I gently hinted that DH could probably let his Peloton membership go since he's ridden about twice over the last year.
His response was to enroll in some 250 day challenge that his boss wanted someone to do with him.
So, I guess that's good? I don't care as long as it's actually getting used. Which reminds me I either need to go to the gym or get rid of that cost.
In the past 6 months we got rid of Sirius, Hulu Live, a couple channels I had through Prime, the NY Times, Ipsy, two other makeup subs I didn't even want as subs in the first place, an extra phone line no one even remembered (to a long defunct tablet), Instacart, and we eat at home pretty much every single night.
I will NOT be getting rid of Prime, Netflix, local newspaper digital edition, or Spotify.

Zee, we send out around thirty Christmas cards a year. We also sell seeds from our garden through the internet and people pay for mailing them.

I need to get serious about canceling subscriptions. Ugh. I know I can easily drop a bunch but it's such a PIA to get it done.
Well...in about 10 minuets I got Kindle Unlimited, Amazon Music and a tv channel sub thru Amazon canceled. So that's $30/mo I am saving. I might regret losing Amazon music, but probably not.

Visited the mall yesterday. Including the bookstore, where I bought nothing. Only purchased a few soaps, a laundry cleaner, and some honey at TJMaxx.
Came home to a food/drink order place earlier this week. The pizza crust mix (Gluten free), because I can’t find it local, ended up being GF Oat bran. Amazon, after a bunch of hassle trying to talk to a person, is refunding the cost of the pizza mix. They acted like they were doing me a huge favor “this time.” Really, it is their mistake. So, I refuse to reorder.
Also, the cats needed food and the Beast needed meds. So, I picked those up from the vet yesterday.
Only necessary spending. Jay likes the honey. I swear that boy should buzz for the amount of honey he consumes.
Oh, we came home to eat dinner, too!
I do refuse to get rid of Spotify and Netflix, though.

Yeah, when I got to looking, I can get everything I want with the free version. And really, I don't listen to it often and could easily find free alternatives when I do want to listen. Apparently I signed up for it when I upgraded my Alexa device but I dont definitely do not need it.

I use I heart radio sometimes but when we renewed our Sirius xm and got a discount found out we could stream in the app as well so I have used that at home but rarely listen to music at home.

Here in Canada, we buy a roll of around one hundred Canadian stamps at a discount What are you mailing that you would need 100 stamps for? Just curious! U haven't used a stamp since I quit doing Post Crossing over 2 years ago. Unless I start doing that again, 100 stamps would last beyond my lifetime. I bought 100 at Costco (save a whole 25 cents). I use them on Christmas cards - sent out 37 this year. We also have a few bills we have to mail a check for or we have to pay “convenience fees”

I need to cancel my switch online ($35 for the year) before it renews in February.
I don’t have prime.
We have comcast internet and dish network. Those are non negotiable but my dish went up $30/mo so I need to call and bitch at them.
I will no be giving up my XM. I use it in my car, in my classroom, on my phone, at home.

Well dang. Thank you. You just saved me $5.99 a month for Amazon music cancellation that I had on a device I don't even use- not sure how I managed that! Also, my guy watches Britbox and I pay (paid) $8.99 a month. I hit the cancel button, because he's not actively binging a show- and it offered it to me for $4.something a month for 3 months, and then $8.99 after that. NOPE. We'll see how long it takes him to realize it's gone. Hahahah.

Amazing! Do you remember what you cut? Several of the cuts were related to DH's job - computer program subscriptions and a professional membership. He retired in December and he doesn't need them any longer. Another was an annual subscription to a ride share program. It has been $99/yr and was going up to $119 this year. Cancelled his Sirius at $31/month and was able to get the cost of my Sirius dropped by 2/3! The rest were various apps on his iPhone that he isn't using. The big win for me (because I've been trying to get rid of this for a few years!) is dropping his Evernote subscription. They were raising that to $105/yr and all he used it for was a holding place for old documents. We have a large cloud storage that can handle that. And the documents? Papers and logs for a plane that he sold 8 years ago! He hasn't needed them in 8 years and won't need them in the future! I've copied everything to my computer and stored in the cloud.

Ok I broke my no spend January challenge and bought a book. It's the Zero Waste Produce Guide by Amy Cross of The Cross Legacy. She has a website along with active YouTube and Instagram channels. We waste so much produce over the course of the year by it going bad before we get around to eating it. She has easy suggestions on how to make every fruit and vegetable last longer. So I spent money to hopefully save money in the long run.

