Good morning.
teddyw, I read your post last night and I don't relate to not being ready to go into labor. I'm a preemie mom, but your dd's will have healthy, full term babies. How exciting. I can't wait to hear all about your new grandbabies.
leannec, I typed a response last night and I'm sorry that I couldn't be more helpful or reassuring. Though I wonder if whatever is going on might be related to your recent blood loss and hospitalization? Hernias can do weird things. I'm thinking the best for you.
Tearisci, how is everyone? How are you doing?
Today I'm going to get my new glasses adjusted and then I'm finishing ods's taxes. I showed him how to do them and we thought we'd finished, but I need one bit of info that I cannot access, so I told him that I'd finish it up for him this am.
Dinner is rechauffe beans frijoles for dh.
What are you up to today?
What's on your menu?
May today be a day of good news, happiness and calm.

Happy April Fools Day!
I've got a busy afternoon. Dog is getting groomed, I need to take some paperwork to my mom and change her sensor then pick up groceries.
I'm feeling very rundown today and I haven't been sleeping well. I may try to sneak in a bit of a nap at some point.
Dinner tonight will be easy - probably hot dogs and mac and cheese. I just don't have it in me to make anything elaborate!
Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning! I am worried now about leannec possibly having a hernia. Hopefully you will get some answers on your health soon. I'm a big mess today. I woke up again this morning with my entire face swollen. Eyes almost swollen shut. Lips huge. I took a bunch of Benadryl and my face is nearly back to normal. But Benadryl + depression is like I'm in slower motion today than I was yesterday. Which is frustrating. I've been sitting on the couch watching random cooking videos on youtube while I crochet. I'm waiting for the nap to hit me. Tonight I will make the beef and lentil lettuce wraps. Last night I just ate a bagel for dinner.

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling punky jeremysgirl. The swelling sounds so uncomfortable. I didn't come back to the thread last night so I didn't see leannec's post about the hernia. Hopefully, she'll get some answers soon.

jeremysgirl , I'm sorry that you're dealing w/this depression. It's like the downer party guest who won't leave. You're tired, you just want to get rest and enjoy life, but you have this annoying thing that makes you feel so bad. I truly hope that you are in much better spirits very soon. Do you know what's causing the allergy to your face? Could it be a med reaction? Take good, loving care of yourself today. ((((HUGS)))). Tearisci , you need rest, as well. You've been running on autopilot for so long. Take good, loving care of yourself, too. ((((HUGS)))).

I did see your post last night scrapmaven ! You were helpful ... it sounds like I have what you did ... yay. I look almost pregnant ... and I definitely am not!!! I'll let you know what the doctor says on Thursday ... can't wait to get the results from the x-rays and ultrasound done on my foot as well. I'm obviously not working today ... there was nothing but garbage jobs posted for my specialty ... I certainly wasn't going to teach Humanities (good) and Phys Ed (bad) ... or Humanities (good) and Health (bad) ... there was another that had Foods (bad) ... they give these teachers assignments of the monkey's lunch and it sucks. I am booked tomorrow in a high school so that will be good! I have no plans for the day because I assumed I would be working ... I'll figure something out ... research hernias maybe! It's also my birthday at the end of the month and the dd's are hounding me for ideas of what we should do ... so I'll come up with something fun! ** I am way more celebrated on my birthday, Mother's Day and Christmas now than I ever was when I was married ... ex was fine with us making a fuss about him but didn't like to make a fuss about me. Dinner tonight will be the butter chicken with rice and naan that I didn't make last night ... I hope it's good - the sauce comes from a jar but Emma says it's amazing!

I'm jumping in and grabbing your mouse, leannec. Do not go to Dr. Google. You'll read horror stories that don't apply to you. Hernias can range from "get this out right now" to "eh, just forget it exists". It could be other things, as well. My hernia was only a problem, because it was huge and painful. If you're bloating, as well that could be other stuff. I hate medical puzzles, but I hope that yours is solved on Thursday. I'm truly sorry that you have to deal w/this stuff. ((((HUGS)))).

