helping you decorate. I am sure it will be fun! jeremysgirl do what you need to do to get to feeling better. I just came downstairs and am watching football. I've got the Christmas tree lights on and am working on my Christmas cards. I almost wish I could stay here all day. Will probably take everyone out for dinner after the parade.

the first 2 missions of the 21 on the California Mission Trail are in San Diego County When DS was doing his 4th grade mission project, we just happened to be going down to visit my sister and her family in San Diego. He asked his teacher if he could do one of the missions down there and got permission. It was great!

Our kids don’t do Mission projects anymore. I believe they are frowned upon. Have the Missions become politically incorrect? 🤪 bc2ca, my transition to Medicare was absolutely seamless, for whatever that’s worth. It was handled by CalPERS and I remained with Kaiser, just switched from regular insurance to senior advantage. If anything, my coverage is even better now than it was before.

Have the Missions become politically incorrect? 🤪 Some people decided it took too long and the time could be better spent on English and Math. Don't know if it was politically motivated or not.bc2ca, my transition to Medicare was absolutely seamless, for whatever that’s worth. This was our experience too. It was handled by us and we just switched to senior advantage. We pay $21 a month for that. Best deal in town.

we had a lovely dinner out last night.. I had chicken on a salad and we had ginger crunch for dessert.. but they said it was not the usual ginger crunch. elderberry sorbet at lunchtime. went to a local museum.. really interesting information about the massive presence of usa troops in this area in ww2. who knew?
tonight.. I have no idea. we are spending the afternoon cleaning out the camper van and packing our bags to fly out tomorrow. it will rain tomorrow so this is the best day to do it.
I think our friends are getting out chicken for dinner. they have to spend the afternoon down south so it will be a late dinner. whatever.
for those who know new zealand, I am up on the snell beach area.. near warkworth. wellington tomorrow!

Happy Saturday!
I took my dad to get a manicure today for his birthday. They think he's so cute and he tells everyone he's 93. We got the paraffin wax and hot stone massage and they kept teasing him that they were going to put red sparkle on his nails. My hands feel so soft and smooth. We were supposed to go to lunch after but he was eating breakfast when I picked him up so he wasn't hungry. I picked up some Chipotle for myself.
Not sure what dinner will be tonight. I'll probably see what my sister has going on and invite myself.
Hope you all have a great day!

It was handled by CalPERS and I remained with Kaiser, just switched from regular insurance to senior advantage. If anything, my coverage is even better now than it was before. When my kids were doing Mission projects they were able to pick whichever one they wanted but they were absolutely NOT allowed to use any the Michael's Mission kits if they chose to make a model (one of the options). Everyone had to do a presentation and DD focussed on the wine making at San Juan Capistrano and DS focussed on the cruel treatment of the native population. One of the girls in his class took the opposite side and praised the Catholic Church for saving so many souls. Made for a very interesting presentation day. I'm not surprised the Mission history is being reviewed to include a broader POV than that of the conquerers. My main concern about the Medicare transition is that I haven't been able to apply the same way everyone else I know has applied (including DH) and that it takes so long to get appointments. I wanted everything up and running on day one. It does look like I should get a number issued before the end of the year, fingers crossed.

Dinner will be on a holiday antique train ride and I will probably be freezing my tushy off. Turns out that Father Junipero Serra tortured Native Americans. He's become controversial. The missions are so interesting, though. Perhaps that's also contrary to the current school climate.
Are you going on the Napa Valley Wine Train? The food was delicious when we rode the train. Enjoy your train ride.
bc2ca, our biggest expense is paying for insurance. Thank goodness we have it, though. My migraine stuff was billed at $35k w/o the Botox treatment that will likely be a lot. For a headache? That's highway robbery.

(((Hugs))) and prayers for all who are unwell or otherwise struggling.
DD18 is cooking tonight - she's making a pasta salad...it's ...not my favourite. I don't like pasta in general, cold pasta even less, and she add all sorts of ingredients that don't improve it, imo. She loves it though and there's plenty I cook that she doesn't like.

leannec No pain today! My bottle is still on the delivery truck. 😂 DH and I went to Michaels and IKEA this morning, Panera for a lunch date, and then spent the afternoon at the university he works for for a basketball game. His coworker gets season tickets and hands them out to games she can't make. KelleeM & karenlou Sending both of you all the love and hugs! ❤️

KelleeM and karenlou----So very sorry !!! It's slightly scary when people tell you it "should" go smoothly when you are still incurring massive medical expenses every six weeks, but I'm really working hard to stay zen about it all. I hope it goes smoothly for you! I hate that you have to worry about this when you've been through soooo much with your health! And how outrageous that your son's COBRA is $1,200/ MONTH! . I know we can't talk about politics on this thread, but can I say these things are just going to get worse!!!! ? San Juan Capistrano and DS focussed on the cruel treatment of the native population. One of the girls in his class took the opposite side and praised the Catholic Church for saving so many souls. Made for a very interesting presentation day. All this Mission talk is very interesting; I need to do some googling. We used to live in San Antonio, and the ONLY thing I know about the missions there is that they're pretty to look at, especially along the river at Christmastime. leannec.....LOVE your meme! Such a happy doggie! Hope you keep feeling better! cadoodlebug.....Clever meme!