Almost halfway through January and I haven't spent on anything too frivolous.
Did a big monthly grocery shop, and stuck to my budget.
I've been cooking meals from the pantry & freezer. BBQ shredded chicken, chicken pot pie, quiche, ham & vegetable soup. I'll probably make a chili soon.
Stocked up on toiletries and household cleaning stuff (detergent, dawn, etc) but cut the oop cost by using a giftcard to soften the blow. Shouldn't need more of that stuff for 3 months, or so.
I am looking forward to the gardening season this spring and summer. I have seeds for some things like cukes & zucchini. I'll buy tomatoes & hot pepper plants when it's time. My goal is to keep costs low, while harvesting an abundance of fresh produce. Last year went relatively well, and we ate like kings, on tomatoes and jalapenos, at least.

I made the annual call to threaten to cancel my Sirius subscription. It was set to jump to $24.60/month next week. I negotiated it down to $8.53/month- not as good as the $7.77/month for this past year, but far better than almost $25/month. I hate having to do this every year.
I need to see when I have to do the same thing with my NYTimes sub. I usually can get everything (news, games, cooking) for $1.25/week.

Cancelled his Sirius at $31/month and was able to get the cost of my Sirius dropped by 2/3! My XM is $72/year! It doesn’t include traffic and all that extra stuff.

When I mentioned dropping Prime, my husband & both daughters simultaneously cried out “but I’m watching_________”! So we’re keeping that for now.
Banking-wise, saw a balance on my husband’s card when it should have been $0. Found a recurring charge of $30 that he thought he canceled two years ago. So he’s taking care of that.
Overall I think we’re doing okay with spending. Keeping this thread in the back of my mind is definitely helpful. 💕

We are eating out of the pantry and just filling in things like cereal, milk, etc. Target order was done for tp, alum foil etc. Other than that I haven't spent any money and I am stoked. Like you, I am looking forward to spring and gardening.

Purchased 2 books using credits from Amazon and a punch using a GC. Also purchased some journal items from Etsy using Christmas money.
The only food item that as questionable was the tea. It’s the only tea I drink and only available at Christmas time. So, I purchased 5 months worth this evening.
The rest was necessities like vet visit, pet meds and food.

I bought a book on Amazon Kindle with credits and had to spend .69.
I also bought 1 scrapbook items.
And some new meal prep containers but those were needed for my meals and keeping healthy.
Other than that we have done well. Had a crunch of $250 with meds for one of our dogs but that came out of savings.

I haven't managed a complete no spend, but I am very aware of how much I have spent this month. I've created a wish list instead of just buying.

The only "splurge" was $3 for my photos for Project Life. Otherwise, it's just been the grocery store. I am glad I had pre-ordered "Onyx Storm" since it's out on Tuesday and no way would I have it from the library for release day.

I need a do-over. I bought a few frivolous things at the store and on amazon. I’m normally not a frivolous shopper so this was out of the norm for me anyways. Reading through the thread, I’m now convinced I need to call and try to get my xm lowered or cancel it. DH recently canceled his Amazon music unlimited and I was disappointed because I had been listening to it a lot. Looking at it though, it’s a way better deal than the xm since we can both use it. We looked at the few other subscriptions we have but we truly use them. Just wish we could cut down the cost of our internet but there really isn’t a cheaper option around here.
Spent more than usual on groceries too but hoping to save in the long run. We’re determined to start eating healthier and at home more. My frivolous purchase mentioned earlier was a griddle pan, egg separator and egg molds so I can make my own egg white breakfast sandwiches instead of heading to the bagel shop a few times a week. Also bought stuff to make “hot” lunches I can freeze to keep away from the fast food.
Back on the bandwagon this week though. Only what’s necessary/planned purchases.

So far I'm failing miserably! I bought several types of air-dry clay, new acrylic paint, glue, varnish, and ribbon to get moving on some of the projects I want to get completed.
Then I went to the Goodwill yesterday and found a MAJESTIC bicentennial eagle latch-hook piece mounted on a board and, well, I couldn't just let that stay there, now could I? I absolutely love vintage bicentennial eagle Americana crap. Normally I wouldn't bring something this large home, but since my basement still has all sorts of wall space available, in the truck it went. Along with a brass wall hanging of some fish, which will be perfect in the bathroom.
Ok, it's still technically low-buy, but we're not done with my dog's treatments yet so I should be spending nothing. It's hard to ignore the thrill of the hunt though.

DH and I have spent some money to complete a couple home projects this month. These have been planned though. It's DH's slow time with work and we are Do It Yourselfers so we take advantage of having time when we do.
So far though I've spent nothing on clothes, makeup, home decor, etc. so I consider that a big win!
