Hi everyone! I didn't end up falling asleep for the first time until 3am so I see a nap in my future today. I got my hair trimmed and coloured yesterday ... it's longer than I usually have it but I like it! I keep it in a ponytail 99% of the time so that leaves less stray short parts to fall and need to be clipped up! My roots were literally 6 inches long! I went to Costco after my appointment and it was super windy so this photo is not showing my hairstyle in the condition it started out as ... but you get the idea. I need to go to the regular grocery store this morning and then do a load of laundry ... They are having a Robbie Burns Day dinner at my mum's retirement residence tonight so I might go to that ... or I might just make some pasta of some sort ... Are you home now scrapmaven? We are having a nice sunny day here today ... I think it is supposed to get up to 11 degrees C. What is the weather where you are? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

We are expecting a high of 34 today!!!! I'm so excited. I don't mind cold weather but the negative temps (F) really start to wear on me. I think you look so lovely with your hair down leannec. The color and style just compliments and softens your look so much. It's pretty in a very delicate way. I slept in until almost 9 am. And I was asleep by 10. I must have been tired. And then I just got off a two hour phone call with my friend. So I am really feeling like I've lost half my day. I'm just about to go hit the shower and get the laundry going. I will quilt because with the higher temps it is warm enough to work in my dining room. I also have a out 50 pages left in my book to finish. My wrist hurts so there will be no crochet. I'm not sure what is for dinner tonight. I have a bunch of purple carrot meals.

leannec , you look so pretty. I love your hairdo. I hope you get a refreshing nap today. Have you heard from the pilot? I don't mean to nag, but when you sound happy about something I want it to continue for your sake. We got home last night. Today I have to pack my carry on w/extras. My luggage didn't arrive on time. The luggage service gave me a complete refund and said my luggage will arrive on Monday. I will only miss one night and a complete refund wasn't necessary. They called me to let me know. That's great customer service. Now the question is how to fit extras of everything in my carry on in case the suitcase never arrives? Dh and ds are going to do takeout, so that I can pack and then rest. May everyone have an enjoyable and relaxing weekend.
jeremysgirl, we posted at the same time. I'm sorry to hear that you can't crochet, but happy to hear that you can quilt today. Enjoy it.

We are expecting our first winter storm. Snow levels will be down to 2000ft. While it is needed, a close eye is on burn areas because of the high risk of mudslides. Clouds are rolling in and it is to start around noon.
We are running errands in a bit (grocery shopping).
Tomorrow is football. Dh's team vs mine. Again. We are excited. Also rooting for Washington as their QB is from our school district that we both attended.
Will be finishing Valentine's Day cards today for the swap.
Oh and dd took the leap and has a class on site. She has worked really hard through her social and medical anxiety and is really enjoying being on campus. Just one class this semester to allow her to adjust so she doesn't over stress and cause medical issues. Then she will take 3 next semester all on site. She amazes me every day.

Personally pantsonfire having done my college years mid 90s and then my masters years mid 2010s I totally feel that on site classes are a better experience. I'm glad she's able to get that. Not saying my experience is everybody's preference but it's good to have options.

Personally pantsonfire having done my college years mid 90s and then my masters years mid 2010s I totally feel that on site classes are a better experience. I'm glad she's able to get that. Not saying my experience is everybody's preference but it's good to have options. With her almost done with pre reqs, she knows she would need to be on site for her science classes as they all have labs. So this is a good starting point. She has 3 math classes, 1 chem, and then a few geology classes to take and then can transfer. She has done very well with on line classes, only getting 1 D so she retook it. Her professor was horrible and I guess the entire class did bad. 😬 She was a part time and not full time staff. But for tests and quizzes it really helped being home. She did set up new accommodations with her SAS plan (her college "IEP") and can be driven around in a cart and have tests in the testing center. They also have pet therapy on campus now which she loved. And they have a natural preserve where she sat after class and watched a hawk fly around. But I am glad on line is an option for her. A family member was at a top Uni and many of the classes were on line. A lot of schools have moved that way.

