Good morning.
Today is a quiet day. I have to pick up groceries and then it's home to tidy up and do some voice practice.
Dinner is rechauffe chicken piccata, rice pilaf and I'll make af garlic green beans. What's on your menu?
This week we have some projects at mil's house. Apart from that, we don't have anything planned. I am knitting for the first time since mid October.
What are you doing today?
What's on your agenda this week?
I'm thinking joyful, contented thoughts for this week!

Happy Monday!
Seems like an extra-Mondayish day after the holidays. I saw a meme that said January was like one big Monday and I believe it!
It's very cold here today with a feels like temp of 7 degrees. My dog didn't seem too fazed by it but I'm staying in as much as I can.
Dinner tonight will be leftover kielbasa soup from last night. I'll take some to my parents as well and pick up some prescriptions for them.
Hope you all have a great day!

I'm going to AquaFit this morning. It will be cold but I need to do it! Other than that, I'm going to work on Christmas ~ I promise! Dinner will be some of the leftover Honeybaked Ham (from the freezer) and the usual sides. I am one tough cookie, slept on these for years:

Thinking of my mom today who passed away 10 years ago on this day I miss her so much. She would love all the snow we received. We are hunkered down and hopefully won't lose power. I am fixing chicken tortellini for dinner.

Happy Monday! Winter has arrived! It's currently just hit 32 degrees with a wind chill of 19. Managed to get the raised beds and the olive tree covered in frost cloth before the temps dipped so hoping for the best with them. Also went ahead and harvested all the arugula and chard before I covered them. My plans today are to stay inside as much as possibly and do some work on a quilting project. Will probably need to go out later today and top up the bird feeders. There has been quite the crowd out there today! I may go visit DH this afternoon, but that depends on if my vertigo improves of not. He is going to call me later this morning and we'll discuss it. Dinner is going to be spaghetti. The sauce is from the freezer and I'll make a pot of capellini. He is doing well. We are thinking he's going to be coming home later this week or early next week. Will definitely have to have help, but at this point it's for the best. Mentally it will be a boost for him and we will be able to bring in additional PT to work with him. Also, it seems that they cannot change his MG medicines while he is inpatient (more stupid insurance rules) so that is a big plus to coming home. If we can get that tweak made, it should help with his muscle strength and getting him mobile again. So prayers that this move will be a good one and goes without too many problems.

Thinking of you today, hutchfan, and wishing you happy memories of your mom. I said last night I wouldn’t be here today, but here I am. Avoiding getting moving, I guess. 😊 Dinner will be with friends at a Cuban restaurant. So good and it’s half-price mojito night. ETA hope your vertigo gets under control **GypsyGirl** and DH comes home soon. You deserve a break!

hutchfan big hugs to you. cadoodlebug, I didn't have to sleep on them too much but a few times. I hated them! Tearisci my DD made a bean kielbasa soup when she was here and it was so good. I am trying to remember if it had potatoes in it. They would have been a nice addition if it didn't. Stay warm! scrapmaven good to hear you are knitting again. I have a huge crochet project that I have started over and over and finally just put it away. One day when I am less stressed. It is so cold today. We are at 28 degress with a feels like of 16. But I am a happy camper. I love cold. I finally get to wear all the warm things I love. Tonight I am making crispy potatoes with a lentil gravy. I had been thinking that would be it as DH would most likely eat that. Then with it being so cold, I thought chili for him. I have some ground beef that needs to be cooked. I bought it with the purpose of splitting it and freezing it. Since we have hamburger buns, I may just tell DH I'll make him a burger and he can eat some of the crispy potatoes so it's not like a full blown 2 meal thing being cooked. As far as the cold is my catahoula husky should be loving it but he is too adjusted to the comfort of a soft bed and a heater to really venture out in it. My other pup is just energized by the cold weather. She doesn't have a coat that allows it though so I don't let her stay out too long. She would be happy left out longer. AND she won't wear a coat happily. So there's that. lucyg Cuban food, I am so jealous. DH grew up in Tampa and when we lived there after getting married, I discovered the loveliness of cuban food. I can do most of it but an authentic Cuban sandwich is out of my reach. Unless I grab cuban bread and stick it in the freezer. I was finally able to find a good roast pork recipe that gets us that flavor.