I wonder what it is that you are so allergic to? Have you been to an allergist recently? I know where you are coming from when you say that depression puts you in slow motion ... if I didn't have someone to clean my house it would be a problem around here because my motivation is zero ... I think we all need a nap today!

Ugh, I have a sore throat and a slight fever. I need to get a Covid test kit just in case. If I have to cancel on going to the crop, I will be so disappointed. I'm hoping it's just bad allergies ~ I used to get these horrible throats every year around Memorial Day but haven't had them in years. jeremysgirl and Tearisci I'm sorry you're both not feeling well. leannec I hope the doctors get it all sorted on Thursday. Back in the 60's my dad had a double hernia operation and I always wondered what caused it. Dinner might be spaghetti and meatballs.

I had a complete allergy test in October. The only thing I reacted to is cats. I did Google and it says I can totally have this kind of reaction to cats. The allergist thinks that it could be one of my meds. My primary care doc thought it was my blood pressure med so she took me off of it. Clearly that is not it. But I haven't had a reaction since October. So this hit me out of the blue.
Thank you for all your concern. This was just like the last thing I needed right now. I feel like I should push through and do some work. But I have no get up and go.

I'm sorry you're also feeling bad cadoodlebug! Fingers crossed for no Covid. I'm going to take another test today but I really think I just need to rest and get some good sleep. leannec I have a hernia too and it is bulging out quite a bit. I have an appointment with the surgeon on the 16th so I'll be glad to get some guidance on what to do.

probably hot dogs and mac and cheese I hate to admit that I love hot dogs with mac and cheese. Even the blue box is fine with me. I do love a really good homemade M&C but DD is not available for takeout. My favorite thing to do with hot dogs, sauerkraut, and a can of Rotel and serve it over toast. DH couldn't stand for me to cook sauerkraut in the house as the smell lingered. I only cooked it when he was away on his yearly float trip weekend. A plus now is that I can make it anytime! I love sauerkraut! I woke up again this morning with my entire face swollen Yikes!! Any thought on what caused it? Your wraps sound really good. butter chicken with rice and naan Yum!! I love it. I always use the jarred sauce. And you can't beat the flavor. I have a cookbook that goes into a detailed homemade tikka masala. I haven't done that yet. What if I like it more than the easy jarred stuff? I hope you get some answers to your medical maladies. And start planning that BDay celebration! I'm hoping it's just bad allergies Fingers crossed that is all it is. Our pollen here is awful!! I take my car to the wash every day. Within an hour of being back to work or home, it it covered again. My eyes are scratchy but thankfully, that is all that has bothered me. Oh that meme!! I had my 6 month check-up with my PCP this morning. His office was backed up. My appt was at 9:15. I saw the doctor at 10:30 for all of 3 minutes. Back in my chair at my desk at 10:45. Thank goodness, I am one of those patients that nothing ever seems to have anything wrong. I just see him for my thyroid and BP meds. Oh and he refilled my Xanax script with no hesitation. Don't worry, it is the lowest dose and works for my anxiety. I am thinking tonight will be sweet potato and black bean tacos. I have some cabbage that needs to be used so a slaw on the side. I am working my way to having more empty shelf space in my fridge. Except meal prep containers or leftovers. I am following this lady on Tiktok and she is refusing to go to the grocery store(except for absolute necessities) until she uses up her frozen box of fresh herbs, all her half opened boxes of pastas, the veggie bin is empty, tinned fish is gone...you get the picture. I am going to try and see how long I can do this. I have a deep freezer full of unmatched up food items. It should lead to some very creative meals. I also have a pantry shelf in the garage full of dried beans, broths in boxes, nuts and such. I do need to get some canned tomatoes from Costco next time I am there. Hugs to those that need them. Best wishes to you all. Prayers and positive thoughts for those that need healing.

DH and I went out for breakfast this morning. He loves breakfast and although I donāt love it so much (it interferes with my fast), I go for him. We also stopped at WalMart and did a fairly significant grocery haul.
We are bracing for a nasty storm tomorrow - high winds, thunder, lightning and lots of rain. Iāll probably be under the bed with Walker for the day!
Supper will be ribs.

