This thread is being amended to comments about the idiot’s speech.
I’m not. I don’t want to have to buy a new TV . When I watch trump talk I tend to want to throw things at him.
trump…

Why would I listen to an hour or so of lies?

I will be avoiding it like the plague and I'm not even IN your country. I can not take any more of the lies and I know it will be all over our news channels.

I see no reason to subject myself to extended propaganda, not to mention the FF's face/voice are persona non grata in this household. Same reason I don't watch Russian broadcasts, really. Not much point since it's all going to be lies.
If anything exciting happens it'll be on the news, anyhow.

Why would I listen to an hour or so of lies? Only if they do it VH1 pop-up video style.

I can’t even tolerate listening to him for 5 minutes, let alone an hour. Any bets on how much he goes off script? Will it sound like one of his rallies with incoherent ramblings about random things like boats and sharks, Hannibal Lecter or some other weird topic?

"Yes" and "No" don't cover the possible replies, at least not the one I want to give. Mine is "HELL NO, not in a million years, not sure you could pay me enough!!!!" ugh I can't stand looking at him, never mind listening to him for even five minutes never mind an hour or more of rambling.

I will tune in at the beginning just to see what the Dems have going in terms of attendance, special guest fired gov't workers, and may watch with sound off while I tune in to a town hall with Chris Murphy.

Any bets on how much he goes off script? Surely he won’t have a script or teleprompter? One of his Pea fans complained here just the other day at Biden using them. Surely Trump is capable of speaking coherently and intelligibly without any aids? She seemed to imply so.

For those of you who will watch, this is what you will see, according to press reports:
“ President Trump is expected to boast about his assault on the federal bureaucracy and his efforts to upend global relationships during an address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, even as his administration faces lawsuits over his domestic agenda and Europe rebukes him over his treatment of Ukraine.
Addressing his largest television audience since his return to power, Mr. Trump is expected to speak about the speed with which he has pushed through reductions in border crossings, cuts to government through the Department of Government Efficiency, known as DOGE, and a slew of executive orders. He is also expected to emphasize the need to pass his legislative agenda, which includes some $4 trillion in tax cuts.
“He’s going to talk about the great things he’s done: The border’s secure, the waste he’s finding with DOGE,” said Representative Jim Jordan, Republican of Ohio and the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, who speaks frequently with Mr. Trump. “He’s going to keep laying out his vision, where he wants the country to go.”
He’s laying out his vision, ladies. His vision includes higher prices and more Elon.

And here's my bad news about the State of the Union...I'm in a hotel room with dh. He said he didn't want to actually watch the speech, but he just said that he might tune in to the aftermath so he can hear the Democrats' reaction. ugh. They'll play bits of the speech, they'll rehash it all, and blather on and on and on and on and on.... And of course I did not bring my noise-canceling headphones.

I will not watch it live but will watch some it in bits and pieces later. I will read the entire transcript of it after though.

I usually record them- and debates etc (no matter who is in office or on stage) because I do like to watch them. Not because I enjoy them, hahah but because I prefer to be able to fact check/context check at my own pace.
I prefer to watch and digest a little before I allow social media/the talking heads/influencers and Peas to tell me what I saw and heard.
I also like to be able to go back and rewatch areas of interest in context because I think there is a special place in hell for those that alter the timing, context and order of statements, as well as carefully chosen snippets and low attention span viewers form serious opinions based on the endless airing of these clips.
Anyway- it will be extremely painful and slow going because my Trump threshold is very very low.

No but I don't typically watch the SOTU address. The excess clapping gets on my nerves. Plus it is predictable. The framework is the same just the parties are different.

How can we address the virtual town hall with Chris Murphy? Sorry, I misspoke. It's not a virtual town hall, it's a live chat with Murphy, Senator Brian Schatz and Akilah Hughes sponsored by Move On called Calling BS: Live Chat and Prebuttal to Trump's Address to Congress. link
