We are half way through January and I thought it might be fun to chat about some of the stories we are documenting or are planning to document.
I have felt very cluttered in my brain and unfocused. My pages have been a lot about my goals for January and my projects around the house. I feel like writing them down has helped clear some of the clutter I have in my head. I did one about my personal goals and then another page just about my home plans.
I documented the planners I am using for this year.
I’m also working on taking a photo of myself and doing a currently mini album.
We had 2 date nights which is unheard of since our last night out was almost a year ago. lol. One was to go see cocktails and Poe so I’m going to pull out some Halloween kits to document it.
And I am forever working on December daily. I did none in December. Currently telling stories about making gingerbread houses and decorating the tree.

January is always a struggle for me. I don't take as many photos, don't go out as much, and it's usually dark and miserable here. I'm usually busy finishing up DD/JYC, or starting it (or deciding not to, this year) and ramping up for Cards for Cubs. I don't make goal setting or resolution pages or OLW type things any more. I have almost finished my 2024 year photo book which helps me remember to capture a few small stories for this year's book. I just took some photos of my latest crochet projects with bonus SUN shining

I haven't been taking a lot of photos this month but so far I need to document learning to crochet, and my new job. I might sneak my phone out when no one is looking at take a picture of my work station... DD is getting braces on her top teeth at the end of the month, that's another page I need to make.

For DD it will be taking her first class on her college campus. This is huge as she has Autism, anxiety, and PIDD. She is excited.
Also her birthday this weekend. We are going to a new indoor glow bowling and glow mini golf center.
We also went to Jurassic Quest in Anaheim as a pre birthday treat.
We are postponing LA NHM until next month due to the fires. Her gift is a membership.
For ds it's riding the local train. He started back to school but not much is going on. I will make a layout about glow bowling and mini golf of course.

January is always a struggle for me. I don't take as many photos, don't go out as much, and it's usually dark and miserable here. Yeah, this!! Work is taking centre stage for me presently due to a lot of changes and general busy-ness. We're enjoying some nice family stuff too (puzzles, lego, games, just being together) but I use that to recharge myself and don't use extra energy trying to document/photograph it - I simply work hard to enjoy it and be grateful for it! It has been pretty cold with some snow too, so taking photos while I'm out walking feeling punitive (who wants to remove a glove!). I know in the future i'll wonder what the heck we did this month...but sanity first. I'm currently finishing my 2018 December album, and then I'll return to my sunny Florida album. There are so many plans in my head about the house, travel, documentation/scrapbooking that it's overwhelming - best to focus on 1 thing at a time in each category!

So far I've documented my kids' cats and their antics, two snowstorms at their house and late arriving presents.
Currently I'm working on January 1st - which seems to have quite a few stories.
Next up is our trip back to Florida with the cats and some late arriving presents at our house plus some of our kitties and their antics, and a mini-hike dh and I did last weekend
Looking forward - DH's birthday is this wednesday, we're possibly having a winter storm, DD18 has a district meet, DD18 went backpacking this weekend

I also don't take a lot of photos in January, usually because I'm suffering from some degree of burn out from photo taking/documenting in Dec. The new year is also when I'm much more motivated to get stuff done (at least when the weather permits) so planning for Jan in my album usually takes a back seat.
We celebrated my SILs birthday on the first weekend in Jan so I know I'll have something about that, and we're on the tail end of renovating both bathrooms, so there'll definitely be a layout or two to document that. I've got little bits in my album from last year, but anticipate I'll do a before, during, and after type layout in this year's album.
I typically do some sort of goals page, and I have set some goals for this year, so they'll make it into the album as well.
All of that said, I'm still happily working on last year's album, and don't know yet when I'll start telling 2025 stories. I keep a word doc with notes as I go through the month, so I've got some stuff there I can come back to when I'm ready.

I just received my December photos, so I'll start working on those. I'll document cookie baking with my teen grandson, plus typical Christmas photos.
My funny story to scrapbook are 2 photos I took of piles of packages delivered to my house. My DD had all hers shipped here, as she had to be out of town most of December. It was a lot, as we both did most of our Christmas shopping online.
I also have an earlier photo from her Ring camera of both Amazon and UPS delivering to her home at the same time. She asked me if that meant she has a problem!

It’s my birthday month and I had a party. Also we have tickets to the touring broadway shows and saw Beetlejuice. Next week we are going to see our friends’ daughters highland dance at Robbie Burns Night. It’s been a pretty busy month for me with quite a few photos.

January is my favourite month for photos, because we spend a lot of time at the beach / river / pool, so lot of my layouts will be about that. I am also documenting my decluttering project, and my plan to cook a new recipe every week. I've taken 647 photos so far this year.

I usually use January to finish scrapping the November/December excitement and put my holiday crafting supplies away. I don't tend to take many photos this month, except for my dh's birthday which is next week. Took a few pic's at the hockey tourney I attended this past weekend, and have received some pic's from ddil's and others, but all hockey related. I usually scrap those all at once at the end of the season (March/April)

It’s interesting that so many people slow down in January and catch up to December. I do the opposite. I usually just drop December or whatever is left from the year before. Then I go full into January with too many big bright ideas.
I should maybe dial it back a bit. Although I do like how January brings more everyday stories for me versus December that felt very event based.

I figure these subjects are going to dominate what I do for a long time to come. I still cannot believe my daughter, who is an identical twin herself, had TRIPLETS. Untitled by Seanna., on Flickr They are two girls (identical twins) and a boy. Triplets. This happened.

So far my January PL spreads have covered: - around here stories: what I’m drinking (coffeeeee and iced green tea)
- tree pics during my outdoor walks. I’m going to try to take a shot if my tree lined street every month to document how the foliage changes throughout the year
- California fires
- different views of areas around the house
- back to school night, new class schedules for spring semester, graduation prep (ordered cap & gown for my daughter this week!)
- MLK quote, getting Taylor Swift’s Lover Live from Paris vinyls 💗, my reading pile (3 ½ books so far this month)
- have a whirlwind day and a half trip to Disneyland this weekend

January and February are my least favorite months of the year but I told myself I was going to work on my photography and try to take at least one photo every day. I have many more photos this year than I have in previous Januarys but they are mostly indoorsy ones as my body does not like the cold & I (luckily) work from home. This is helping with my goal to do Project Life and regular scrapping without duplicating photos. My first week of January, for example, is one pocket page, one large page-size photo, and 2 regular layouts where there is some overlap of one event but not using any of the photos twice.
I'll be out of town for a couple days this week and celebrating my birthday so that will be scrapped, too.
