Hi everyone! Happy International Women's Day! I am feeling not great still but I need to clean up a bit around here today ... yay me. This illness is getting old ... I will see my doctor this week ... Thanks so much for thinking of me everyone! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... it accurately represents my bedroom in the 80's ... Duran Duran were my LIFE! Dinner is up in the air ... it might be cabbage rolls or it might be takeout of some sort ... we'll see! How are your parents and your sister doing Tearisci? How is everyone feeling today? What is your weather like? It is sunny and warm here this weekend ... around 8 degrees Celsius What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Happy Saturday! leannec I really hope you get to feeling better fast! I took dinner to my mom last night because she didn't like what they were serving. She was really loopy while I was there and then I realized she wasn't wearing her oxygen so I got it back on her. I should have checked to see if her phone was charged because now I'm not getting her blood sugar readings. I'm taking the day off. I need to do some cleaning and it's been a long time since I played my games so I'm just going to chill and drink wine on the couch with my dog. Sounds like heaven to me! Hope you all have a great day!

The weather here is glorious today and should be tomorrow as well - temperatures in the mid teens Celsius and bright sunshine. We have a pretty boring weekend going on overall. Grocery shopping this morning, then DH was into the city as he needed a new carryon suitcase and I went for my walk. Since lunch I’ve been knitting and screaming through the TV at my football team who were not really trying hard enough! leannec - please go to the doctor if you’re not 100% (or close) by Monday. You seem to be getting ill so often; you really need to get to the root cause. Dinner tonight is schnitzel mit pommes (that’s with fries for the rest of you). Probably a veggie or two as well. Tomorrow it’s church, then DH is on a mid afternoon flight to Barcelona.

My DD is still here and we have lots of rechauffe. But that was dinner last night already, so who knows. 😊 A belated happy birthday to you, cadoodlebug! It was my niece’s birthday, too.

leannec, can you access your blood work results and get a feel for what is out-of-whack? It is a gorgeous day here and I'm heading to yoga in a minute. Then have to pick up a couple things for a baby shower tomorrow. We are having a bit of a baby boom this year with 4 little ones arriving in the next few months (including twins!). Not sure what will be for dinner as there are vegetables that need to be used and nothing I feel like making with them. I might make a shrimp/pasta dish or maybe suggest a stop at a new Greek restaurant.

I forgot to say what dinner plans are- probably because I don't really have any. Ramen sounds like of good or maybe prime rib dip. Nothing I have to cook. I'm not really hungry for anything these days so we'll see what sounds better as the day goes on.

Tomorrow it’s church, then DH is on a mid afternoon flight to Barcelona. It seems like your husband travels most weeks. You must have great frequent flier miles! Most of his travel is ‘domestic’ EU travel and economy class, so not mega points. He does qualify for Lufthansa Senator level, so we get lounge access when we travel with them. Unfortunately, they are hideously expensive for travel to Australia, so we don’t pick up LH points for that, which would be epic!

DH and I just got back from a nice walk ~ a cool breeze but no jacket needed. DS hurt his knee yesterday so he skipped the walk and is icing the knee.
Today DH will watch golf, DS and I will watch Dexter and tonight we'll watch the premiere of The Amazing Race. We might go for a drive too. And there will be some 5Crowns played. I won last night! (They claim they let me win because it was my birthday but I know better!)
Dinner will be gumbo and more ice cream cake for dessert.

