I love this for you! I can just picture you pushing your grandson in his stroller to the neighborhood park you share.
Enjoy the process of expressing yourself, for yourself and no one else!

Just T ~~ I also rented a place for about a year after my separation as was recommended by my therapist and friends (who had walked the path). It gave me a space that wasn't emotionally connected to the discord in my life. I was able to really see what was available to buy and I did find a good deal on a condo. I've been here for almost 14 years and have no desire to move. I was able to slowly discard stuff and find what I wanted in my home. My home is my sanctuary and I'm quite picky about who I allow in my home. Thankfully my building has 2 separate rooms, a reading lounge and the very top that has couches, chairs, coffee-tables, washrooms and can be used for *light* entertaining. I am able to host Euchre parties without having people in my home. A bit of a pain to bring the food/drinks up but not having to worry about my place being clean or people snooping is worth it.

Once again, thank you all, soooo much! It's kind of unexpected the emotions I have had the past week or so. I thought I had worked through all that yuckky stuff. LOL I am so excited to get moved in and have my own little sanctuary and begin making my life great. I know it's going to be great, because I'm going to make sure it is. I didn't go through all I've been through in the past 4 years to have it be anything else.

Very cute place!
I am glad to hear, that you are taking a year to re-group and figure everything out. I am glad you finally get closure, and are starting a new chapter.

So excited for you!
Did you get the antique desk your ex claimed? I feel like that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Congratulations to you! I hope your new house feels like a home in no time, and that it gives you a great launching pad for whatever's next. Usually I'm a huge fan of decluttering, especially before/during moving ... but I have to say it filled me with a huge sense of satisfaction to think about you only taking the things you love and need and leaving any and all clutter and junk for your xdh to deal with Hell, I'd probably go out looking for random crap to leave for him to have to clean up ... like all the 'leftovers' of any garage sale I happened across in the next few weeks Oh this is an awesome idea - just take what you love and leave the rest. So glad you can settle in your own place after all bullsh*t you have had to put up with. Enjoy the next phase.

I am positively thrilled for you! I think it is a very wise choice to rent for now as you go through this transition phase. You have found a wonderful house and such a bonus being so close to your daughter, son in law and new grand baby. I am so happy for you!

Did you get the antique desk your ex claimed? I feel like that was the straw that broke the camel's back. It wasn't an antique. It was just a really nice desk with hutch on top that matched the bookshelf and another cabinet. Weird, I had kind of forgotten that part! LOL The day I came home from work and he had just emptied all the stuff of mine in the desk, removed it from the room and took it upstairs to use as his desk. I asked him if he wants the matching pieces, and he said no. I asked him if I could then have the desk back so it matches everything else. I think he's going to give it to me. We shall see. LOL

I just remember reading the story of him stealing your desk, and it stayed with me. That was back in the early days of this. LOL I remember being soooooo pissed off. He had emptied this huge desk and just put my shit everywhere, and I spent weeks finding places to put it all.