Happy Monday! The big snow event missed us. Just 20 miles South of me they received 6 inches. I'm not complaining that we didn't get any snow... Hugs to you hutchfan. **GypsyGirl** I will be praying that your DH get to come home and it is a smooth transition. It is definitely a Monday. It has not been a smooth morning. I am meeting DH for dinner out. Where is yet to be determined.

Happy Monday dinner friends! It's chilly here today, I hate to say cold, since 35 is very mild compared to many others. stormsts- do I remember correctly that you are in Indy? My friends and family in SE Indiana just said they have 11-13 inches of snow, I'm a tiny bit jealous, but only if I have no where I need to go. hutchfan sending peaceful vibes for your day. Christmas marked 30 years of my mom's passing, I still think of her often. @gyspsygirl Continuing to send good vibes for your and your DH. I hope things can settle into a routine for your soon. scrapmaven enjoy your knitting I'm happy to announce the upstairs project is mostly finished. I'm sure everyone is tired of hearing of this ongoing saga. :-) Dinner is chicken taco soup that was in the freezer. Have a great Monday everyone!!

We aren't going anywhere anytime soon. We got somewhere between 10 and 12 inches of snow on top of a sheet of ice/sleet, and it's pretty nasty out still. After work, I get to help dig out the driveway. I am just so thankful we didn't lose power.
Back to work for me today, and DH isn't happy because he was hoping for a snow day, but his office approved work from home for all due to the inclement weather. Now he's working in his recliner, pouting about it the whole time. Poor baby. It's days like today that I'm very happy to be a remote worker.
As for food, I think we are having ham and either roasted or fried potatoes. Keeping it simple since we did bigger meals over the cold, snowy weekend, like beef roast.

naby64: Walker is a German Shepherd/Bernese Mountain Dog mix and he absolutely loves this cold weather. He has a double coat and is like a little kid in the snow. When he’s worn out from playing, he will curl up on a lounge chair that we’ve left on the deck for him. If he comes in the house and the fireplace is in, he turns around and goes back outside. Since I’ve lost weight, I’m usually cold so I love the fireplace on, but Walker is not a fan. I’m getting the grandboys off the bus this afternoon. Too bad I can’t do that from the warmth of my livingroom. I don’t want to get into politics on this thread but I just gotta say that DH is doing the happy dance due to the event that happened with our Federal Government today. Enough said … Supper is pulled pork and perogies for me and Hamburger Helper for DH. jeremysgirl: Hope you had a great day at your new job!

Big hugs to you hutchfan . It has been 30 years since my mom passed and I miss her everyday. **GypsyGirl** , praying for an easy transition back to home for your DH. I remember when ice storms would pass through Baton Rouge and everything would grind to a halt! Houston basically has the same weather as BR. AquaFit was great but man, when I took my water shoes off, the cement felt like standing on a block of ice. There is a new breakfast/lunch place that opened up last month and we went with DS last week. We've decided to go there for brunch. This could become a weekly habit. So good!

DS33 and DD24 sent snow photos last night and this morning - we missed it by just a few days (we left on the 2nd) - a bit disappointing but I'm glad it didn't snow while we were travelling. Mid 60s here after an overnight freeze and a freeze warning for tonight as well. It was grey, dreary, and windy when I went for my morning walk and we had some rain mid day but the skies look clear and blue now. DD18 is cooking tonight - porkchops with a dijon mustard sauce, scalloped potatoes, and broccoli.

