I'm not surprised Kyle won, as the editing kind of telegraphed it. LOL, that's what I get for learning about Edgic!
I did feel bad for Joe (and Eva) - I don't think they got Survivor rewards turning on your allies. Both of them are such strong team players that they would not have put themselves first. I wonder if it would have changed the votes if they had gone after each other at the final tribal council. It would have been better for either one of them if other players had taken out one of the pair earlier. [Side note, I hope as Eva progresses in her career, she champions her work and owns her career moves so no one in her male dominated field takes advantage of her.]
I wonder when they'll release the cast list for season 50. I feel bad for season 49, as they're going to be overshadowed by everyone wanting to see the big reunion season. I also can't wait to see a season without the fire making challenge, as I honestly don't see the fans voting to keep it.

I saw something last night that said the names for season 50 they’re gonna be released on CBS this morning next Wednesday. All I know is I don’t wanna see Boston Rob or his wife.

I can think of a few I don't want to see for 50... I think I'm over Parvati too... LOL
I wasn't really a Kyle fan to be honest, but the last episode swayed me a bit. Especially after he heard Eva's frustration, and seemed like he would step in and throw himself on the fire(hehe pun intended) at the end if Joe had said it was too much for her. IMO, both of them being willing to do that gained my vote.
I would have liked to see Joe win because he was so genuine, but that might have been why he didn't.
David's little prank was so funny! I bet it was hard to stay straight-faced through the tribals!
I'm not sure I've ever seen Jeff actually hug a winner!! LOL

I saw something last night that said the names for season 50 they’re gonna be released on CBS this morning next Wednesday. All I know is I don’t wanna see Boston Rob or his wife. I highly doubt we'll ever see Amber play again. I got the impression she was really reluctant to play again, and it took a lot of convincing to get her to play in season 40. The problem with picking Boston Rob or Parvati is they are going to have a huge target and be voted out so quickly. Think about how they did in the Traitors - both were easily targeted, and neither made it terribly far. Although, I do think it was a mistake for Alan to name Rob as a Traitor - it would have been far more interesting to see him as a Faithful. Parvati at least wasn't picked by Alan, but she was picked by Dan and Phaedra as an obvious shield. |

I'm happy with Kyle winning. He wasn't my first choice in the beginning but by the end I thought he played the best game and I like him. I liked Joe and he was a challenge beast and had a good social game. But I think Kyle definitely outplayed all of them. And Kamilla did too. I was sad for her that she couldn't build the fire. She had way more influence in the game than Eva did but it came down to Eva making fire. I thought Kamilla flew under the radar though so it was surprising that they all said they would have voted for her.
We didn't get to watch until last night so have been avoiding spoilers. Mitch is from our area and they interviewed him on the news after the show aired on Wednesday night. We muted it real quick but DH thought he heard them say that Mitch was in the final so we were confused when he got voted out. I guess they just meant the final episode. We really liked him so we were excited for him but he just didn't have the numbers. Also thought it was interesting that nobody wanted to sit next to him because they thought he would win.
Kamilla's come from behind win in the challenge was amazing. I loved her old Kamilla/new Kamilla narrative. One of my favorite parts of Survivor is how contestants grow and gain confidence. Very inspiring.
Overall, I thought it was a good season.

Has anyone followed along with all the fan voting this season for next season? I heard they were asking about whether there should be idols or special advantages, what games/puzzles should be included, but did they ask which past players people wanted to see again?
If they have returning players, I hope it would be ALL returning players. I hate it when they throw in a couple of veterans with a bunch of newbies. |

I still think overall this season was boring and I won't remmeber much from it in the coming days but I was happy with the winner. I really would have preferred Kamilla to win the whole thing but Kyle was good too. I did not want Eva to win. I won't say any more about it but she was only ok for me.
I did love how David was a fake villain. lol When he was staring at them during FTC I was like "COME ONNNNNN GUY! Enough with being the biggest, most bitter, crybaby juror EVER!" then he totally fooled everyone!
Wednesday they are finally announcing the all star cast of season 50. Can't wait!

Am I the only one who wasn’t buying that David was putting on an act? I think that he was bitter in the beginning and then did his “acting” to save face as the season went on and other contestants commented on it when they got to Ponderosa. But I was never a David fan, so maybe I’m just projecting.
Parvati has a book coming out. I listened to an interview that she did and it was hard to imagine her as a 40 something single mom! It sounds like she’s had some ups and downs in life. She just did a special season of Survivor Australia that was only 16? Days and said that it was a good length of time to play. I’ll have to figure out how to watch that. I’ve heard that the Australia version is pretty good.

I could be wrong but I thought I heard implied somewhere that all the jury members received some kind of monetary prize.
I loved Kyle and Kamilla's game and have been rooting for them. I laughed out loud when David broke his cover. Glad he wasn't really bitter as it would have been a downer for the finale.

All of the Survivor players get some money, it just depends on how many players there are and how long they last in the game. Second place gets $100k and 3rd place gets $85k. Even the first person gets at least a couple thousand. I didn't realize it, but they used to pay players $10k to come to the live reunion show. I won’t be surprised for a live finale for season 50. It’s hard to keep the boot order a secret in the returning player seasons, so the release of the final 3 order is one thing the producers can control.
I am feeling a little bad for the season 49 players. Their season is going to be completely overshadowed by season 50.

Very glad with the winner - he had the best game - which isn't saying much as this season was not the most strategic.
Can we go back to 1 hour episodes and 39 days and live finales?
Overall a somewhat boring season but I hung in despite the bloated episodes and was happy Kyle won. He and Camila were the only two left who actually tried anything!

It's an interesting group. It's hard to believe that they had over 700 past Survivors to choose from! There are some surprises and some that I'm wondering if they can live up to their old personas that made them so entertaining to watch, especially a decade or two later. Maturity and seeing yourself on their prior season could really change how they play this time around. There's a loooong but fairly good interview on Rob Has A Podcast where they go through the 24 person cast and do a lot of speculating on why each was chosen and their season(s). But it's hard to get too excited--we are 8 months out from watching Season 50! I did hear that they had all left for Fiji already and are currently into the season. It will be interesting to see if they go longer than 26 days since they have another 6 cast members. Maybe we will see 4 tribes in the beginning? That's a lot to keep straight! |

Didn’t they go longer than 26 days when it first started? 39 days - another cost saving measure attributed to Covid, since they made people quarantine in Fiji for 14 days when they started filming again. |

That’s exactly what they did for one of the seasons of Survivor-the fans voted! I think Jeff just wanted to control who got to play again and personally after hearing who they cast for Survivor 50 they made horrible choices. They had 49 seasons to choose from-a ton! Yet they chose zero people from seasons 19-31 and 3 from season 48 and 2 from season 49! Reading on the responses on the Facebook Survivor groups people are not happy with the selection. Very, very uneven between new era (so much more) vs old, and who was cut at the end. |
