Thanks for all the suggestions. We decided to skip the trip and work on paying off a couple of bills instead and finishing up some projects in the house. We have a bathroom under construction and it's been stalled for awhile. It needs only about two days worth of work but ya know.. life.. I think though we just might do a one/two day night in Blackhawk/Central City (casino towns not to far away, but far enough away...lol) they have some nice hotels and such.. so might just do that.
Once we have a few things taken care of our budget will open up and we can maybe do something in the fall time.. or summer..
------------------------- DH and I want to take a small trip in February. His birthday/Valentines are close together. Actually not a time I want to go, but he wants to.... so these are the places we are thinking about..
Savannah, GA Charleston, SC Seattle, WA
haha.. totally different places
California is out. New Orleans is out. We thought about Key West, but I hear it's expensive, and just not now. Hawaii to far/to expensive anyways.
Or is there somewhere out there I am not thinking of.

There are way better times to go to Seattle than February. Unless, you want to experience what "it doesn't seem like it's raining, but why is everything so wet?" and high/low daily temperature swings of 5-8 degrees feels like. I've never been to the other two places you are thinking about, so I don't have an opinion, but anyplace warm sounds good to me.
Scottsdale / Phoenix?

I read your list and I live in the Seattle area and honestly, February would be my choice for worst month to come. The other two places on your list sound good to me. Charleston is on my list of wanting to go. Come to Seattle another time in late spring or summer (the best time).

I’ve been to Savannah in March. It was a little cold, but overall very nice. It is a great little city and everything is so close. We were only there for a couple of days, so we didn’t explore much outside the area, but I heard Tybee Island is a nice day trip from Savannah. I wouldn’t mind going back to Savannah. Lot of good food.

I’ve never had a desire to go to Phoenix or Scottsdale… not sure why How about Sedona? Are you looking for warmth or just a get away? Northern Arizona (where Sedona is) can get cold in the winter. It snows in Flagstaff.

I live in Seattle. February is really, truly miserable here (I love my city I love my city I love my city). Don’t do it.
Savannah and Charleston are 2 hours away from one another. You can easily spend time in both of them. I’ve visited that general area twice and each time flew into one city and out of the other. There’s a quaint little town called Beaufort in between them.

Id flip a coin between Savanah n Charleston... depending on how much time you will be going... or do both as suggested...
They are both on our list of places to visit

How about Washington, DC? Fewer tourists in the middle of winter. It will probably be cold but if it's too cold for you there are plenty of indoor things to do. i.e., all the museums. Lots of good restaurants. And the outdoor memorials are lovely in winter also, as long as it's not too windy.

Without reading the other responses yet, I am going to say how about New Mexico or Arizona. Those would be my immediate choices for a quick mid winter getaway. Savannah and Charleston are nice and I would be happy to visit either. I have been to both of those more than the South West, though.
Truthfully though, if it really didn’t matter I would go where I could get the best deal for travel and be able to spend a bit more on accommodations, food, and activities. Good luck. I hope you find somewhere great, and it is nice to have a fun trip to look forward to.
ETA - I see you don’t really have a want to go to the South West so I would go with Savannah first and then Charleston second. Good luck planning.

Yeah I kinda agree with everyone on the Seattle idea. That was his thought and I was like “in February??” So yeah I think that one is out of the running.
I love the idea of DC but I think we want a little more low key than that. I might save that one for another time. I’ve been there once and would love to explore again.
I know another suggestion for the southwest and that just doesn’t interest me at all. It’s weird I have no reason to not want to visit those areas but nope.. I definitely would rather go to SC somewhere first.

Personally I like Savannah better than Charleson. Both are beautiful with plenty to do. February is a toss up. You might get beautiful days. It might be cold, windy and/or rainy. You never know. So far we are having an unusually cold late fall in the south. Whether this means an early spring, I don't know.
Hilton Head Island is 45 minutes from Savannah if you want to spend time at the beach.

Another no vote for Seattle in February. It’s no fun playing tourist in the cold rain and there could be snow. Which here often shuts everything down.
I would have said HI, since we often go there for a break from the Seattle weather.

February in Seattle is miserable. it's grey, rainy and just not the city at its best. Summer is the best time to visit the PNW.

You'll beat the crowds/tourists but DC often gets snow in February and everything tends to shut down. I lived there for a few years and while locals like the off-season, it's often tougher for tourists.

I'd do Charleston, Savannah or somewhere in Florida. We've done 30A in Florida in Feb and it was nice --- it's considered off season so rates were cheaper for Rosemary Beach and not crowded. Have you thought about a cruise?

I live in Seattle and second everyone who has said that February is just not the month to visit (I personally don't mind the wet and the dark, but I don't think most people are looking to vacation in it). I lived in SC for five years and during that period and since have visited Charleston and Savannah both a number of times. I think Charleston is much more interesting and fun to visit, and the nearby beach communities are beautiful, so if I'm choosing between those two locations, I'd pick Charleston, hands down.

Savannah!
I've never been to Charleston so it may be as good as or better, but Savannah has a piece of my heart. We really enjoyed it.

Feb is off season for Hawaii, so it will be cheaper. Still a long way to go, though. Hawaii peak season is mid-December through March. I've been researching for a spring trip and Charleston/Savannah are at the top of the list right now. We will probably do both cities. We have been looking at Nashville which would be good for a short trip, especially if you are a country music fan, but our group is leaning to the coast. Taos/Sante Fe is also on our list, but not in February unless we were going to ski.

Stayed in Taos for a couple of nights and Santa Fe for a few more. If you love art and artists, you will have an amazing time in the area. The hiking is great and there are so many interesting old sites to visit. I'd go back in a heartbeat. I hope you make it over that way eventually!

My 50+ years BFFs and I had the trip planned and booked for our 60th birthdays in 2020 when you know what happen. It's still on our list but I think we are all a little worried booking it will jinx us and trigger another pandemic. If I don't make it with my girlfriends, this is definitely a trip DH will be happy to take. I just have to get him to retire.

We went to Nashville in February and had a blast!!!! I have been to Nashville twice as an adult and had amazing fun both times. I am not a huge country music fan and none of our group was but we all LOVED the amazing live music we heard everywhere.

We were just in Charleston for a long weekend over Thanksgiving. Its a lovely city and I would definitely recommend it for a visit. You didn’t say if you were driving or would be flying in. If you don’t have a car you will want to stay in a downtown hotel. It’s a very walkable city. We drove and stayed at a waterfront hotel that had a shuttle into downtown and that was nice even though we had a car. It was good not to have to deal with parking. If you do have a car Sullivan’s Island and Mt Pleasant are nice areas to see and you can visit the beach.

I think Charleston sounds great. My friend’s daughter just moved back home after living there and she visited while her daughter was there and loved it. I even planned to go down and visit but ran out of time. So I did some research on the beaches and stuff to do and it looks like it would be fun. They also did Virginia Beach and really loved it. Another one to consider might be the coast in Alabama. There are some beautiful beaches there.

For an eastern coast trip in February I would choose Naples, Fla. it will be WARM. Naples is lovely. A great place to walk the streets, and the dining experiences are renowned. There a beautiful botanical gardens, and you can get a boat tour of the harbor areas and watch the dolphins chase your boat. Great place to visit In midwinter. February in Charleston or Savanah can be cold and windy. I would not go to either before late March.
