I can see why Shahin stuck with it, but Kyle knows he's not part of the core four. The core four is Joe, Eva, Shauhin and Kyle. Joe, Eva and Shauhin from their original tribe, with Kyle added because of his physical strength by Joe & Shauhin at the tribe shake up and David bonded with Eva at the shake up. David thought he was the leader of the pack because he had the most muscle, but clearly the paranoia put him on the outs. Joe and Shauhin were definitely more bonded with Kyle at this point. This is definitely a weird season of second guessing how the jury will feel, especially if it ends up with a bunch that feel betrayed because they are physical threats and have created a loyalty vibe to those deserving to make it to end over less physical, strategic game play. Even if just one of them makes it, the rest could easily be swayed to anoint the last one standing if they didn't betray anyone. Hope that makes sense. I think that is Kyle's struggle. If he got Joe out, but Eva and/or Shauhin makes it to the final tribal with him, I don't think he'd have the votes. I think his only guaranteed vote would be Kamilla. It is also interesting to me that he has said several times that his and Kamilla's goal if to get ONE of them to final three. He will vote her off before any of his core four. I think we will see Mitch go next, then Kamilla and the most important challenge will be for control over who has to make fire at final four. The only way I don't see Joe and Eva making it to final three is if they have to go head-to-head in fire making. David is truly a weirdo.

Wow. Reward challenge was won by Shauhin who took Joe and Kyle to the Sanctuary for great food, letters from home and pillows/blankets to spend the night.
Kyle and Kamilla came up with a plan to lie to Joe that Shauhin has an idol and is flipping to get Eva out. Joe struggled with the news and tried to talk to Shauhin in a round-about-way but Eva trusted Kyle.
Joe won immunity and the vote was 4-2 against Shauhin. I really felt bad for him. So Kyle/Kamilla will use that as a big plus if they make it to the final 3 to pitch to the jury. But how will Shauhin feel about the betrayal?
With the letters from home, it was a very emotional episode.

I fully expected the votes to be Shauhin & Eva for Mitch, and the others for Shauhin. I wasn't sure about Joe, if he'd flip or not. He did. I wonder if he'll find out or figure out that Kamilla & Kyle lied about everything? I'd love to be a fly on the way if/when he does!!

Why did Kamilla vote for Mitch?

Why did Kamilla vote for Mitch? That's what I was wondering too!!! I thought her & Kyle were tight so she agreed to vote for Shauhin!

Why did Kamilla vote for Mitch? Maybe for jury management ~ she can say she didn't vote for Shauhin? It made no sense to us. Joe and Eva should have realized that Kyle/Kamilla lied to them when Shauhin didn't play his idol. Next week is definitely going to be interesting. Or maybe not. They probably won't find out until Kyle or Kamilla make final 3 and say they masterminded Shauhin's demise. Considering the reward challenge was Shauhin's first win, he thought was in command of the game.

I think there are a few jurists who are "team Joe/Eva" and when they find out what K & K did, it's not going to bode well for them if they get to final 3 for jury votes.

I think I'm getting cynical. Not crazy about how the game is going and honestly, Shahin should have never took Joe on the reward. He probably would have gotten the immunity anyway but geez.
Plus, the letters from home didn't move me. Really you have been gone 3 weeks. Ugh. Kyle and Camilla should have teamed up with Mitch and Shahin to get out Eva I guess.

Shauhin has been full of himself throughout the game. Not surprised he got played. Too funny that mister ONE-WIN thought he was such a huge threat! On the other hand, I think he will be a much less bitter jury member than a couple of the others (lookin' at YOU David and Mary).

Why did Kamilla vote for Mitch? I think on the off chance Shauhin played his shot in the dark or if he actually had an immunity idol, Kamilla wanted someone else in the running to go home. I really don't like Kyle/Kamilla. I hope neither of them wins. It looked like in the previews that Kamilla is going to turn on Kyle, which I hope blows up both of their games.

After this episode, I get why Joe is so protective of Eva and why he has said he'd lose to keep her in the game. He feels so much guilt over what happened to his sister that it may be a small way to atone for it in part.
I do feel bad for his kids - after the pressure his father put on him to protect his sister (and then feeling like he failed her), I hope he isn't putting the same pressure on his son to protect his daughter.
I really hope they threw the book at the monster who killed Joe's sister.

