Now let's talk about pets.
I noticed that when I got my last photos developed, I had about a half inch stack of photos of my cat. Now, my cat has expressions and does cute things, but he doesn't have that many expressions, so why do I feel the need to takes photos of him every day?
So I take a lot of pet photos. Not only Fred, but also my dad's dog, and my sister's dog and two cats. My Christmas photos are full of cats in trees, cats in boxes, cats with Christmas wrap, etc.
So I make a lot of animal layouts. A lot.
So how often do you take photos of your pets? How often do you scrap those photos? What scrapbook lines do you use or have used? What scrapbook products/styles/colors/icons do you want to see in scrapbook lines? What are you tired of seeing?
I'll try to post some scrapbook layouts here, too. Or maybe I just want to show off my cat.

Meet Fred. He is a disaster. I’m really bad at taking photos of my layouts- they are straight, my photos are wonky. 1st: Mostly Photoplay and NJFB 2nd: Mostly Shimelle (Hey, Flowers!) 3rd: Mostly 49 & Market

I too have tons of photos of pets. I have a dog, Arthur (the little guy in my profile picture). My parents also have a dog, and I have many layouts dedicated to her as well. I "started" a mini album just for Arthur, since after a while, scrapping random dog photos in 12x12 was getting repetitive. But I have only created a handful of pages in his mini-album. Of course, the dogs are also incorporated into my albums just by virtue of being in photos with other family members as well. I love your cat pages! The tiger emebllies in the first layout are cute. As for supplies, I have a few dog-specific supplies but not a lot. This layout is using a generic Park Lane 6x6 pad: Before and after Codi layout by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr A hobby lobby pet collection: Sketchy Saturday 10/16 by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr the 2 of them: Untitled by scrappy rabbit, on Flickr

I take tons of photos of Scouty (he's usually dressed up in clothes and really, he's the most handsome doggo). I dont scrapbook them, usually but but he does make it into my Project Life.

I got a dog in July after not having a dog for several years. I take a ton of photos, and post him a lot to social media and he makes his way into my project life as well as having his own album lol. Right now he is my favorite topic to scrap, although I am sure over time that will change.
He is a rescue and when I first got him we had a lot of struggles. As time goes on, he is really growing and changing all the time and more of his personality is coming out. He is becoming less fearful, so our adventures are much more fun.
I guess I am sorta sick of the cutsey lines or really bright primary colors in some of the lines. It's OK I don't really buy a lot of that anyway I am more of a simple scrapper so I just chose whatever colored cardstock matches what is going on.

My bestest sweet girl passed away about 15 months ago. When she was still with us I took photos of her daily. She was all black, and very shaggy, and it made her hard to photograph well. Also deaf, lol, so hard to get her attention to look a certain direction, etc. It required a lot of photos to get a couple to turn out okay.
She’d appear in my PL just as often as the kids. At least every other page she’d have a presence on.
We have another dog, (have had for 11 years), but she’s very skittish and just doesn’t like attention. And she’s always been inexplicably nervous around me in particular, so I just leave her be, and as a result I don’t take photos of her often, and she’s rarely in my album.

Good topic artbabe! We lost our tuxedo boy Jack in July, but he was so photogenic. Took daily photos of him with my orange girl Daisy. They loved to wrestle and, well, just be cute. I take so many of Daisy but she’s always on my lap, so in a lot of them, she’s curled up. And my dd sends me photos of her cats, too. They all are in a lot of my PL, and I also have an ongoing mini album called “We Love Cats”. (I know, super creative haha) I don’t use any cat-themed product but I do love your cat print stamp!

Per National Geographic: The leading theory, known as the "baby schema" effect, says a release of the chemicals dopamine and oxytocin is triggered in the brain when humans look at puppies. The same chemicals are released when we look at babies, and similar chemicals are released when we fall in love.
I am assuming cats work as well. If a picture gives you such good feelings and you are a scrapper, it only makes sense to scrap them.

We're childfree, so while I usually scrapbook the trips we've taken, I'm jumping into Project Life this year, and Bessie will absolutely make appearances throughout. DH took a picture of her staring him down the other day when she didn't get a treat when he poured himself a bowl of cereal that absolutely cracks me up, so that'll go in there. We've also had her for a decade this year, so that'll absolutely be a feature when that week rolls around. (And we're getting another nephew this summer, so I guess he and his older brother will show up at some point in this year's PL as well.)

I love taking photos of pets - these days they’re not even mine since our dogs died. My pages were usually very photo heavy.
I was going to say that pets don’t complain when you take photos of them like people might, but that’s not true. My pugs hated the camera and would refuse to look at it. My dad thinks animals can feel the focusing technology, the way they will often wake up or react when we point a camera at them.
In terms of products, I enjoy making pet themed cards with Doodlebug but find their “gendering” of animals infuriating. I got both the cat and dog lines they released last year hoping I could mix them, but it’s not easy. The cat supplies are soft pinks and peaches and the dog supplies are bright primaries as if cats are girls and dogs are boys. It makes even less sense than rigidly gendering children.

Guinea pigs aren't exactly photogenic (or at least mine aren't) and not really represented in the scrap industry. Mine are girls, so I use all the pink stuff on their layouts.

