Happy St. Patrick's Day!
leannec, are you feeling a lot better now? Are you working this week?
Tearisci, how was your brother's birthday dinner? How are things going today?
flanz, you've joined us, too. Please let's send our prayers and good thoughts to Flanz as she awaits medical news. I'm thinking benign and good thoughts.
I'm adding some aches to my cold. So, I'll be underneath my blankies today. Dh will fend for himself for dinner. I think he still has green bean chicken.
My voice lessons are back on Mondays, but today I'm skipping as I'm resting my singing voice.
What is everyone up to today? What's on your menu?
May this week bring good news, happy moments and lots of smiles.

I'd happily go to a Bailey's Irish cream farm. Cute meme. cadoodlebug, It sucks that you can't do aquafit today. Does that give you more time to play in your scrap room? How are you doing w/your hearing aids?

Please let's send our prayers and good thoughts to Flanz as she awaits medical news. I'm thinking benign and good thoughts. I sent flanz a text yesterday. I'm keeping her in my thoughts and prayers. She has been such an amazing friend to me through all my ups and downs. I just want to reiterate that I'm willing to do whatever I can to support her. Right now she's probably just dealing with the anxiety of the unknown and that is no fun. Big hugs, flanz. I'm adding some aches to my cold. So, I'll be underneath my blankies today. Oh, geez! I'm sorry this little cold is getting worse. Have you taken a covid test? That would be the last thing you'd need. I don't know what's for dinner. I have three more meals planned this week. Another round of philly cheesesteaks. Gotta use those buns. A sausage/cabbage/potato sheet pan dinner. I'll probably make a chipotle sauce to go with it. And taco salads which we haven't had in forever. So dinner will be one of those things. I'm just working a bit today. No complaints here.

I have a fairly easy week ahead - nothing major scheduled, so I am just going to go for walks, knit and cook dinners! Which is exactly what I’ve done today. It is still cold - we even had some light snow flutters after lunch - but it should start to warm up soon. Tearisci - how are things with your parents today? Are things settling into place a bit? flanz - I am thinking of you as you await answers on your medical tests. I spoke to my DSs again this morning. Younger DS is staying with my sister at the moment and she had talked to my dad. Step mum is a bit better today. She saw her GP this morning and it wasn’t very encouraging - as DS paraphrased it ‘she’s old and sick, and old sick people are bad at getting not sick’ - in other words, her body is failing and there’s not much they can do to improve her health, just manage symptoms. As she is finding it difficult to eat much, I am really worried about how long we will have her with us, and then what impact that will have on my dad. Dinner tonight is Beef and Guinness stew, in honour of St Patrick’s Day. It is my late grandfather’s birthday today - he was of Irish descent and named Patrick. I think he would have been about 115 today! A couple of photos DS sent from yesterday Our birthday girl . Our sweet little witch

Happy Monday!
We've had a call with an elder law attorney and have a meeting this afternoon with a VA group to talk about care options for the parents. Lots of good information to consider and things we need to know moving forward.
My brother's dinner was fun. Lots of family came and we just had a nice time. Sometimes, it's good to get away from the day to day grind that we're dealing with right now.
My mom was up bright and early this morning texting away so it sounds like she's having a good day. A friend came and visited her yesterday and brought her dinner so she was happy. Her biggest complaint about the rehab facility is the food, but I'm guessing it is probably the same at most places. She has lost her taste for pretty much everything so that combined with not-stellar food is not a good combo.
For dinner, I have some marinated chicken thighs for fajitas so I'll have that with some rice.
Hope you all have a great day! Hugs to all of those who need them.

jeremysgirl, probably a good idea to test. I need to get hold of a test. I think it's just a cold/virus that will pass. I hope that your week is a truly good week w/lots of relaxing fun in the mix. sueg, your granddaughters are just adorable. I'm sorry to hear that your stepmum is doing so poorly. My thoughts are w/your family. Tearisci, once you get your mom in place then you'll develop a new norm and life will calm down. It's a good thing that you're reached out for information from the atty and your local VA Group. It'll be good to connect w/other families who have navigated this path, too.

