Specialty paper… acetate, vellum, corrugated, etc. Do you like/use it? I like them but it can be hard for me to actually use them. Please share your examples if you want as well!

As a card maker, i think it's easier to use these sort of things, though I'm not a huge fan of shakers, so maybe I use acetate less than others. I did recently donate the stack of colored corrugated I'd been carrying for a decade or two....

I love vellum and acetate and use them often. I also still love the old shaped papers that were specialty. (shaped like large circles or labels or had a decorative edge)

I definitely have used them, and I need to get them out more. I'll have to go through my albums and pull out a couple layouts to photograph and post here.

I love to use vellum especially. I often make pockets with it, so that whatever goes in the pocket (some sort of memorabilia usually) shows through the vellum but is not super clear. I love pretty much all other kinds of specialty paper. In fact, I'm currently corralling it in my paper storage area and it's been lovely seeing some long-buried stuff again (hi, paper friends--I'd like to mangle and cut you all up very soon ). Let me try to find some specialty paper examples. I really do regard its function first usually. But if that's all I cared about, all I'd have is plain stuff, so...

OK, here's one of the ways I use the cool shaped specialty papers that were trendy some years ago. I tend to hoard these because I LOVE them, but as you can see, I do use them. Roam by Seanna., on Flickr Here's an example of vellum. I wanted to hide the journaling a little bit, so I made a little pocket and then used a hole punch to cut a notch in it (I think--I'd have to pull out the layout to confirm but I think that's what I did). I Passed by Seanna., on Flickr Here's another vellum pocket I created to be able to display a neat birthday card I received and incorporate it into the design. I used a hex punch to make the little tabs on either side, which I think hide the construction (glue or staples) of the pocket: Are you going to have a happy Birthday? by Seanna., on Flickr Another vellum pocket: Spirits of Parkridge by Seanna., on Flickr OK this one is also using vellum but it's not immediately obvious from the photo. I definitely wanted the background paper to show but it was so busy and cluttered that I decided to take a sheet of 12x12 blue vellum and lay it over the top of the busy paper, which supports the story of my naughty dog. Then the layout is really on top of the blue vellum. Real life with Jed by Seanna., on Flickr More vellum functionality: IMG_0504 by Seanna., on Flickr A favorite vellum pocket layout: no longer home by Seanna., on Flickr Acetate: Valentine Card by Seanna., on Flickr Terrible photo, specialty paper (I still have a small piece of this and I know exactly where it is ): please come to Nashville by Seanna., on Flickr Another one: Soar by Seanna., on Flickr Different specialty paper, same concept: Afraid to Look by Seanna., on Flickr

I occasionally use vellum. I also like to die cut letters from shiny or glittered paper. I love corrugated paper for die cutting, but it doesn't always come out with my Quickutz.

I love to use acetate & vellum on my project life, DD and cards. I've never used corrugated.
I never thought to use acetate on a layout. Not sure how to go about doing that.
wordfish, I love your layouts!

I like the way you've used the papers wordfish! The LOs are cute! I've mostly just used specialty paper in cards: vellum- but not too often woodgrain cardstock foil cardstock acetate

I used vellum when it was a thing. It fit my page style at the time. I have used it a few times on cards I have made but no longer on layouts or pocket pages.
I never liked corrugated paper.
I also never liked that fuzzy paper people used for test bears. Forgot the name. Tried it on a layout and hated it.
Acetate has been used in my DD albums as a fun way to make a page or tab. Don't use it on layouts.

Specialty paper… acetate, vellum, corrugated, etc. Do you like/use it? I like them but it can be hard for me to actually use them. Please share your examples if you want as well! I recently bought a few sheets of rice paper just to experiment with at some point, but I have yet to touch it. I would say of all specialty papers I use corrugated with the most ease. Vellum and acetate I pretty much never use for scrapbooking (I have used vellum on cards, but not in years.) I dislike full foil sheets, but do like regular papers with foil accents in some situations. And I dislike glittered papers of any sort--those that are completely glittered or those with accents. Back in the 90s I used to love mulberry paper for cards and the occasional scrapbook page embellishment, but again, despite still having some, I never use it now.

I exclusively scrapbook & like/use (occasionally) shaped patterned papers & vellum but never acetate (I don't create shakers), corrugated, rice, cork, foil, glitter, wood, mulberry, elephant dung, or even glossy/shiny-finished or accented papers.

I use vellum but no other specialty papers. I use vellum for layering, journaling, and die cutting. I try to remember to use it more often because I love how it looks on a layout.

I use vellum more than any other specialty paper, in both plain and patterned, but I'm not great at remembering to pull it out so I definitely go through phases where I'll use it often, then forget I own it again.
I don't mind either vellum or acetate, I'm not such a big fan of things like corrugated card. I've also got a stack of BG die cut pages that I really need to find a way to get onto pages.

I love specialty papers, especially now that the variety of texture in scrapbooking products has become so much more limited. But I am absolutely guilty of hoarding these things. In part because I don't like the idea of running out, but also because for me in Australia they are usually so expensive - speciality papers can be around $5 per sheet.
