I’m going to cry. STUPID STUPID STUPID
About 4-6 months ago we started a small bathroom remodel. New floor, toilet and now sink/cabinet. DS basically gutted the room except bathtub. Things got a little too complicated getting new stuff in. DH is on the road all the time so no help there. Finally we just hired a handyman to finish it. Looks great! Took him one day. I’ve been in and out of there several times just looking at it.
Today we went to the store to buy some finishing stuff like shower curtain and new mirror.
DD just got home from work and I show her what we bought today and I see a chip on the countertop!!!! WTF. I’m almost positive it wasn’t there when the handyman installed it. I have walked in there several times. DS isn’t home to ask if he dropped something on it. I’m just sick.
I swear sometimes nothing goes right… whoever’s fault it is, I’m not mad at … but now there isn’t anything I can do… this sucks….

We just got done remodeling both bathrooms after water damage. Last week I noticed a chip on the vanity top as well. I don’t remember seeing it before that but can’t figure out how it would have gotten there. There isn’t anything I can do about it now so just have to try to ignore it. But I notice it every time I go in there now.

Did you purchase the countertop on a credit card? Some cards give a ninety day insurance through the card against theft, loss and breakage, It was probably on our Home Depot card... but we have had it longer than 90 days.. it's been boxed up for at least four months probably longer.

Still, it did chip o you. Take a picture, go to the store and speak with the manager. Check their web site and return area to see if they have a satisfaction guarantee.

What is the material of the countertop? It may be able to be repaired.
Is the chip on an edge? It may be a manufacturing defect.
I'm so sorry you are dealing with this!

Depending on the material and the color it can probably be patched.

That stinks to be this close to having the room finished and then this happens, I'm sorry.

Did you by chance take any pictures when it was complete? If so, maybe you can go back and look and see if you see the chip in it. That would maybe indicate it was there when it was installed. That might help with Home Depot if you want a replacement.

UGH I’m sorry. It’s disappointing when something like that happens.
If it’s a chip, someone can fix it with epoxy. We had a dime sized chunk in our new counters, too. The guy who fixed it said it was definitely hit by something during installation, because it’s too thick/durable to happen with just every day wear and tear. The installers came out and fixed it with epoxy. He fixed it perfectly. You can no longer spot where it was.

I'm living with a corner chip from 2003. We didn't check it until it was too late to return. Very frustrating.

You're in Colorado, right? Try contacting Surface Experts (SurfaceExperts.com). I have friends who own a franchise in Denver and another one on Colorado Springs. I have seen their work, and they do excellent color matching and repairs.

Just found this: Home Depot General Merchandise Protection plans cover things like power tools, outdoor equipment, patio, grills and more. Most products come with a manufacturer's warranty that lasts 90 days to one year from the date of purchase and covers product defects, breakdowns, plus mechanical and electrical failures. Also Google:Home Depot return policy Maybe they will send someone out to fix it

Google the return policy. It is especially applicable if you put it on your Home Depot credit card

Lol. I want different color now. 😁 It's a great reminder to always look at any order even if it's just.going to sit for awhile.

I feel this! When we were doing our bathroom, SO kept slamming his drill down on the floor almost hitting the shower pan...and it finally did! There is a mark on the outside and I have a couple of gouges in the shower pan as well. I get to see those every time I am in the bathroom. They are small, but you can easily see them because they are black on the white shower base.
