Good Morning. I meant to come back to the thread yesterday, but I caught some energy after my appt and went to a nearish town to a big grocery store that I go to every once in a while. Then I did something shocking, I went into our new Costco. My dislike for Costco is famous, but I wanted to see it and grab some lamb chops. Saw it, wasn't impressed and now I'm grateful that I won't have to step foot into a Costco for a very long time. It seemed like a happier thread and that was such a pleasure to read. cadoodlebug, thank goodness that you don't have skin cancer. Now that you have had a pre cancerous lesion they will watch you like a hawk. Did they send a sample to pathology? jeremysgirl, you are spot on about tomatoes from the garden being just delicious. When I used to eat normal stuff I would pick sungolds, rinse them off and then eat them as a snack. They're sweet like candy. Tomatoes were an essential food group. bc2ca, I hope that you win your appeal. Some rep at the insurance company must know a lot more than the doctor who puts hands on you and knows your story. ARGH! ntsf, how fun that you get to watch so much skiing by the pros. Did you ever contemplate competing when you were young? How is your injury? Today I'm meeting a friend for afternoon tea for her belated birthday. I brought her a little gift that she won't be expecting. Dinner will finally be tarragon chicken. I was going to make it last night, but I picked up those lamb chops from Costco. Did I mention that I hate Costco? What are you doing today? What's for dinner? Enjoy your day and may it make you happy and content.

Any big store really. Yikes! Tomatoes were an essential food group. I eat a lot of tomatoes. A lot. I planted a ton of San Marzanos because they are the best for sauce. I planted some Romas. Large cherries and small super sweets. Let's hope they sprout. I know they can take up to two weeks to sprout. Today I have little sprouts of basil and parsley so things are actually working. I'm so damn pleased with myself. Chloe is coming to dinner tonight. I'm making a spicy tofu over rice with a cucumber salad. Other than that I am just doing a little bit of work. Things are a bit slow for me.

Happy Friday eve dinner friends! scrapmaven I'm glad you caught some energy and had a nice day out, minus Costco pleasure. :-) I have certain things I get at Costco and very carefully time my visits there. DH signed us up for a Sam's membership so that we can compare. I'm anxious to check it out, they have one very convenient location ( right next to Hobby Lobby) I'll see if I like their produce as well as Costco. Tearisci I was happy to read your updates on your parents I hope that continues to be the forward path. You deserve a break from the stress. @dcadoodlebug I'm glad the Derm was able to address the spot quickly in their office. jeremysgirl Midwest garden tomatoes are the absolute best!! I miss them so much! All garden produce is amazing! I gave up on growing one here in central TX, too hot too dry and the soil is horrible. I know there are other friends that I meant to comment on from the last couple of days, just know I'm thinking of you all! I have 3 more conference calls today and a company awards program that I've been told I should attend. It's rainy here so the last thing I want to do is venture across town in the rain at rush hour. but I will do so. I could go on and on about my hectic week, but I'll just wish everyone a happy day! Enjoy yourselves today everyone!!

Happy Thursday!
We've got the ball rolling on getting Medicaid approval for my mom. There are a lot of hoops to go through and we've hired an elder law attorney to help protect dad's assets until he is approved for long-term care. The nursing home is only concerned about their payment and not protecting assets so hiring the attorney will help. We've also had to provide receipts for checks written to us over $200. We often buy things for them and then get a check for reimbursement but Medicaid looks at any checks over $200 to make sure they're not hiding assets. I worked on that this morning and got that over to my sister.
Tonight, I think my dad is coming over for dinner and I'm making a sausage pasta. I've been taking dinner to him but it would be nice if he can get out of the house.
Hope you all have a great day!

I was at Costco yesterday as well scrapmaven! Normally, I don't mind it but yesterday everyone there was pissing me off! Both in the store and in the parking lot! It wasn't that busy but people were just being jerks and idiots. I did remember to buy Butter Chicken sauce! Anyway, I'm going to a local Mexican place for lunch with a few ladies from a Facebook group that I belong to ... I have never met any of them before so it should be fun! We'll see! Then my mum is coming over later this afternoon ... I'm making spaghetti with homemade meat sauce for us for dinner ... I haven't cooked for her in months!

Her ribs are still healing but she no longer has the bacterial infection so that's a big plus! She is able to drive now which takes a huge load off of me! Chick even went to bingo yesterday!

