Please tell me that isn't news? Is it not widely known that other countries have given a lot of aid and support to Ukraine? I believe, from a quick search, that Europe together has spent more money than the US although the US is the largest single donor. If you, general you, only listen to FOX, yes you think the US is single handedly funding the war in Ukraine because “other countries don’t pay their fair share”. Yes, that is the truth MAGA think the USA is the leader in supporting the war. They only want to support the USA and do not have an interest in international relations. See what FF has done to Canada, Mexico, Greenland and the Golf of Mexico. We are in an abusive relationship with FF/Vance and are being polarized from the rest of the world.

From my reading the MAGA's are all about shutting down the money/support and to take care of the USA first but these funds have been approved by congress. When I research it is obvious that a lot of other countries support Ukraine in the war against Russia. It is not just the USA providing support and we should never ally with Russia. Please tell me that isn't news? Is it not widely known that other countries have given a lot of aid and support to Ukraine? I believe, from a quick search, that Europe together has spent more money than the US although the US is the largest single donor. Many in the US feel that they are solely supporting this war with little help from other countries when if fact, the EU is giving more.

I unfortunately don’t have a source for this but it doesn’t really matter sadly, it’s a widely held view. “There are moments in history where you can feel the tectonic plates of power shifting under your feet, the precise seconds when empires declare themselves rotten and ready to collapse. February 28, 2025, was one of those moments—a grotesque display of unchecked narcissism, geopolitical idiocy, and the full-throttle transformation of American foreign policy into a goddamn mafia shakedown. Donald Trump, the world’s loudest and dumbest charlatan, decided to hold a public execution of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, not with bullets, but with bullying. This was not diplomacy. This was not strategy. This was the kind of goonish humiliation typically reserved for reality television, except now the stakes were measured in millions of lives and the looming specter of World War III. “YOU’RE GAMBLING WITH WORLD WAR III” Trump—flanked by his yes-man JD Vance and an eerily silent Marco Rubio—welcomed Zelenskyy to the Oval Office only to berate, belittle, and ultimately dismiss him like a waiter who forgot to refill his Diet Coke. The Ukrainian president had made the grave mistake of advocating for his people, for his country, for his soldiers dying daily on the front lines against Russian invaders. But in Trump’s world, there is no room for dignity or resistance—only total submission to the Don. "You’re gambling with World War III," Trump barked at Zelenskyy, acting like a discount Tony Soprano shaking down a local shopkeeper. "You either make a deal, or we are out." The message was crystal clear: Surrender to Putin, or America lets you rot. When Zelenskyy pushed back—trying to explain, like a rational human being, that diplomacy requires more than rolling over and exposing your belly to a psychotic autocrat like Vladimir Putin—Vance chimed in, whining that it was "disrespectful" to discuss such things in front of the American media. Disrespectful! As if the real problem here was the optics, not the grotesque moral betrayal unfolding in real time. TRUMP’S FIXATION WITH GRATITUDE: A MOB BOSS DEMANDING TRIBUTE "Have you ever said thank you once?" Vance sneered at Zelenskyy, echoing his master’s worldview that all human interactions are transactional. "You have to be thankful," Trump added, "you don’t have the cards. You’re buried there." This is what American diplomacy has become: an extortion racket. Forget alliances, forget history, forget standing up to despots—Trump views everything through the lens of a cheap con artist running a rigged casino. Ukraine, in his mind, is a desperate gambler, and Trump is the pit boss deciding whether to extend another round of credit. If Zelenskyy had gotten on his knees and kissed Trump’s golden slippers, maybe he’d have left with something. But instead, he left with nothing, because he had the audacity to act like the elected leader of a sovereign nation, rather than a groveling servant. THE CANCELED PRESS CONFERENCE: WHEN THE HUMILIATION IS TOO MUCH TO SPIN After the carnage, Trump did what he always does: He took to Truth Social to declare victory. "I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace," he wrote, as if the real issue is Ukraine’s unwillingness to surrender, rather than Russia’s ongoing campaign of war crimes and territorial theft. The joint press conference was canceled—which in diplomatic terms is the equivalent of overturning the table and storming out of the restaurant. Zelenskyy was seen leaving the White House, no deal signed, no support secured. Just the bitter taste of betrayal in his mouth. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian ambassador literally facepalmed in the middle of the meeting. She couldn’t even hide her disgust. This was the international equivalent of watching your boss drunkenly scream at a client in a meeting while you rub your temples and quietly plan your resignation. TRUMP’S ‘PEACE’ PLAN IS A SURRENDER PLAN This is all part of a deliberate pivot in American foreign policy. Trump has always sided with Russia, whether it’s calling Putin "a very smart guy," ignoring his war crimes, or pretending Ukraine started the war. Now, his administration is pushing a so-called "peace plan" that amounts to a glorified land grab for Moscow. The Wall Street Journal has already reported that Trump’s advisers are split on how exactly to force Ukraine to submit. Some want a "frozen conflict"—which translates to "Russia keeps what it stole"—while others are pushing for a formal deal that outright cedes Ukrainian land and resources to Putin. Either way, the outcome is the same: Ukraine loses, Russia wins, and Trump gets to preen about his ‘deal-making.’ THE DEATH OF AMERICA’S WORD The entire world saw this Oval Office debacle. If you’re an ally of the United States, you just learned a very clear lesson: You cannot trust America under Donald Trump. Your security, your sovereignty, and your survival are all secondary to whether Trump personally feels flattered. If you are not groveling at his feet, you’re expendable.
Meanwhile, Putin is watching. And he’s grinning. Because now he knows that Trump will do his dirty work for him. Zelenskyy was just the first ally to be fed to the wolves. He won’t be the last. Welcome to America, 2025. This is what losing looks like.” 😔 This entire thing (the current presidency) is sickening. Yesterday was abhorrent. The bolded part REALLY bothers me as a completely trustworthy person, who relies on others behaving in the same manner.