Good evening all It has been a lovely day here, around 12C and sunny. I was even able to go out for my walk after lunch without my big coat! It’s been a normal, boring Saturday here - grocery shopping this morning, a walk after lunch and then me knitting while the football was on. Our team won and our nearest opponents didn’t, so it was a good day! leannec - love your new hair do. jeremysgirl - you obviously needed the sleep. Enjoy your quilting! Dinner tonight is going to be schnitzel with käsespätzle and probably spinach. DH has made the schnitzels already and everything just needs to be cooked.

Happy Saturday! We are having steak, sweet potatoes and green beans for dinner. If you could spare some prayers for my twin grandson's who have been sick the past couple of days and for my great great niece who is in the hospital with RSV I would appreciate it.

It’s -4 C here today and I’m waiting for the sun to come out and then will go for a walk. It’s a bit hazardous with slippery sidewalks but I really need to get out and walk.
DS and family are out of town at a hockey tournament so I’m dog sitting our grand dog. Thankfully they live close so I can do regular checks and let her out to potty. DS will be home tonight because he has to work tomorrow.
The ribs that I made yesterday were delicious - falling off the bone and tender. Ribs will now become part of our menu but only if they go on sale! There is enough leftover for supper tonight.

Ds and I are at dd’s house helping with some tasks. Her partner is away for a short time and she was feeling very overwhelmed.
I went for a haircut this morning and had bangs cut after growing them out for the past 5 years. I went shorter and got some long layers cut.
Dinner tonight will be beef stew with no knead bread that is doing its thing at home. I’m looking forward to the stew and fresh crusty bread.

Love the photo leannec ! Woke up to texts from DS that they arrived at the airport @5:30 and boarded at 6:30 and are now in flight. They arrive in Houston about 1PM I think. Hopefully everyone's luggage will arrive! DH and I just got back from a long walk. I should have worn gloves as the wind was biting! Yesterday we took a long drive and ended up in a town about 25 minutes east of us. I saw on NextDoor that someone saw a mountain lion attacking a dear ~ at a place we drove by yesterday. Dinner might be Jalapeno Chicken.

Well apparently the farmers market where I shop is having a macaroni and cheese festival in their beer garden today. So I guess that's where we are going. I hate that place on a Saturday. But I will go for Macaroni and Cheese Man. 😂

I think you look so lovely with your hair down leannec. The color and style just compliments and softens your look so much. It's pretty in a very delicate way. That is seriously the nicest compliment I have heard in a long long time ... thank you! leannec , you look so pretty. I love your hairdo. I hope you get a refreshing nap today. Have you heard from the pilot? I don't mean to nag, but when you sound happy about something I want it to continue for your sake. Thanks! I did take a short nap and feel better now! The pilot ghosted me ... probably because I didn't sleep with him on the first date ... no loss! That is great news! I wish her all the success! leannec I love your glasses! Are you growing out your color now? I started that 4 years ago and zero regrets. Thanks! My natural colour is a dark brown ... so this blonde is completely fake! Thank you so much! If you could spare some prayers for my twin grandson's who have been sick the past couple of days and for my great great niece who is in the hospital with RSV I would appreciate it. Positive thoughts coming your way! Dinner tonight will be beef stew with no knead bread that is doing its thing at home. I’m looking forward to the stew and fresh crusty bread. Mmmmmm, beef stew! My dd's love my stew ... maybe I will invite them over next weekend and make it! Enjoy your stew and bread! Thanks so much!