Good afternoon all
This morning I had a meeting with my afterschool care colleagues to plan our two school holiday programs. I will be a leader for the Easter program - the four days in the week leading to Easter. Good Friday is a holiday here, so we don’t operate that day. There will be another program for the first week of the summer vacation in early August, but I didn’t sign up for that as I’m not sure of our summer plans. We will have 8 kids at Easter, which is a nice sized group and we have plans for craft, baking, a museum and possibly a movie at the cinema.
After we finished with that, I took the tram into the city centre for a bit of a look at the craft store and then lunch. I tried a new Indian street food place but I wasn’t really impressed - I think my Dal is better than theirs!
Dinner here tonight is Okonomyaki. DH is likely to be late as his work is having a blood donor challenge, and he signed up as a recent blood test showed he had high hemoglobin and his doctor suggested he give blood. He is usually a bit of a wimp when it comes to blood tests, so I hope all goes well. He’ll message me as he leaves with his ETA, so I can have food ready when he gets in.

leannec , its' a healthy sign that your mom was back at bingo. Was she comfortable after a few hours of sitting in a hard chair? Enjoy lunch w/your FB group. Have fun. austnscrapaddict , ITA w/ jeremysgirl . Please find ways to rest and relax this week. Sounds like you need to put on your roller skates and zoom through the week. Tearisci , it's nice that things are moving fwd and that you're all close to having everything settled. It's a lot of red tape, though. Go have more fun. Too much stress and not enough play isn't OK.
sueg, your after school kids are going to have so much fun w/you. I can only imagine how much children love you. You're just wonderful w/kids.

I agree but I still worry ... bingo is on the other side of the city and she has just now become more mobile ... She brings a cushion to sit on everytime she plays! She actually won $100 yesterday!

Good afternoon ~ it's a beautiful day outside and I went for a walk. I am going on a trip and need some spending money so I have been listing some unique fabric on-line and have so far sold $400.00 worth of stuff! I have more to list but it really is a pain to do so. I'm not a friend of social media and with this being a Canada wide site, there are time zones to be taken into account. Dinner is to be determined. I agree but I still worry ... bingo is on the other side of the city and she has just now become more mobile ... She brings a cushion to sit on everytime she plays! She actually won $100 yesterday! ^^^ Is she still on any pain medication? This would really concern me if she would be driving while taking strong pain medication. Enjoy your evening with your mom.

I'm anxious to check it out, they have one very convenient location ( right next to Hobby Lobby) I'll see if I like their produce as well as Costco. I must be the outlier ~ I love going to Costco and go at least once a week. I'm in and out quickly and it is rarely crowded when I go. There are plans to build one near the off ramp from the highway about 5 minutes from us (it's actually on the way to AquaFit.) It's kind of a joke between one of the door checkers who always says to me, *See you tomorrow!* Did they send a sample to pathology? There wasn't anything to send. He just zapped it. I will monitor it and if it doesn't heal well in the next 6 weeks, I'll be seeing him again. I thought about going to AquaFit this morning but it's so cold and dreary, I decided to pass. Dinner will be a meatless soup I picked up at Costco. I keep a calendar of our meals and am happy that we only had red meat 5 days this month.

cadoodlebug , I know that a lot of people really like Costco and everytime I go I hope to have some great sales epiphany. I'm planning to find the best bargain on a great item in the history of best bargains on great items. Instead I come out disappointed and SMH that I went to Costco in the first place. I really need to get a life. quiltz, it's exciting that you're going on vacation. I hope you earn lots of fun spending money.

Dh's old car will be sold by the end of the day. The dealership now has it set so the highest bid at end of day gets it. Last I heard, it was at $3800- a far cry from the $6200 the dealership would have given us of it hadnt been for the carfax report, but better than zero. In my mind I had set $4k as the lowest amt Id be happy with, so we are in that ballpark.
We had chicken nuggets and tots last night so we will have fish tonight.

Instead I come out disappointed and SMH that I went to Costco in the first place. Some of my favorite clothes have been bought at Costco. I have several pairs of Eddie Bauer capris that were a huge bargain and I wear them all the time. Also, tops, pants, bathing suits, Sketcher shoes, Lucky underwear, I could go on. Their meat department is awesome as well as their fruits and vegetables. austnscrapaddict, I have a Sam's membership too as their store is less than a mile from the Costco I go to. I don't buy nearly as much there and don't find their produce as good as Costco. I did buy 3 bathing suits there this season and am happy with them. Compared to Costco, I usually find their store pretty empty. I'm sure it's busier later in the day and on weekends.

I wish you a great price for your vehicle. The dealership would have given us $6200. Either carmax or carvana would have given $5600 (i didnt bother with the other one because it required pictures and I wasnt near the car). This is just another fuck you from Kia after last year's debacle of them paying $12k to repair the car because in their minds, it would be priced at $14k at retail. I literally told them then that they could just give us $9k to go away and we'd be fine. Not being able to trade it in is just the icing on the cake and I will NEVER recommend Kia to anyone after all of this.

bc2ca, I hope that you win your appeal. Some rep at the insurance company must know a lot more than the doctor who puts hands on you and knows your story. ARGH! From my talk with the guy yesterday, I'm sure I will. He needs to confirm with my derm that I do indeed have psoriasis. They didn't question my other prescriptions from her or my PCP, so I'm confused why this one has been treated differently. It is also processed through a specialty pharmacy and not just sent into the local CVS. a company awards program that I've been told I should attend Fingers crossed that you and/or your team are getting some sort of recognition. I am going on a trip and need some spending money so I have been listing some unique fabric on-line and have so far sold $400.00 worth of stuff! I have more to list but it really is a pain to do so. Way to go. There is so much work that goes into listing anything for sale, I'm glad it has been worthwhile for you. In my mind I had set $4k as the lowest amt Id be happy with, so we are in that ballpark. I hope you get it, but sorry you couldn't do a straight trade in. I'm piddling around doing a little "in the corners" cleaning as our annual termite inspection is tomorrow. Then it is noon yoga, followed by a nice relaxing facial before meeting friends at a new to us pizza place. It is owned by one of my yoga buddies and I've been wanting to go for a while.