I'm on that bench with you MichyM ! Abhorent. And I'm sad to say basically what I have been dreading since learning of the election results. Nothing surprises me anymore either. I'm having a tough time sleeping and figuring out what actions, if any, I can take. And to reply to an earlier question you asked, relocating is an option. but we don't want to leave our lives here. We have so very many people we care deeply for. Feeling very torn but the whole world feels unsafe to some degree or other. Global catastrophe. I don't think there are enough antidepressants to lift me out of this funk. Current reality sucks!

I’ve never been so embarrassed/humiliated to be an American as I feel after yesterdays events. I’m really struggling with a lot of anger and resentment toward people who thought re-electing FF was the right thing to do. I’ve been having very frequent migraines since Inauguration Day, and I can’t watch news of any kind because I end up screaming at the TV. I live in Washington, and immediately after the election, I told DH that I did not want to leave the west coast for the next four years. Unfortunately, I don’t have that option because my FIL is 92 years old and lives in a very red southern state. FIL is not and never has been a FF supporter, but much of the extended family (DH’S aunts and cousins) are. DH’S extended family are all very nice people who I really care for, and we never talk politics when we are together. As much as I like these people, I still feel resentful that they are FF supporters. Sorry for the rant, but I need to vent and it helps to see so many others who are as angry, dismayed and disgusted as I am. At least I know I’m not alone.

I watched, and was disgusted at JD Vance for what he was saying and HOW he was saying it. And then Trump...... I am so angry. All I could think of, is they needed a real man in that room. Someone who would just give both Trump and Vance a swift right hook and knock them back on their a**. Let someone show them what real power is. That’s not power. Zelenskyy showed power when he kept his cool and refused to relent to their (oh excuse me, the Kremlin's) ridiculous “deal”.

And the not sleeping, and just the ridiculous amount of stress ALL THE TIME. I just talked about it with my PCP earlier this week. We CAN get through this. As far as which actions to take, I'm sticking with helping marginalized communities in my area. I am starting small, but it can make a huge difference in someone's life. I completely understand why you don't want to leave, but I am very happy that you have an out if you decide to take advantage of it. The thought of relocating and leaving one's life behind is so scary. I keep toying with it, but doing so on my own feel overwhelming. More HUGS to you....

President Zelenskyy met with Keir Starmer today. Hugs, smiles and a lot more relaxed. But the bigger news is that King Charles has invited him to Sandringham tomorrow. They've met before, and the crown often extends invitations such as the one recently offered to Trump. However, I don't think usually on this short notice and not to a more personal residence not typically used for State events. For example, Trump's offer is to Dumfries House in Scotland. Where I saw it first seemed to imply it was the King using ceremony to send a message.

I am so proud of the way the UK has greeted Zelensky on his arrival at Downing Street. Cheering crowds and warm greetings from Starmer. THIS is how Statesmen behave. I know the Peas know this, it’s a shame your POTUS - Pariah of the United States - and his henchmen don’t. And yes, I am totally disrespecting your Presidential Office which is something I would never have dreamed of doing before now, never mind what party was in power. I am so angry at this situation.

Oh my God I just watched a clip. Trump is going to completely isolate us, which is exactly what he wants. My God I cannot believe we are now allies with Russia. I understand what you are saying, but I also want to point out that we are not allies with Russia. Russia is using Trump to get what it wants. That doesn't mean they are truly allies. But it seems they will be the closest we have to allies for awhile. Your right. What it really means is if Putin decided to attack/annex/buy the US ( as trump keeps trying to do to other sovereign nations ) we would be basically defenseless as the “Commander in Chief” is in his pocket. That is different than an ally.