Happy International Women's Day! ~~ I went to a brunch this morning & my friend was acknowledged for her business. There was a lovely selection of food, hot & cold items. Then off to the local quilt store to celebrate their anniversary. I was disappointed in the selection of fabrics as this store is carrying more Riley Blake, Northcott & Clothworks fabric lines and less of the Moda fabric lines. I really like the Moda designers. I didn't buy anything at all, if that is an indication of how disappointed I was. Dinner will be the broccoli cheese soup with a grilled cheese sandwich on fresh sourdough bread. leannec ~ Rest this weekend. A glorious day outside and temp is supposed to get to +15C by the end of this upcoming week. It's March Break for Ontario schools from the 9th -15th. Always great when it is nice at home as not too many people are travelling this year. Tearisci ~ I'm a bit confused as to the care that your mom is getting. Don't *they* check her sugars and ensure that she is wearing oxygen? I didn't realise that she is mobile enough to go out for dinner as she was in the hospital so recently. Seems very different than what I have observed in my part of the world. sueg ~ Schnitzel with crème de champignons is a favourite meal of mine with speztle. With your travelling to Australia, are you able to fly with another Star Alliance airline? lucyg ~ You always seem to have lots of rechauffe. Enjoy this time with your daughter. bc2ca ~ Dinner at a new Greek restaurant would be my choice. It's been a very long time since I've been to a baby shower (or any celebratory shower/party). cadoodlebug ~ Belated Happy Birthday. The Amazing Race has a bit of a new format so watch carefully. naby64 ~ Keeping you in my thoughts as you navigate your life towards *a new normal*. Grief is a beast that's all that I've got. ((hugs)) teddyw ~ Glad that you are home, safe & sound from your trip. Good luck in dealing with the jet-lag along with the Spring Ahead on Sunday. scrapmaven ~ I hope that you rested yesterday. The desk mess will wait. taylortroop ~ Is the weather beautiful on your side of the province? My windows are open & loving the sunshine. **GypsyGirl** ~ Yeah to having less people in your home on a daily basis. I hope that the PET scan goes well. hutchfan ~ Is your eye sight better? christine58 ~ Did you enjoy scrapping with friends today? ntsf ~ How was skiing today? Seems like you are having a great winter.

She's not able to leave. I brought dinner in to her last night in her room. They can't watch her 24/7 and I'm not sure how long she had the oxygen off but it's not a skilled nursing center. It's a rehab wing attached to a long-term care facility. That's why we spend a lot of time there and monitor what we can on our own. She is getting good care but there are gaps that we have to fill in sometimes.

quiltz - no to Star Alliance. It’s not possible to fly all the way to Australia with Lufthansa - they only go to SE Asia - and any combo going with them is very expensive and awful timing, taking over 30 hours. We fly Emirates with Qantas code share, so we get Qantas points. It’s something like €1000 cheaper and only takes 24 hours

DH and I went into the city this morning to do a few things. We stopped and saw DSIL who we haven’t seen since in a minute since she’s been sick. She still has some lung thing going on although she’s been to the walk in clinic and the ER a few times now. She has an appt with her family dr on Tuesday so I’m hoping they get to the bottom of her illness. I had the most delicious burger at Dairy Queen for lunch and then we came home.
@quiltz: The weather is beautiful today but still a bit cool as the temp is only 1C. We are expecting warm temps this week with highs reaching 18C.
Supper will be grilled steak, baked potatoes and grilled asparagus.

We are starting the process of laying wood LVP in the bedrooms which os a pain because we cant empty those rooms. The start of the project was rocky as that flooring always is. From all the pounding, a dish was knocked out of the cabinet in the kitchen (below the room we are working in) directly onto my electric kettle which shattered all over the floor. When we took off running to see what the commotion was, I slipped on the stairs about halfway down. Good thing I have super bendy joints. My ankle should be fine by this evening.
Anyway, I am making pork chops with beans and cornbread (the panic at the noise was because I assumed something catastophic had happened to the stove😂).

That is something that would happen to me. I have done the slip & slide from the middle of the stairs and ended up having to call 9-1-1 because my ankle was horribly sprained. Glad that you are ok and have a sense of humour. Tonight is a Birthday Celebration for my Aunt who is turning 90 to your Aunt.

leannec , please have a low tolerance for getting help this weekend if necessary. I'm a bit worried about you. I was almost gonna start the thread today so that you can rest. If you want me to do so tmw just let me know. littlemama , does super bendy=hypermobility? If so, be extra cautious and make sure that you didn't injure yourself. Is your kettle OK? Happy Birthday to your aunt, karenlou and KelleeM . I felt much better today and drove up to a yarn store where I had the world's best salesperson. I was looking at yarn and felt something furry, but assumed I had bumped into a yarn display. Then I felt something sort of hard. So, I looked down and the sweetest pair of light blue doggie eyes were looking up at me. We spent a few minutes cuddling and then I chose my yarn. I have a new favorite place to go now. I'm a HUGE animal person. Feathery, furry or fishy and I'm your gal. I'm going to prep chicken picatta for dh's dinner. I'll also make rice pilaf and then af roasted broccoli. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, my lovelies.

leannec I hope you start feeling better soon, it's being dragging on for too long. My bedroom looked exactly like that when I was a teenager!! I wish I'd taken some decent photos of it. I'll have to see if I can find one. I'll definitely look into it then ... whether I can decipher the information is another question! Exactly! I had my routine bloodwork done recently, and the doctor emailed me the results, because I hadn't gotten around to booking a Telehealth appointment to go over them. One of the results said "HbAic consistent with euglycaemic state" and I'm like oh shit, does that mean I have diabetes?? So I googled 'euglycaemic state' and saw that it means the level of glucose in the blood is normal. Phew!

