I'm going to order a HoneyBaked ham this year for Christmas. I've only ever had it one time while visiting family friends when I was 20 so it's been a looong time!
I live about 12 miles from a HBH store so I can pick it up. It's a bit of a drive with heavy traffic but not impossible, however, my work schedule is very heavy in the lead up to Christmas. My questions are:
1. Will the in person pick up one be fully baked but refrigerated? 2. Not previously frozen? 3. There is a coupon code on their website for 20% off the shipped ones that come frozen. If 1 and 2 above are correct, I'm thinking the frozen version will not be as good as the fresh.
What is your preference of in person pick up or delivered if you live close enough to pick up. Does the glaze hold up better on the fresh/not frozen ones? Thanks.

I don’t know if they have been frozen beforehand, but they are refrigerated at the store. They are fully baked. We don’t buy a whole ham because they are too big, so we do pickup. We usually buy two of the 1lb slices.

I’ve only picked them up in person, yes they are fully cooked and come with instructions on how to serve.
Per ChatGPT the ones in the store are shipped to the store frozen.

I have not ordered one in years. We found the ham from Aldi was just as good and much less costly. I never use the glaze because it adds too much sugar to the meat.

Hams are cooked and they are refrigerated at the store. I have never ordered one to be shipped so I cant comment on those.

I don't recall a difference between picking one up and shipping it. Last year we shipped it to my SIL's house since she cooks the dinner. We timed it to defrost, and it was good. I've grown up having their hams for Christmas dinner, but I'm my parents picked them up. I think knowing how to warm it is the key. We are working out that detail still.

I didn't know you could have one shipped and I've been getting them for years! I warm ours up wrapped in aluminum foil in the crock pot on low for about 4 hours. I do add some apple juice to the bottom just to make sure it stays moist. They are yummy!

They are cooked and refrigerated. 12 miles is a long way for you? Wow…I must live in the middle of nowhere because that isn’t far at all. I get one Easter…pick up on Friday and warm on Sunday

We get a HoneyBaked ham every year and never warm it in the oven, we serve it at room temp.
We’ve always picked it up at the store, never ordered home delivery, never needed to. I try to pick it up about 5 days before the holiday to avoid the rush. If we’re picking it up the day before the holiday, we get there at opening time, and it takes two people. One to drive and drop off the picker-upper. The store gets mobbed and there’s no place to park.
It’s best to order online a few days before you want to pick up the ham. We get a large (8-10 lbs) half ham. That feeds lots of people, with leftovers. I like to make split pea soup with the ham bone and leftover ham a few days later.
