No seed. Then looking for longer I see a seed, only in the dark one. Now no seed. Yup no seed.
Except I'd call it a pit not a seed.

I can see a seed (stone) and cannot see none. I’m usually pretty good at optical illusions, I can see the magic eye pictures and many of the illusion ones I can see both ways but not with this.

Yeah that's half an avocado with a seed/pit. You can tell because there's a few tendrils of flesh clinging to the right side of it near the edge and the shadow underneath the bottom pip. First picture is just a case of poor contrast. The blue/black or white/gold dress was more interesting.

My first thought was no stone. I can see why it’s possible to see the stone in the left pic but it was obvious to me that there was a dip in the flesh, not a stone.

I voted for not seeing the pit because at first glance I did not see it in either photo. After awhile I could sort of quickly see it in the dark photo, but I don't think I saw it well enough or long enough to really vote as seeing it both ways.

I see it in the second photo. The color is not the same as the fruit. On the first one there is no color contrast so it looks like no pit.

I think there is a pit, or seed.

I just pitted a couple of avocados this afternoon to make guacamole. I see the pit in both photos. There’s that little nubbin on the end of the pit near the bottom of the photos.

There is definitely a seed (pit) there, I don't know why "The optical illusion has divided people on the internet who are adamant it’s one or the other." There is no "one or the other", there's definitely a pit. As soon as you see the little knobbly bit that looks like a belly button, it's blindingly obvious that there is a pit in there:

Ah yes, I see what you mean - if I scroll down to only see the top half of the picture, it definitely looks like there is no pit, and it is the slightly darker flesh from where the pit was removed.

I have never ate an avocado or cut one so I had no idea what I was looking for. However, I definitely see 2 blackheads so I assume one of them might be a pit or seed or whatever it is called. 😂

This is really weird to me. I see a pit…because there IS a pit. It’s the only way I can see it.

I’m more caught up in the fact that some people apparently call it a seed.

As soon as you see the little knobbly bit that looks like a belly button, it's blindingly obvious that there is a pit in there. What you are saying is a knobby bit on the pit could be an indent in the avocado flesh from where the knobby bit of the pit used to be.

At least to my eyes. 🤷♀️

Oh girl…you have no idea what you’re missing! Confession time...the only fruits or vegetables I eat are apples, bananas, corn and occasionally I will eat a carrot. I know that now they say corn isn't a vegetable but I am clinging on to it being one.

Plain avocado is pretty boring, IMO, but guacamole (with TONS of lime, cilantro, and garlic!) is divine!!

I say no stone, but I can see why it could look like either.
The avocado would have needed to be cut with a pretty sharp knife. If the stone was still there, the cut would show on the stone and it doesn't. IMO lol
