When you have an empty roll, cut it into several lengths then cut them lengthwise. Then you can use the open part to slip over a half-used roll to keep it tidy. Clear as mud? See photo.

I’ve tried that and it really doesn’t hold very well, especially if the tube is thin like a paper towel or toilet paper tube. I have the best luck with a regular old rubber band. Slap bracelets work great too but not many people have a bunch of those laying around.

I always just use the original plastic wrap from the roll to tie around it. Easy peasy.

Slap bracelets work great too but not many people have a bunch of those laying around. I always use sturdy tubes and have never had a problem. I used to use rubber bands but found that they made a crease in the paper. But whatever works for you is good!

Maybe when ds is living in a group home I can do this. For now they remain light sabers lol Or huge drum sticks.

I have slap bracelets! I use them for my vinyl rolls, and wrapping paper. They're so handy that even my husband asks for them every now and then for things in the garage. Cheap and they work!

I can't see the photos. We have those plastic wrapping paper buckets that slide underneath the bed. I'm picturing your method, cadoodlebug and it sounds really good.

I cut a slip of leftover wrapping into a ribbon shape and wrap it around the roll and tape it to itself (tape not touching the roll). I will try your method.

I have tied a ribbon on either end and just reuse them as needed. I am also trying very hard to use up the Christmas paper I have because there is no need to be storing paper for a whole year.

I have used rubber bands on mine since rolled wrapping paper became a thing. I never ran into any issues with creasing, though. I do try not to use bands that will be extremely tight fitting.

The wrapping paper they sell now is too long for my Rubbermaid under bed wrapping paper storage boxes, so storing them is much harder.
I use a leftover scrap of wrapping paper to secure my rolls. There are always a ton of 3 to 4 inch wide strips that are too small to actually wrap a gift, but are saved until all gifts are wrapped.
I just wrap the strip around the tube a time or two and then tape it down tightly. I use a different pattern than the rill so it is easy to see.
I have tried rubber bands and hair ties, but the edge of the paper always tears where they meet.

The wrapping paper they sell now is too long for my Rubbermaid under bed wrapping paper storage boxes, so storing them is much harder. Last year I sent DH to buy paper and he brought home 3 rolls that were all too long for my special wrapping paper holder, so they had to just get placed across the top of our Christmas bins in the attic. I've ben trying to use up as much of them as I can to get rid of them, but man alive there's a lot of paper on those rolls! When I shop for paper I'm more aware of what size will fit and what size will not, so this year I took the buying of paper back over again.

I slip the roll back inside the clear tube of plastic wrapping it comes in. If you open it on an end, and slide the plastic off, it'll go back in..