Happy April 1 dinner friends! My day started off with my co worker texting our team that she going on LOA starting on Friday and that I would be leading the team. She told me on a walk last week that she has a hernia, so I figured she is having it addressed. She is off today, she allowed us to speculate for a couple of hours before she April fooled us! She totally had me, I didn't even realize that it is April fools day!
Sending feel better wishes to everyone! With an extra dose of wishes for negative covid and other test results!
Today is a rare day of NO conference calls.I'm using it to dig into some spreadsheets that I have been avoiding. I had a productive day yesterday and hope the trend continues today. I should go get a new phone, but that is the dreaded task.
Dinner will be chicken and veggies again. :-)
wishing everyone an awesome day ahead!

You were helpful ... it sounds like I have what you did ... yay. I look almost pregnant ... and I definitely am not!!! I hope it is just a hernia, but highly recommend taking a daily photo, waist measurement and weight so you can show your doctor all changes, especially if you are increasing in size. Yikes, jeremysgirl , I'm glad the benadryl helped with the swelling but it definitely gives me a foggy, fuzzy head. I'm trying not to scream in frustration. My appeal for the Otezla was approved last week and the CS rep cheerfully told me to get my derm to send the Rx to CVS. Um, I didn't think this could be processed through CVS and don't you have the prescription? You know, the one that was denied? And doesn't it have to be sent to your specialty pharmacy? We went around in circles for a while before he put me on hold to investigate. Came back to confirm, yes they need a new Rx to be sent to their specialty pharmacy and gave me the name/number for the derm to submit. Passed this on to my derm. Then I looked up the specialty pharmacy associated with our insurance and they list a different name than the one the insurance CS gave me. Decided to see how it plays out. Get a message from my derm that Rx was resubmitted to a different specialty pharm (confused because I texted the name so it couldn't be mistranscribed from a voice msg). This morning I get a text from my original specialty pharm that they have been requested to forward the Rx to still another specialty pharm. I have no idea who/where/if my Rx will be filled and am ticking down to running out. Ugh I'm continuing with the office purge and happy to report I sent DD a few photos yesterday asking if she or any of her friends might want them before I donate and she came by to grab the letter board and a couple other things for a friend. I also exaggerated my table span, thinking I had three 6 foot tables and realized they are just under 5 feet each, so my total is 14 feet. They are set up in a U, so it doesn't look that big, but is going to be game changing for how I like to spread out to work on a bigger project. I'm also doing loads of bedding laundry. We have tons of extra from when my parents downsized that were perfect in the days when DD would take over the family room for sleepovers - turns out they are also perfect for when side effects of chemo meant lots of extra laundry loads. Hoping not to have those side effects this round, but I'll be pulling my favs off the bed just in case. Noon yoga will help with my mood. Dinner will be sheet pan sausages and vegetables (potatoes, cauliflower, butternut squash and broccoli). ETA It's my dad's 96th birthday. He is officially the oldest person ever in his family (he's done the genealogy back to the 17th century). One of his aunt's made it to 95 years 11 months.

Good evening all, I had a quiet day today. I had Togo to the grocery and managed to chose the time so as to coincide with a rain shower when I was halfway there. I spent the rest of the day planning a redo of my craft room and knitting. Iāve found a lot of really good documentaries on YouTube, so Iāve been watching them. Dinner tonight was white bean and sweet potato shakshuka - one of our favourites. jeremysgirl - I was going to ask if you had any idea what caused your swelling, but I see others have asked already, so Iāll just hope it settles quickly. leannec - I hope you get answers to what ever your problem is soon. It is scary when things happen and you have no idea whatās going on. karenlou -DH has a really good recipe for a Spanish lentil soup with chorizo, given to him by a Spanish colleague . Itās her grandmotherās recipe and really good. Iāll try to find it - not sure if itās actually written down - and post it tomorrow if I do. bc2ca - what a run around to get your medications! I canāt believe the hoops you have to jump through to get something that your doctor thinks is necessary!

