She was completely off the meter high on her blood sugar. She wears a pump but didn't dose for over 12 hours. She's just not with it enough to use it right now so we took it off of her and the nurses are going to give her insulin shots. Very scary. Hoping she's okay now! I may be wrong, but when they first admitted your Mom to rehab, they should have noted that she has had confusion / memory loss (?) recently. They should have been SURE she was remembering to use her insulin pump. I hope they're checking her glucose before every meal, and before she goes to sleep. Again, I may be wrong, and maybe the staff was monitoring her closely, but it's terrible that her glucose was so high that it didn't register! |