Happy Thursday! Today is a nice, leisurely day at home which is much needed after the crazy that was yesterday (never even made it to the thread)! But as a result of running all my errands yesterday, I don't have to leave the house for 2 days if I don't want to! This afternoon I'm working in my sewing room. Trying to finish up a few small projects and then going on my next UFO. Wondering if I can finish it by Monday night so I can count it towards the 1st quarter. And then there are those pesky income taxes. I need to get that completed by the end of the month, but sewing just sounds like so much more fun. I hate having to be a grown up sometimes. We are celebrating the dog's 13th birthday today. He had his annual vet visit Monday and no sign of cancer in either his lymph nodes or his blood work (he had a toe removed last August that was cancerous), so we are thankful for that. He also got his librella injection and is already feeling much better. She did give me an anti-inflammatory med for him for the days that the arthritis much worse. I am planning tenderloin tips, baked potatoes and fresh salad for dinner tonight. DD made it back yesterday from her convention and is planning to come by this evening.

dh and I went out on the beginner hill for an hour this morning.. it hadn't quite frozen overnight, but the grooming was good and we went in when it got soft.. about 6 people on the hill for 30 min.. our own private ski hill!!!
then came back, watched on tv most the 1st run of the men's slalom race, then both the men's and women's second run of the race.. the GOAT, mikaela shiffrin, got her 101'st win of her career. there were a bunch of kids dressed up as dalmatians at the base (like the movie.. 101 dalmatians!!)
an american came in 4th or 5th on the men's side.. which is really really good. and he is young.
My dad owned a ski school, and when I was a kid, he had about 20 students.. 4 classes.. every saturday. when the powder snow fell.. the best snow ever, he would flip the classes and the expert class went first to learn how to ski in it.. and the beginning class would ski at noon or something. we would look over at the racing kids and sneer. (we weren't nice).. because we were out in the powder and they were running gates. mostly too.. my family didn't have the money to have a kid race or the energy or time. by teaching, my dad didn't have to buy tickets, got discounts on tickets for the family and discounts on gear. and he taught us all how to ski very fast. we had ski school races at the end of the season and the trophies were two cans with ski edge handles that he sprayed gold.all homemade. He had students who went on to compete in the first freestyle competitions..and make their careers in skiing. we watched races on tv and in movies.. but no one was itching to do that. our family had no competitive bones for any sport. no one played on a team.. except a brother for a year or two in little league. my dad learned a lot of his skiing from a book.
we are going out for dinner tonight. and dh is flying out in the morning to go to his college roommate's 80th birthday party in seattle area. just gone a couple of days. it was suppose to rain this afternoon, but it is bright and sunny.
I am going to try to clean this weekend. I'll see how much I actually do.

If I get motivated a Philly cheese steak type sandwich (onions and mushrooms. No peppers as they give me indigestion 😄). However I am working by myself tonight, so if things get busy it will be nothing for a while and just may end up being cheeses and crackers.
I have so enjoyed reading your updates on the races. I felt so bad for her after Killington and was so glad to see when she recovered and was able to compete again. What a great race to be there for. I am very jealous. 😄
ETA - even just seeing it on TV but close by. 😄

Cleaned all day then met dd1 for “blueberry’s US. Luke has named the babies blueberry & raspberry. Everything was good. He has a full head of spiky hair. Luke had none. @ jeremysgirl I planted cherry & San Marzano seeds too. My sister & I are going to try canning this summer. I’ll also buy some plants from the Amish by the lake. They have really good plants. Another guy sells moonflower plants. I want to get more of those this year. I’m really impatient for the warm weather. Did not make a dinner plan. We’ve been impatiently waiting for a pizza place to open up here from our old neighborhood. They said the beginning of march. So far no. bc2ca insurance is so annoying. ntsf I love hearing about your ski competition and getting the vip tix.

compeateropeator: I went to an evening thing and listened to a talk by Mikaela's trainer, manager and coach. it was sooooo cool. and then they showed a short film she has online. this episode talks all about her ptsd and getting back into it. they focused on the known and possible rather than anything else. she is such a hard hard worker. and she has really highlighted mental health for athletes. this racer (other than being the greatest of all time) was best known for blowing a race in bejing olympics and sitting on the side for 5-10 minutes --unheard of. just sitting. had a major injury this year she came back from.
what is really exciting is that the world cup may come back here in 2027, and 2029. now that there is a course and systems set up. and they had plenty of volunteers and buy in from local community.