big hugs for all dealing with health crap!!! I emailed my doc last night.. I was on one asthma maintenance drug.. pharmacy would no longer cover it. she prescribed a different one, they don't cover that one either and they sent a list of alternatives (this is over an 8 month period). on that list is the original drug I took and liked. so she sent in an rx for it. oh man.
dh is back and recovering. in the middle of writing a new description of his mother's house for the real estate ad. he is a good writer.
I'm doing laundry and putzing around this afternoon. partly cloudy day. got up early and went skiing.. it was cold but such great groomed snow!!! and since no one was out there, I skied 4 runs of untracked groomed snow. it snowed about 1 inch last night. 14,000 vertical feet, up to 40 mph and lots of fun. almost like your own private mountain. dh is taking his bike out tomorrow.
for dinner, may just do chicken spaghetti and salad again, as I have salad makings and chicken in the freezer. I am uninspired.

Good morning. Today is my day to wrap things up on my to-do list. I think I can do it!! I fly out Thursday morning. I never seem to be that excited about going on a trip. I am by nature a homebody. However, once I get to where I am going, I do enjoy being there. Today I noticed in the office fridge a can of Coke leaked. I mean it's not open but it's mostly empty. Weird. I wasn't planning on cleaning out the fridge but here we are. cadoodlebug sorry you are not feeling well. I will keep my fingers crossed that you still get to go to your crop. leannec and jeremysgirl sorry you are both under the weather. That really stinks. I think I am going to run out and get the mail and a yummy coffee and then get cracking on my list. Have a good day. Dinner tonight is shrimp and Caesar salad.

Sorry to hear of so many health concerns. Hope all the allergies, hernias and viruses are soon history and everyone is back to good health!
DSO had a car appt this morning so we ran errands while his car was in the shop. We are still getting used to weekday shopping and less crowded stores but Costco had no carts inside š³
Today is the closing for my momās house and of course the top up of oil and propane did not go as scheduled so Iāve been dealing with all that this afternoon so we can close. Just once Iād like to sell a house with a smooth closing day lol.
We will be having a food box meal tonight, burritos or tacos.

I'm a bit bummed. Due to the weather predicted here for the next few days, I have decided to run to the Rock to hit up Costco, Aldi and maybe Sam's. So I will NOT be having the sweet potato tacos. It will be something takeaway. There is a veggie sandwich that I like from a place I hate to give money to but it is good. I always got it when picking up a sandwich for DH. Could I make it at home? Definitely but I don't know what bread it is that they use. It is a soft nutty wheat bread. So I am thinking I may make the taco filling stuff tonight when I get home and then it will be lunch tomorrow.

Just once Iād like to sell a house with a smooth closing day lol. My favorite story is a house that DH sold to a young woman. It was FHA and they are VERY strict about everything. At the last moment an inspector wouldn't let docs be drawn until some tile in the dining that was missing/cracked be fixed. DH headed to Home Depot and repaired the tiles so it could close on time. I just tested and so far the Covid test is negative. I will test again tomorrow.

There are lots of posts I want to respond to, but Iām at chemo and itās hard for me to keep track of everything on my phone. Will try to post again once I get home. Hoping everyone who doesnāt feel well improves quickly. cadoodlebug, I hope you donāt miss your crop!! Your meme is way too funny. I think Iāll share it. I too have a large hernia, a gift from my colon cancer surgery in 2023. Iām 71 and I look pregnant! Itās not causing any internal problems and doesnāt hurt, so the surgeon doesnāt want to operate on it, and honestly, at this point, Iām not eager to have any unneeded surgeries. So I live with looking pregnant. *sigh* Dinner will probably be takeout, or else I will just root around in the fridge. Thereās chicken. And tamales. And all the usual stuff.

DH has an umbilical hernia which is unsightly! It totally looks like his guts are coming out his belly button. No one seems concerned about it as long as he can push it back in. WHAT??!! He does wear a hernia belt when heās working out at the Y but other than that, he carries on as per normal.