I'm down at the beach house with DSO, DS and his GF, and my brother and SIL. On Friday night we ate at the pub. Last night we got Chinese takeaway. Who wants to cook on holiday (vacation)? I cannot believe the absolutely perfect weather we are enjoying this long weekend. Between 30 - 32 C every day, and nothing but blue skies. I really thought we'd missed the boat with getting in a trip to the beach and hot weather, given that we're now into the second week of autumn. Sun + Beach + Heat = a very happy AussieMeg.

Hello, all! For dinner we're either having sausage & peppers or some sort of chicken dish. DS has a bad cold (flu?) that DH and I are hoping not to catch, and has very little appetite, so meals are a bit up in the air at the moment. DH and DS will be heading out on a trip together 1 month from today so I have my fingers crossed that DS will be over whatever it is by then and that DH doesn't catch it.
I had a hair cut & color this morning, then ran some errands, including grocery shopping. Had some lunch after helping DH put away the groceries, then read for a while. Now I'm tired. I try to avoid grocery shopping on Saturdays, but we were out of too many things so I needed to go. (Actually, I try to avoid grocery shopping altogether LOL - usually I make a list and DH or DS goes.) But DH did both Costco & grocery last weekend, plus it was on my way home from the hair salon.
Now I'm working on organizing in my craft room. It's slowly coming together but there are still several categories of things to be organized and put away. I got a lot done last weekend, but less so this week/weekend. My goal is to have it put together enough that by the time DS & DH leave for their trip my SIL can come and scrapbook with me with room for both of us. My craft room at our old house was smaller than this one but had different wall space with higher windows (so I could have higher shelving units). This room is bigger but has windows that take up more wall space than in my old room so I have to store things differently. OTOH, it's wider so I can finally have an L-shaped work table with space for 2 people to sit and do paper crafting. Yay! Now just to get it done/organized!

Just a vent ... My three year old neighbour has been screaming for close to an hour ... totally normal. She drives me insane! Her parents put up with it ... I don't know what is wrong with her ... or them. I have knocked on the door and shut it down twice in the past ... Not doing it today because I am not feeling great ... but I might if it continues ... Ugh! Condo life!

As for my joints, if you take your feet and point them as far to the right as you can, it likely wont be as far as mine go- almost 90 degrees. They dont go ad far to the left. I was born like that and wore braces when I was very young to try to correct it. My doctor freaked out when I saw him for an ankle issue 10 years or so ago and he moved them. 😂😂 He assumed I had had a lot of ankle sprains and the ligaments were stretched (or something like that). I still laugh at the look on his face

I went out this morning and "demo"ed 6 different pairs of skis. If I like one, I can buy it at a discount and the bindings at a discount and pick it up next winter. of course I liked the most expensive ones!!! they were really fun. the first run near the top of the mountain was great.. got up to 40 mph.. by the time I went down and changed skis and went back to the same run.. it was not good. so I tried all the other skis on the first little chair lift at the bottom. sunny blue skies.
dh was out practicing for the race tomorrow. we are going to a a cocktail party with "heavy appetizers" so that will sub for dinner. I can have something when we come home if I want. free drinks.. but I don't drink. dh is a "celebrity" participant.. I guess because he knows how to use his ski bike.. everyone else on a bike learned the basics today. we have another awards and cocktail party tomorrow afternoon. living the high life.
thinking of you all.

littlemama , That must be quite something for a doctor to see. Bummer about your kettle. Dh and I use our kettle all the time. AussieMeg , your post made me smile. Enjoy the rest of your trip. leannec , no one tells us that the terrible 3's are much worse than the terrible 2's. Then at 4 they suddenly become human, happy children. Yikes. When is this kid's 4th birthday? Mommy and daddy need to set boundaries, as well. I remember telling my mother that my children would NEVER have a tantrum in public. She laughed at me and I was annoyed w/her reaction to my bold statement. I just would not allow it. Cue dh carrying a screaming, 2 year old ods out of Macys in a football hold. Boy was I shocked by that one. Never say never!