It sucks that you can't do aquafit today. Does that give you more time to play in your scrap room? How are you doing w/your hearing aids? The hearing aids are fine. Like I said before, I don't see much difference until he turned them off at the last appointment! We were having a conversation and he hit a button on his computer which turned them off. Everything was then muted. Yes, I will work on my layouts this morning. I'm still printing more pictures and fine-tuning my journaling. sueg, the girls are adorable.

The hearing aids are fine. Like I said before, I don't see much difference until he turned them off at the last appointment! This probably means they are working! It's amazing that we just get used to things like that (glasses too) and we don't realize just how things are until we take them off.

cadoodlebug: Yes! The hearing aids are working like they should. I don’t even notice mine all day long once they are in my ears. However, the world sure comes alive first thing in the morning when I put them in. You will get so used to hearing normally with them that if something happens to one of them, you will immediately notice that something isn’t right and your hearing is unbalanced. A bright sunny day today but definitely much cooler than the past week. DH tried to go for a bike ride today and came back because the cold was making his eyes water. I will venture out for a walk in a bit and maybe try Walker with his new collar again. Supper will be McDonalds. Gotta use the coupons we got in the mail.

I have not heard anything back from the diagnostic radiologist yet and am thinking that he has opted not to work on weekends since my chiro last sent films to him. I'm feeling very calm and in wait mode. I have some errands to run today but am in no hurry to get up and get moving. Peaing and may call a friend. Love and hugs to all, and extra hugs to those facing challenges. You ladies rock!

Good morning! I had all sorts of plans for dinner but at the moment, I am thinking of running through Arby's and getting a Reuben sandwich. That clicks all my bases for cabbage and corn beef. I had planned on a Guinness stew and beer bread. I got to thinking on the bread and didn't think I needed an entire loaf of bread hanging around this week. I'm adding some aches to my cold. So, I'll be underneath my blankies today. Dh will fend for himself for dinner. I think he still has green bean chicken.

Hate to hear you are adding more symptoms. Take care. And it's ok to skip a lesson. Rest your voice and your body. It's nasty out and AquaFit is canceled. This afternoon I have my final appointment to fine tune my hearing aids. I know that is a bummer for you on canceling. And good to hear that your aids are working even when you think they are not. And you reminded me I have a bottle of Bailey's in the back of the fridge. I also have some ice cream. Maybe I will make a milkshake. Even though I have a weigh-in tomorrow at the doctor's so maybe not a milkshake. jeremysgirl I love that you take your friend duty to heart. What a good thing to have. sueg what a good family support system you all have. And your granddaughters are adorable. Happy Monday dinner friends! scrapmaven I'm so sorry that your cold is worsening. Spend the day cozy and under the covers! flanz Sending good prayers and vibes for a negative outcome on your tests. sueg oh those precious little ladies! I'm sorry that your step-mum is not doing well. I hope your dad will be able to remain strong. cadoodlebug Love the meme! and yuck on the nasty weather! jeremysgirl how is your foot/ankle doing? I'm so happy to hear your new job is going well! What a weekend!! I was supposed to house sit for my son this weekend. he had a tummy bug so decided to stay home, Which freed me up from going over to his house, I offered to take him soup and he took me up on it, Friday evening I took him some chicken rice soup, applesauce and ginger ale. While I was there I gathered the eggs and watered the donkeys for him. he looked and sounded icky. It made my momma heart hurt. Saturday he sounded better. I offered to take another care package to him, but he declined. I realized that the freezer in our kitchen fridge didn't seem to be cooling, so I sorted thru the two freezer drawers and salvaged what I could, moving it to the deep freeze in the garage, I kept monitoring the fridge section and noticed it wasn't cooling like it should be either, so then I sorted and schlepped everything I could to the garage fridge. Scrubbed the fridge down since it's empty, cleaned behind it. I'm so frustrated, the fridge and all of appliances will be 7 years old on Good Friday. ugh!! Dh will see if he can troubleshoot and salvage it. Fingers crossed. Sunday my son was feeling better and had cabin fever, so he came over to visit, we ventured to Lowes to look at refrigerators and garden plants. I made lunch for us and we chilled. I hate that he didn't feel well to go to the coast with the family, but I'm glad he had some downtime and I was able to spend some time with him. This morning, I've had issues with my laptop, so work was bumpy, I'm finally up and running! I'm supposed to go to dinner for a friends birthday this evening, but I'm feeling exhausted and really want to chill or sew for my own sanity! Dinner will either be dinner out for my friends Birthday, or whatever falls out of the garage fridge when I open it. :-) Wishing everyone a great Monday and Happy St. Paddy's day!!

