I am trying to find 100% cotton pillowcases, that aren't scratchy and sleep cool in standard/queen size. I've returned 2 sets to Amazon and 1 to Walmart (BH&G brand) because they felt so rough. Are there any that you'd recommend? I like to change out my pillowcases-mid week and my current back-up cases are getting little holes in them after 10 years

I've found a few on Amazon but it is hit and miss ... some are plain and some are patterned ... good luck! I'm a bedding freak!

Try bamboo pillow cases - they are smooth and silky, and three times as absorbent as cotton. And obviously a completely natural product. I would never use anything else now that I have seen the light!

Why don't you want to replace them with more pillowcases from Pottery Barn? I bought a set there a few months ago and have been very happy with them. I also got a set from Boll & Branch and love those as well.

I love my Lands End sheets. You can buy pillow cases separately. They are not cheap, but I think they are worth it.

The nicest 100% cotton sheets we’ve had came from IKEA and they lasted a really long time, probably close to 15 years. The sheets bit the dust but I still have the pillowcases.
Lately I’ve been buying the super cheap microfiber sheet sets Costco sells when they go on sale for under $20. I like that they come with four pillowcases instead of just two. Some of the cotton sheet sets I have get really hot to sleep in so I was open to alternatives.

I try to look for the Ralph Lauren brand at TJMaxx, Homegoods etc, though it has been a while since I found any. They have been my favorite reasonably priced sheets. I have a set that bit the dust that I plan to turn into extra pillowcases.

In addition to all the above suggestions, have you tried higher thread counts? Percale is pretty basic. A 300-400 thread count cotton will be finer, smoother, and softer than percale, but still retain its sturdiness. Super high TC sheets/pillowcases sometimes fall apart faster. I did buy a percale set last year because it was cute, but it felt a bit rough to me and I ended up consigning it to the guest bed. DD can sleep on it when she visits. She’s not a princess like me. Also, I use cotton flannel sheets from L.L.Bean in the winter, and they are lovely and soft. My sister says the Martha Stewart flannel sold at Macy’s (if that’s still a thing) is also really nice.

I really like Target threshold bran the 400 count or Opal house from Target. I’ve tried other brands since I started using those and don’t like them.

Go to TJMaxx and feel them. I like a 300+ count cotton sateen weave. Just picked up some Calvin Klein ones, I'm not particular about brand but I am particular about texture.

Actually, I have not had to purchase pillowcases EVER - for some reason we have had always way too many. But if I had to get more, like maybe all the pillowcases suddenly disappeared, I would go to the thrift store and get used ones so I could feel their texture and get the ones I like. I prefer the cotton ones that remind of the ones I ironed as a preteen more than half a centruy ago. In those days, pillowcases were starched and ironed and it was my job to iron them.