So how often do you take photos of your pets?
At least 1 a week. Sometimes more if the dogs are being super cute.
How often do you scrap those photos?
Gotcha day, Halloween, Christmas, when the kids do something with them, random photos to put in the kids books. Not very often.
What scrapbook lines do you use or have used?
Pet Shoppe and then just other lines that have dog embellishments included.
What scrapbook products/styles/colors/icons do you want to see in scrapbook lines?
More neutrals. Mixed breeds, shih tzus, car beds, crates, cones of shame, vet stuff (medical), stuff about rainbow bridge, kibble, meds, etc.
What are you tired of seeing?
Bright colors and too girly leaning. Also stereotypical dog stuff. Like super fab girl dogs getting pampered at the spa. Or boy dog playing with tennis ball. 🙄

I take pictures (plural) of my two dogs every day. Why? Because they are adorable. lol. I mostly take them to text to dds who don’t live with us. Some of the pictures (not all- I take a lot) end up in my project life as they are my family members and a big part of my day/life. I don’t buy scrapbook lines so that doesn’t apply- they get the same treatment as the rest of the PL week layout I am creating. Sometimes I look at pet lines but they typically don’t appeal to me because they are pictures of dogs. My dogs don’t look like those dogs so I don’t get it. I have purchased paper that says woof good dog or something like that in the past.

No current pets, although I still have a few stories/photos of our son's childhood (beta) fish left to document. I often purchase non-themed classic patterned papers (e.g. plaids, stripes, dots) from industry-standard dog themed collections to use on non-pet layouts, since they usually are the only source of my preferred (cool) color palettes.

I noticed that I didn't use pet paper on any of my 3 layouts. I did use tigers in that boy collection. When Fred was younger he absolutely ripped me up with his nails- so he was "Cute but Deadly" and "Savage". I also used a paw stamp on the Shimelle one. Besides that, no other direct cat references.
I think it is because most of the cat lines are very cutesy and (at least in the past) pink, and Fred is neither one of those. I really want a line with more realistic cats.

I got my Pet scrapbook out and found this two page layout. Can you tell how old it is by the supplies used? KI Memories paper, fabric labels, ribbon, and so much metal! I don’t know the exact date but Isabel died 15 years ago, so before that.

My favorite pet line ever- Basic Grey Max & Whiskers. Such beautiful colors. Look at the embellishments it came with- so different than the flat stuff we get now. They both lived until they were 15, dying in 2023. I miss them.

We have two dogs, and I take WAY too many photos of them. I usually scrap all family holiday photos with them, their birthdays, and very specific photos of them doing something different. Every once in a blue moon I’ll scrap one of them just smiling, or sleeping.
I do not like dog specific embellishments, especially dog images. The photos I’m scrapping are already dogs, and I don’t like duplicating images unless it’s a Christmas tree or birthday image.
I do like word phrases, or titles that are specific to dogs, though.

I scrap my cat frequently. The month we lost our previous cat and the month we adopted our current cat, it looks like we did nothing else during those months in my PL album.
I'm don't particularly care for most of the themed product that is available, it's usually too bright and cutesy for my cat's personalities. I know I've mentioned it before, but as a black cat owner I tend to find better cat themed products in halloween collections, and I have a set of paperchase puffy cat heads that includes a lot of black cats that I love.
One of my favourite papers was from an old SC collection. It featured a large black polka dot on a white background, but some of those polka dots were cat heads. It was really neutral so could be paired with anything and wasn't gender specific. I recently bought some tiny paw print paper from Alexandra Renke which I also really like. As for embellishments, I picked up a sticker sheet of phrases from SC years ago that were fabulous, they were copper foiled and so pretty.
I love the idea of a line including something about the rainbow bridge. I'd love to see colours and patterns that are more neutral and can go with pets of all colours and sizes and personalities. And I can do without the cliched icons like balls of wool or fire hydrants in embellishments.

Love the l/o-s; thanks for posting them. I haven't made any pet pages for quite awhile. My favorite cat has been gone for several years now and I decided not to get another pet at my age. I sure miss my little furry friend. I used to take weekly photos of our cats but I have to confess that I haven't scrapped many of them. But boy am I a sucker for cat sb lines! It's been fun looking at everyone's pretty pets.

I sometimes buy bits and pieces of pet lines. Then I never use them.
This is, of course, contrasted by the fact I take 20+ photos of my precious little furry bestie every day. Probably a low average lol
All joking (but serious!) aside, my son still lives at home, and my guy and I travel a ton. So I take a bazillion photos. Most photos of my son are with our dog.
So she is probably 50% of what I scrap inside my home.
But she’s so beautiful, smart and silly, I feel like it isn’t really same same lol And, although I love my guy to the moon and back, most of the me&you, lovey and soft pretty type supplies end up being used for my dog.
Events, dates, dinners and travel seem to be the way I scrap my guy and I.
It would be silly to put a tennis ball on a “layout” about her. Or a doghouse or a fire hydrant… but a breezy hearts and “how we met” is perfect for her.
We also used to do serious hiking, camping, road trips and past albums tend to feature that about our relationship. She also spent a lot of years helping to train specific types of service dogs, and doing hospital volunteer work. These are more appropriate scrapbooking lines for her.
She’s an amazing dog, and she is now aged to calm perfection, and most of her days are spent lounging on one of her dog beds looking after her family. She plays into every story in our household.
If my family were to spend serious time going through my scrapbooks, they would discover so much journaling hidden behind photos of her. For a lot of years (difficult teen years) my son and I only communicated (well) by using her as a conduit. In other words, “dog name/nickname” missed you. Where have you been? “Dog name” wants to know what’s for dinner? “Dog name” misses “friends name” where has he been, is he ok?
Or, these days, when I am in the home office, my girl is in one of two specific places nearby. When my son comes home, he will often curl up with her on the floor and that’s when we talk, or he will just talk with her.
It sounds weird writing it out like this (we are both pretty neurotypical lol) lol but a lot of times those conversations are the most meaningful. Like dashboard convos that are less guarded because the participants aren’t faced off and staring at one another. Feelings about those convos are journaled behind a bunch of photos of her looking adorbs.
Anyway, I don’t think there is a “pet line” that would be all that useful to me, no matter how hard they try lol