We ended up living out of 6 coolers for 5 days and lost a good amount of food. Refrigerators are now built to last 7-10 years at best. You can thank all the government regulations. There are no longer fans in refrigerators and if the compressor or evaporator goes, you're probably better off buying a new one. Did you know every time you open your refrigerator, a message is sent to the EPA? At least that's what our salesperson told us.

If there is something wrong, you should get started with medical professionals as soon as possible Thanks, yes. I just sent a very detailed message to my primary care (she's a fab nurse practitioner) including two very thorough reports from the chiropractor. Happily I already have a full physical scheduled for 9 days from now and requested bloodwork be done before then so we could discuss. If the physical can be moved up, that will be great. After reading my long message today I'm expecting she'll want to see me sooner at least to discuss these findings by the chiro. Big hugs to all of you!

Popping in quickly as the day is quite busy. It seems that I am a bakery today. I've made banana muffins, chocolate chip cookies, 2 loaves of lemon bread and now have yeast rising for cinnamon rolls. I am preparing snacks for my son & gkids as it is almost fishing season and they like quick bites while on the boat. I do add a bit of protein powder to add a bit extra nutrition. Yesterday I made a batch of meat buns and they are in the freezer. Thinking of you flanz and everyone else.

flanz they are not old quotes. They are from today. For whatever reason, I have noticed the board will sometimes quote posts that are from that day or a very current day before and show as older quotes. Since we don't seem to have an active admin these days, the glitches just stay glitched.

I didn't want to bump yesterday's thread, but thanks for answering, sueg. I thought Catholic services/structure were pretty consistent around the world and didn't realize there are regional differences. It sounds like the church DD's friend (Christian, but not Catholic) is working for does not have a volunteer choir and has hired her quartet to lead hymns/responses, etc. Sending all the positive vibes your way, flanz. I would definitely be trying to get an appointment with your PCP as soon as possible while waiting on the report. I'm working on laundry this morning. DH didn't get his done yesterday, so I am being a nice wife and doing his, too. While it chugs away I'm making a Swedish death cleaning list of places that need to be purged like my bathroom drawers, front hall closet, etc., so I stop fluttering from one thing to another and actually finish an area. Yesterday I finally found a nursery with grapefruit trees in stock, so will head south to pick one up for DH's birthday tomorrow. He has quite the little orchard with apple, plum, apricot, olive, lemon and avocado trees. It think he is on the 4th avocado without success, so DD is getting him a nice book on growing fruit trees. I'm calling a fend for yourself night here as there is plenty of roast lamb and vegetables from last night.

It sounds like the church DD's friend (Christian, but not Catholic) is working for does not have a volunteer choir and has hired her quartet to lead hymns/responses, etc. . Catholic Masses are consistent across the world - I sometimes go to Mass in a German church on holy days when our community doesn’t have a Mass, or it’s at a time I can’t do, and I can follow it completely, even if I don’t know all the responses or prayers in German. The differences come in parish/community structures and practices. For example - we don’t have altar servers at our chapel, and our organisation is almost completely run by Laity. jeremysgirl - that chili looks great. I’ll try to get a decent pic of it from my computer later and try it out next week. This week’s menu is already fairly set.
