Wow. I just watched a little over the last hour and he is awesome snd so inspiring. We need more like him. I like how he called out the bipartisan work that had been done snd how he wants to work together. He is really smart. I just caught the end but for him to still be so bright after 25 hours on his feet. It is nice to see real leadership and someone to call things out for what they are. To just simply state right snd wrong. Bringing in information from both sides not just the left. Of course Schumer is still caving but maybe some others will have taken away a little bit from this and stand up for what’s right. Yeah, I loved that..."It's not left or right, but right or wrong."

That’s where I groaned…we know damn well America will have a tough time doing the “right” thing. Always has. Even if it’s semi illegal to talk about it now.

Of course they will probably still gut Medicare tomorrow or soon. The bloodbath cuts today are going to really hurt our health over the next decade. Ironically they cut Alzheimer’s research, bird flu, measles, drug evaluation, tobacco regulation. Wow seeing the protest at the CDC and several VA offices.

I’ve been hoping Pete Buttigieg would run but I think this country wouldn’t elect him because he’s gay. (For the record - I think he’s fantastic and what he would bring to the White House is exactly what we need. But then again I’m a godless liberal and a radical Leftist 😛🙃😂)
I am so proud/impressed with Booker. That’s so impressive that he had the endurance but the fact he took a stand? Bravo.

I agree with you on Buttigieg. I think he would go a great job but I just don’t think he could win. I want to know more about Booker. He really impressed me. He got his point across and was respectful and even after talking for 25 hours still kept his wits about him. He seems like a good man and he stands up for his principles. I hope we see more stand outs in the coming months.

We do. During the national convention we could see that we have some really dynamic people in our party. Chuck S is not one of them. I accept that Democrats are limited by being outnumbered, but not by much in the house. There are so many people in Congress and special elections take place. It is the action of people like Cory Booker that get people ready to fight again. I am pleased that Amy Klobuchar is supporting him in this. I am also really happy that Tim Walz continues to take swings at Elon Musk. I am really hoping that Wisconsin elects a Democrat today, but as a Minnesotan I find Wisconsin exhausting. I don’t know what to expect from them anymore. As a Wisconsonite I find Wisconsin exhausting. I made sure to vote before coming into work today, but most of the people I work with are huge Trumpers. It's quite depressing. I’m really proud of your state today. You guys stood up to MAGA and made Elon Musk look foolish. You’ve given people a lot of hope. I quit watching the news and have hidden from a lot of political things knowing that eventually I’d feel ready to get back in the game. Wisconsin and Cory Booker make me want to engage again.

I'm proud of some of my state. My county? Still red. Not screaming dark red, but red. Corey Booker made me feel better, but around here, I fear it's still going to be right or left, not right or wrong.

My bladder & my feet are impressed. The standing & not peeing wouldn’t be possible for me for that long. Not sure if it helped at all but it was inspiring to me.

Yes, when we were discussing this at dinner last night, my teen mentioned that there would be breaks to use the bathroom, and I told them that there were no breaks at all. That he would get a break from speaking when he allowed questions, but even then he was still standing the entire time with no breaks at all. And my teenager was pretty amazed at that point. I just kept saying that podium or no podium, I never could have stood that long.

Booker has always been very deliberate about his health. there are some senators and representatives who are showing their chops--AOC, crockett from texas, murray from conneticut, goldman from CA...
we all must do our part too.

I thought I saw him say he fasted and dehydrated himself for a few days before hand? Amazing regardless!
(I was in a dance marathon as a young teenager and danced for 24 hours, but we got a one minute break per hour. And I was 15, not 55! 🤪😄)

I watched him for a couple hours late yesterday afternoon- at that point it had been 22-23 hours, maybe? and I was sooo impressed. The planning involved for the entire thing had to have taken such a long time... since they had to plan for which other Senators would ask him questions / speak to give him a break, and when, researching the different topics for the talking points, etc.
(And I had NOOO idea there wouldn't be any breaks to even pee- I kind of figured when the camera switched to the 'question asker' that he would have a chance to step behind a screen & pee in a bottle-- a la a long-haul truck driver, or something-- at the very least.)
and for whoever said they keep electing Lindsey Graham- he's not *OPENLY* gay. So that, I think, is the difference.
eta: as a kid, I did a "jump-rope-a-thon for heart" once... and we got to take a break for, like, an hour or more at a time. I didn't last very long even back then.

Im so disappointed that Buttigieg has decided not to run for Governor or Senate in 2026 I’m hopeful that’s an indicator he plans to run for president in 2028. I think he’d be an excellent president and maybe after another four years of Trump disasters, the voting public will decide competence and experience are what really matter most. One can hope.

Despite Tim Scott's marriage to what most consider a beard, I would argue that South Carolina keeps re-electing TWO gay senators. It's a mighty red state for us blue dots and damn, if those red folks aren't befuddling. They seem to "know not what they do" most of the time.
