DH and I went out for breakfast this morning. He loves breakfast and although I don’t love it so much (it interferes with my fast), I go for him. We also stopped at WalMart and did a fairly significant grocery haul. We are bracing for a nasty storm tomorrow - high winds, thunder, lightning and lots of rain. I’ll probably be under the bed with Walker for the day! Supper will be ribs. That nastiness is headed this way too. I love breakfast. we have a new restaurant that opened here that I can’t wait to try. sounds like a few of us have hernias. I saw a surgeon for mine and she told me they don’t touch them anymore unless they interfere with whatever and become painful. She said if you all of a sudden throw up and have diarrhea and pain to get to the emergency room. so I still have mine and it’s pretty ugly That's crazy. I totally didn't realize it wasn't something they'd need to operate on.

NO! no! no!! I decided to stay home since I didn't sleep well last night. So back to original plan of tacos. Except I am mid recipe and reach for my can of black beans. They are not there. I guess I've used them and didn't get more. I have dried ones but no time to make in IP. So I'm subbing pinto beans. Just won't be the same.

My beef and lentil wraps were so delicious. I took extra care to ensure that the sauce wasn't spicy because I know how Jeremy feels about spicy food. And then I added chopped carrots, green onions and chopped cilantro. I made a smoky tahini sauce to drizzle on top and again made it so it wasn't hot to accommodate Jeremy's taste.
He went into the kitchen put the meat in the lettuce and threw cheese on top! None of the other toppings. I know I'm in a foul mood because I wanted to choke him. I even made a comment about how this was Asian food/flavored not a taco! And that I kept all the sauces not spicy because of him and that he didn't even try it. He sat there and ate his lettuce wrap as is. And then went to make a second one without cheese. Because guess who was right that cheese didn't belong on it? 🙄
Most of the time I just let him go with his bad self. But today I'm just not feeling well and I could not keep my mouth shut. 😂

My mom hosted a card making class in her rehab today and has been so busy! She's really fitting in well and I think she'll do well long-term.

I usually do but tonight I was winging it. And yes, the pintos will be good but the black would have made a prettier picture.

I made Butter Chicken tonight! Yes, the sauce is from Costco and in a jar but it's yummy! Bought some mini garlic naan and served it with rice and cilantro (love cilantro)! Chances are, my Indian "friend" would not like it much because it's so mild!

Went to the lake to paint some newly installed trim. Dh said he had the paint there. I didn’t read the can but when I was almost done I thought this doesn’t look right. Because the paint was flat. If I’d read it when I got there I could have gone and bought the right kind. Now I’ll have to make a return trip. It’s mostly wooded so I don’t like staying there alone. Came home & had charcuterie. I was going to make a lemon basil pasta with shrimp but didn’t feel like it. I used the shrimp in the charcuterie because I don’t eat smoked meats really. So many hernias here. taylortroop they consider your dh’s reducible - he can push it back in easily so they usually just watch. I’ve seen some unbelievable ones at work. It’s amazing what some people will let go. I hope everyone who’s negative stays that way too. jeremysgirl are you taking a class 2 antihistamine like Zyrtec,Allegra or zyzal? My body hates Benadryl. Dh is still coughing from his not flu strep or Covid illness 2 months ago. Only after 5 pm and is having nighttime fevers. His Dr is sending him to an allergist which seems weird with fevers. No one will order a chest X-ray still. Dd2 made today her last day before baby. Her boss donated some of his sick days for her to use. Everyday for the last few weeks students have brought baby gifts in. It’s like Christmas everyday. The parents are so generous. She was not expecting it. She has thrown class baby showers for students in the past. None this year. Happy Birthday to your dad bc2ca. How lucky to have him that long.

teddyw my doctor prescribed Zyrtec. But I took it and it dragged me into depression. I still have it in my medicine cabinet and can take it tonight if you think it would help me. But is there another allergy med I can get over the counter that won't kill my mood?

Ladies, this was dinner tonight! It was so good! Sweet potato and black bean tacos. Except I didn't have the black beans I thought I had so I subbed pinto beans. And jeremysgirl was correct, they were fine. I have plenty left over and will make a bowl tomorrow.

naby64 , your tacos look fabulous. And that is coming from a happy meat eater (but veggie lover, too). leannec , your butter chicken looks fantastic, too. Any chance you can post a pic of the jar? I want to see if my USA Costco has the same stuff. jeremysgirl , I’m sorry Jeremy disappointed you re: dinner tonight. 😜 ETA that looks really good! Bad Jeremy! I am already four slices into my take & bake pizza. SMALL slices. Think I will quit now before I get in any deeper. (veggie pizza plus pepperoni)

Here you go naby64 jenneatsgoood.com/sauteed-beef-and-lentil-lettuce-wraps/I added an extra teaspoon of ginger and garlic to the meat lentil sauce. I also reduced the salt, use soy sauce instead of coconut aminos, only used 1/2T Sriracha and sesame oil and doubled the maple syrup. I did not use any red pepper flakes. Basically I have learned that Jenn likes way more sesame oil than I do. And also she likes her food spicier than Jeremy is willing to tolerate. I just kept tasting until it tasted right to me. I doubled the sriracha in the tahini sauce and added a teaspoon of smoked paprika too. Same as above, I kept tasting until it hit right.

jeremysgirl it seems like the class 2 antihistamines can cause depression and or anxiety unfortunately. I’d call your allergist and ask about an alternative.

cadoodlebug , I'm really hoping that you are fine to go to the crop on Thursday. You're looking fwd to it and I truly hope that you can go. I'll think healthy thoughts. I have to say that all this talk about hernias is creeping me out. I have a very weird stomach from all the surgeries, but the hernia repair looks very odd. It's good to know that it doesn't necessarily mean surgical belly. I was told that if I had serious symptoms then it would have to be removed asap. In my case, they removed it, because it was causing some pain and problems in my abdomen. I have to be very careful, because I have an internal abdominal device that has delicate wires. May everyone's hernia be a non-surgical issue and may you feel good. jeremysgirl , you deserve peace and happiness in your life. I'm always here to listen. May this depression lift and may your happiness return. bc2ca , Happy Birthday to your dad. I hope he's celebrating himself. We have some very yummy looking meals on the thread, today. I could post my crackers. BAHAHAHAHAHA!

Thank you, leannec. I can tell it’s not American because when our labels are bilingual, it’s English/Spanish or English/Asian-language-of-choice. 😆 (At least in California. Until “someone” tells us that’s racist and we can’t do it anymore.)

If it gets really hard, etc. that’s when they’ll take it out or fix it. For some people it might cause some issues, but normally they leave it alone. When I had pancreatitis and had a couple of CT scans etc. I jokingly said well when you take my gallbladder out, can you fix that? He looked at me and said no we don’t fix them anymore because they usually just come back. That surgeon also said that he could tell by looking at the CT that it was not, I think he use the word wrapped around anything. It’s ugly that’s for sure

Last night I had a smash burger and then I kind of fried, but not really cause I don’t fry in oil, etc., small soft Burrito things. Put some cheese on it, dill Pickles and pickle flavored ketchup. And then I hand cut my own french fries tossed them in the air fryer. I don’t think you’d want to see that on a plate. It’s kind of boring.
