Thank you to everyone who helped by just listening to me vent and work through that anger stage of grief.
She ended up deciding on hospice in my house, with our full support. Once those decisions were made it was much easier to focus on a peaceful passing and moving on to sadness but with acceptance.
Things progressed very quickly, much faster than anyone anticipated. We had many moments of laughter and some tears before she passed peacefully last night in her sleep. I had gotten her all ready for bed and she was having a bit of trouble breathing (oxygen demands had risen considerably from none two weeks ago to 5L, which is quite a jump) so I gave her some Ativan from her hospice med pack. DH and I tucked her in and she was nodding off, we told her get some sleep and she smiled. Last I checked she was sleeping. When SIL went to check on her this AM she was gone, no signs that there had been any distress.
I'm so grateful we all got a chance for her to feel the love we had for her and to pass away in a safe place, not scared or alone.
Also grateful for all of you for listening with supportive ears. ❤️🙏🏼❤️
PS if anyone wants an elderly Chihuahua with possible dementia who keeps pooping on my floors, just say the word.

I'm very sorry for your loss ... hopefully the poopy pup finds a loving home! Well, he's here for however long he decides to live, though he's not doing much to endear himself to anyone. I had to clip the poopy fur on his butt and he tried to bite me. He was banned from the groomer a long time ago. Lol he's a mess. |
