New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker has kicked off what is expected to be a marathon speech on the Senate floor to protest actions taken by President Donald Trump’s administration, saying that he will keep going “as long as I am physically able.” www.youtube.com/live/N5NfmuIzR84?si=9mn9hWb4D7GUGMv0

Love Cory Booker! I’ve had a lot of respect for him since seeing him talking with John Lewis on Finding Your Roots years ago.

It is truly lovely to see a Democratic senator do something other than send me fundraising emails and writing tone-deaf posts on social media.
I hope this inspires senators to start taking their leadership roles seriously. The last few months have been frustrating.

I listened to him for a few minutes before falling asleep last night. When I woke up this morning I saw he was still on. I thought it was a replay. I can't believe he's still going! This is awesome!

Hopefully other Democrats will take over and start doing something as well. Good on Booker!

Schumer needs to step down and let someone like Booker take the lead. Enough of this appeasement.

Sen Coons brought up Medicaid cuts and they talked NJ.. NY.. Then education..
I so wish they would have gone on past the northeast..
Should have talked about Education cuts..
Oklahoma ar the bottom of the list, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama.. show interest else where, no that they are listening.. but people have to SAY IT OUR LOUD!!

DH and I watched for a while both last night and this morning. What an endurance event!
We just happened to check in with one of our adult son's high school BFFs to coordinate visits when my son flies here and he called us back this morning saying he wasn't doing so well (this young man has had a very rough life, talk about Murphy's Law) and watching Cory Booker was the only thing giving him hope. Hurts my heart.
We need a passing of the torch in Democratic leadership.

Chuck S is not one of them. I accept that Democrats are limited by being outnumbered, but not by much in the house. There are so many people in Congress and special elections take place. It is the action of people like Cory Booker that get people ready to fight again. I am pleased that Amy Klobuchar is supporting him in this. I am also really happy that Tim Walz continues to take swings at Elon Musk. I am really hoping that Wisconsin elects a Democrat today, but as a Minnesotan I find Wisconsin exhausting. I don’t know what to expect from them anymore.

Schumer needs to put country first above his own needs and step down. Let a younger generation take the lead. Cory Booker is a profile in courage right now.

For the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful. Grateful to Senator Booker for reminding us that we are stronger together, and we cannot back down.

It's quite depressing.

And it had to be him. No one else brave enough. This is exhausting.

My friend's DIL works for him and the stories I have heard are very impressive. Forget issues for a moment - he's just a very nice person. We need folks like him in the presidency

He is the type of Black man white people find tolerable. Trust he is using all the spark afforded to him. If he got too angry…well

Right now is not the time to discuss it. Spark= trace of specified quality or intense feeling….and because you decide when is a good or bad time to discuss things. What word could be used to describe what he is doing? Not enough eh.

In some ways Booker is too nice. He needs to a bit of spark! For real? He's out there DOING SOMETHING, unlike 99% of elected Democrats and you're going to complain about a "spark?" How spunky do you feel after almost 24 hours on your feet, talking? Not to mention, as Olan pointed out, there are very real race issues at play. He gets mad, raises is voice AT ALL and he's a villain. If he spoke with anger like Hegseth, Fox News would be pulling out all the racist tropes of the angry Black man and the unconscious bias of many Americans (including many Democrats) would feel uncomfortable with him.

Wow. I just watched a little over the last hour and he is awesome snd so inspiring. We need more like him. I like how he called out the bipartisan work that had been done snd how he wants to work together. He is really smart. I just caught the end but for him to still be so bright after 25 hours on his feet. It is nice to see real leadership and someone to call things out for what they are. To just simply state right snd wrong. Bringing in information from both sides not just the left. Of course Schumer is still caving but maybe some others will have taken away a little bit from this and stand up for what’s right.
