Trips. I would take a year off of work and travel for a few weeks, then come home a few weeks and travel someplace else, rinse and repeat.

Remodel the house. But does that qualify as something just for me, because the SO would benefit too. A new car. First class tickets to everywhere I fly. A person who does the housework, is an assistant and a handyman. Sort of like Alice on the Brady Bunch. Doesn’t have to come everyday, but when they do, they stay for several hours.

Assuming I'm paying taxes that's about 600k? And, I have to spend it? Blimey, that never occurred to me. Winnings are tax free here. Lmao- nothing is free here my dear 🙃

If I won, I wouldn't tell anyone. Same. Unfortunately winners' names are not kept private in my state. I don't play the lottery, but if I did wish to do so, I'd definitely want to buy a ticket in a state that allows me to keep my winning from becoming public knowledge.

You can claim anonymity here too. Nearly half of it gone in tax and the win is public?? Heck no!

Fix up my house (fence, gutters, new garage door), new cars (all of ours are 20+ years old) and travel to Europe with someone who speaks all the languages.

I would buy myself a Tiffany Platinum Aquamarine and Diamond Ring.

Well that's no fun, one million wouldn't even buy me a new house in my own neighbourhood, let alone a new house in a beachside suburb where DSO and I want to move to. Can't you let me daydream about winning a much bigger jackpot gillyp ? But if it is 'only' one million, then I guess I will renovate my own home. We did the kitchen and bathrooms about 8 years ago, so they don't need to be redone yet. I would put in lovely big French doors leading to our backyard, instead of the crappy little sliding door that doesn't slide very well. I would also replace all the windows with double glazed glass and aluminium frames. And I would put in a pool. Then DSO and I would take the kids and their partners on an overseas holiday, first class of course. We didn't get to take the kids overseas when they were younger. I'd also pay for a first class trip with the two other couples we travel with.

I'd bring home about half the jackpot amount after taxes. So let's say I'd wind up with about $500,000... I'd pay off my house & car. Build a garage and do some home improvement projects. I'd probably put in a spa. Or I could just buy a new house. It's fun to dream.

I have a friend who has taken each of her grandkids on a trip to do 3 things (100% their choice) during the years of their 10th, 16th and 21st years. It has ranged from the Great Barrier Reef and visiting a volcano and a luau, to Disney, Epcot and alligators depending on the kid. I think that's the coolest thing- ever! My first grandchild will be born this year, and I would love to be able to start a similar tradition. With that kind of money put aside for travel, I could. I could also expand a version of it to my niece and nephew. I love that idea! My oldest grandchild will be turning five soon so it’ll be a few years before I can really do that with them. But I might need to win the lottery more than once. By the end of this year, I’ll have two more grandchildren for a total of five so far. And there are almost certainly more to come!

It sounds like you already won the lottery! Congratulations! I’m beyond excited for my first!