I did some more digging - apparently the circumstances surrounding Joanna's death (Joe's sister) were questionable, and it led to Joe and his mom campaigning for a law in California named after her. www.intouchweekly.com/posts/what-happened-to-survivor-48s-joe-hunters-sister-joanna-hunter/I really wish Survivor had done a PSA or something about domestic violence at the end of the show. (Especially given the fact that the Amazing Race was airing right afterwards.)

I really hope they threw the book at the monster who killed Joe's sister. Damn, how did I miss that? He's said a few times throughout the season that he would sacrifice his game for Eva's. He is definitely protective of her, and it makes a lot more sense why he looked so upset when he couldn't comfort Eva after she broke down after the immunity challenge when they were on separate teams. In last week's episode, he talked about how his sister died due to domestic violence. He said his dad had always told him to look after his sister, and how he felt like he failed her. It didn't help that he fought with his sister the night before she died, and their last words on the phone were harsh. In the article I posted upthread, it said she died of suspected suicide, but authorities didn't investigate further, despite a history of domestic violence with her husband. Joe and his mom then worked to change the law in CA to allow family members in similar cases to request case files and additional inquiry to be made.

mich5481 thanks I’ll go back and watch when they were at the sanctuary reading their letters from home. I did read the article you posted. I must’ve been doing something when that scene was on because I don’t remember it. It kinda does explain his protectiveness of Ava.

Absolutely thrilled with the winner.
I don't want Survivor winners to be based on emotion. It is a game. I want the best game player to win.
Fun to see that David faked being a villain.

I’m so happy who won too! I think it was smart of them to split up. I loved how the played the game! Some were surprise they were working together and others I think might had a clue.
I’m surprised Joe only got one vote! His social game must’ve been poor or something. He did win 4 immunity idols.
I’m glad Eva persevered and really she wouldn’t have done as great without Joe there being there and helping her. Especially with the fire!

Joe did not orchestrate any major moves. He saved himself by winning challenges. Eva was the same.

Kyle really should be sharing some of the loot with Kamilla! I had been hoping for those two throughout, but really didn't think they had a chance when they kept Joe around for so long. Loved how honest they were with each other about not taking the other to the end without fire. And how well she took it when she was the person relegated to making fire. And they kept the deception going until just the right point at the last tribal, when Eva was proud of how she had such a big part in voting out Shahin and they dropped the bombshell.
I felt sorry for Joe. If he had stuck to the original plan and took the bro's to the end--Shahin and David--he would probably have won. The look on his face when Kyle and Eva were talking about their education and careers at the end showed how much he was taken in by them. Here he thought he was bringing them along when it was the other way around. I don't think they were maliciously using him, but it must have hurt all the same.

I was super surprised that Joe didn't get more votes, and didn't win. The whole time they didn't vote him out, I was like WHhhhaaaat? why pass up that chance? but I guess it worked out!

And I'm even more surprised that Eva got all of her votes and more that Joe. Sure, she "played with heart". But don't they all in some way? By the end, I was really hoping that Camilla would win the final challenge and then the fire challenge. I loved that the jury said they all would have voted for her. She was the ultimate to outplay and outwit, but couldn't outlast the others. In the end, I would have given Kyle my vote, too.

I have been so behind on Survivor I haven't opened this thread.. It will be interesting what ya'll thought now that I can read it. I was rooting for Eva or Joe. Not sure how ya'll feel about them.. but I LOVED their relationship and Eva killed it. Anyways.... I'll be catching up and seeing what the chatter is all about and see if I agree.. HAHA.

We just finished watching. Honestly we would have been happy with any of the final three winning. We're very happy for Kyle. And truthfully, if not for Joe, Eva wouldn't have made it so far without his support and understanding. I'm not taking anything away from what she did but she owes a lot to Joe ~ and she acknowledged that. I'm glad to hear they all get money. There was an article in our newspaper about Joe since he lives semi-close to us.
I thought this was a great season. There weren't any bitter jury members, David was flat out hilarious and everyone had a great time at the finale. Well done Survivor 48!