Hugs to you, hutchfan. Wishing you a super smooth transition as you look at bringing your DH home and that all the support you need is in place, **GypsyGirl**. I'm avoiding a grocery run but have a very bare fridge. Except the chicken, there is plenty of thighs and legs from yesterday. But only a sad looking bit of celery and a decent head of Romaine in the veggie bin. It's supposed to be meatless Monday around here but I'm scared to drive my car to get anything. DH plugged it yesterday and it should hold. I'm going to have to drive it to Costco tomorrow for the new tires, but I just have this sense I'm inviting a blow out if I drive it today. More paperwork and some laundry is keeping me busy while I think about my options.

Hugs to you hutchfan💝 Gypsygirl...Hope things work together for your DH to come home...This has been a long haul for you (((HUGS)))
My night shift last night was uneventful, just a couple of added cases for today to pick for, the OR staff pick extras like golves, sutures, saw blades...little things. Busy work for me, as I like to have things to do. . I took my nap and have been up for a couple of hours. It continues to be cold here with no sign of reprieve.
I made my crock pot chicken veggie soup yesterday so just need to warm it in the crock pot and add the spinach, easy for me! I cannot face the cold to walk today so I will get on the spin bike for a bit....

We had a lovely day at the museum yesterday with Sophia. I love seeing how much she is growing and learning. Yesterday, after we saw the special exhibition we went for, she said we should go to the Aboriginal history section, which she had previously not wanted to visit. She was taken there by her aunt recently and enjoyed it, so in we went. Once there, she explained the story of Bunjil, the eagle/creator of the local First Nations group, as well as telling us about a lot of the ceremonial make up and dress and how they were made. We also saw the dinosaurs, insects and Melbourne history sections, as we do every visit. After returning her to her parents, we stayed for dinner - Charcoal chicken with chips, salad, hummus and flat bread from a local store. We had a little sadness when we left - Lucia was very much ‘goodbye, now go!’ because neither of them like saying goodbye.
We are now all packed up and having our breakfast coffee. Our check out time is in two hours, then we’ll drive to a local shopping mall for lunch then visit my dad for afternoon tea before picking up DS2 and heading to the airport. His flight is at 8pm and ours at 10pm, so it works out well. We did just get a message from our landlord back home that there’s a problem with the heating and hot water in the apartment building. Someone is coming in Tuesday morning to fix it - we’ll be home at lunchtime Wednesday, so hopefully all will be well by then. No hot shower after 30 hours in transit would be awful, as would no heating with the temperature hovering just above 0C.

Happy Monday! Winter has arrived! It's currently just hit 32 degrees It's going to get to 32 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, I can't wait! Off to the pool for me.... Oh wait, you mean Fahrenheit. That's good news about your husband being able to come home soon. Hugs to you hutchfan . I hope you are able to find some joy today with some happy memories of your mum. xx sueg I love hearing about Sophia's interest in and knowledge about those things. She really is growing up! Have a safe trip back, and I hope you return to a nice warm shower. We had dinner at the in-laws' house. FIL cooked steak, lamb chops, and chicken on the BBQ, and we had chips and a salad with it.

I hope the physical therapists will come to your home to make it easier on both of you. jeremysgirl---Hoping you love your new job! We *might* get snow Thursday...yippee! I love the beauty of everything covered in snow, and it seems like it gets very quiet and peaceful outside when it snows (or maybe it's just my imagination ? ) I used to bundle up and sit outside to enjoy the snow; maybe I'll do that this time. We haven't had a good snow in a few years. Dinner tonight...hmm....maybe shepherd's pie and broccoli ?

We got the predicted snowfall surprisingly because I’m on the northern edge of the storm. Luckily we brought our snow blower back from the lake. The majority of our hoa voted to end snow removal this year so we have to do our own. As predicted the no voters wanted to know when their driveway would be cleared. We had rechauffe chili & salad. **GypsyGirl** I hope your Dh comes home soon. Being home will hopefully increase his strength. hutchfan no one fills the void our moms leave. Big hugs naby64 my kids went to school with Cuban families and they made the best food.
