Artbabe, I have seen two different obituaries worded differently for the same person in the newspaper. It has been our experience that you get a better rate with the obituary by going through the funeral home than by contacting the newspaper directly. Someone above mentioned the longer obituary. In the newspaper it might say survived by siblings. In the online funeral home obituary it might list their names. Oh, she did it on purpose. She was pissed at them. She never talked to them again. They weren't listed in her obituary, either, because her husband continued on with the hate. It was all over how to care for my grandma when she was dying. The four brothers thought one way. She was mad about it. She was also bipolar (it runs in my family, yay), so she wasn't exactly thinking clearly. ladyinpink1969, I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I would list the siblings and leave it at that. I wish you peace and comfort while you grieve her loss!

I'm very sorry to hear about your mom's passing.
My sons half brother (from their dad) passed away last March. He was 16 and while the boys haven't seen him in years, there was no acknowledgement of them in his obituary. Same when ex's parents passed - the boys were not listed at all. Neither one reads obits so they didn't see it but I felt bad seeing them left out.

So sorry for your loss. I agreement with others re: the genealogy piece.