I am headed to a crafting class this afternoon (how to use my new BetterPress thingy, for those who still paper craft). There’s some vinga dosh in my fridge from the gentleman friend. That is probably spelled wrong, but it’s a Portuguese pork dish with lots of vinegar in it … delish. He found this recipe and has fond memories of the dish from his childhood, so he’s been running with it lately. Anyway, that’ll be dinner and I have some potatoes and veggies to eat with it. leannec, cute pic! Love your hairstyle and color. scrapmaven, safe travels to you. Hope that bag shows up promptly. pantsonfire, yay for your girlie! Baby steps, then big steps. hutchfan, sending get-well wishes for your grandsons and great-niece. KelleeM, I always vote for bangs!

We are shopping in our freezer and are having M&M pork bites for dinner. There will be salad and some sort of green vegetable I am sure.
I need to go to London Drugs today to get a mascara. I need something easier than what I have for when we go away. (In 2.5 weeks).

I was ping-ponging around the house, inside and out, up and down, getting some chores done and distracted by others, so finally sat down and wrote out a to-do list. It does make me happy to cross things off once done.
The guest room is finally usable again with all the gift wrapping supplies tucked away for another year and the stash of boxes collapsed and in the recycling bin. Patio furniture is stacked and prepped to be covered when DH gets home. Arrangements made to drop of 2 large bags of stamps/dies to a friend. My kitchen looks decent and now I avoid the paperwork stack I have no excuse for ignoring. I just don't want to deal with it.
Dinner is fish soup with sole, asparagus, zucchini, peas and a ton of herbs & spices.

In case you were concerned Dexter is doing much better. He has had numerous cuddles and kisses. There were sufficient belly rubs. provided. He really is my dog and I love him so much.
Today there are sports on tv all day long. I am not where the sports are being watched.
The kids said they were going to come over this weekend to take down our Christmas lights and return the ornaments they borrowed. They could keep them if they want to. They just have no storage and we have 2 huge rooms.

leannec that's a gorgeous photo of you! I really like your hair down. I also know how much easier it is to tie it up every day! hutchfan those poor babies! I hope they're all better very soon. pantsonfire yay for your daughter!! Good on her for stepping outside her comfort zone. Delta Dawn I'm glad to hear that Dexter is doing much better. DSO and I both felt like burgers on Saturday. We were going to go out for lunch, but then decided to have them for dinner at home. I made a batch of Turbocharged Sauce in my Thermomix, which I'd been wanting to make for a while. It had a pretty good kick to it! And was great on the burgers.

AussieMeg I've got to know what was in the sauce. Chipotle chilli in adobo sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mayo, caster sugar, vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, smoked paprika, salt. I really want to make a copycat version of Big Mac sauce next time.

Hello dinner tribe!! So my me weekend is going ok. Last night was veggie hibachi with my homemade yum yum sauce. Just before we got our food, DS asked me what would happen if I ate something non vegan. I told him I would explode. Got our soup and salad and OH NO! It hit me. The ginger dressing was mayo based. Oh well. The soup tasted beefy. My DD said just go with the flow and how proud she was of me. So I ate. My DS said he was happy I didn't explode since he didn't wear his rain poncho. Then we went to the bookstore. I grabbed 3 books. Home and time for Switch play.
Woke up this morning and made pancakes. AND we did NOT paint. Went to HobLob and bought some material and a canvas to do some wall art and some smell good floral things to makes sachets and "stuffs". Pad Thai for lunch.
For dinner, there is a beefless beef burgundy in the oven. We're about 10 minutes away from that. It smells heavenly. It was a bit labor intensive but that dish normally is. We will serve it over mashed potatoes. After that, we will kick back and watch The Wild Robot.
So yes, it has been a good day.
I'll check back later.

So many vegan recipes use it and I'm like all about it right now.

Checking in late tonight.
We had the other sous vide beef from Costco tonight and some shrimp for dinner.
We cancelled the showings we had scheduled for today. We realized that we weren't as excited about the houses as we thought we were, so I think we're going to put our house hunt on hold for now. The job DH is starting soon is not one he wants to be in forever, and we don't want to be in a situation in a few years where we're struggling to sell the house. So we'll reassess once we're living with my folks to figure out what we're going to do.
