Good Morning.
Today I am going to start with gratitude, again. I'm grateful that I had a nice spring break w/ods. We had a good time and it's always fun to hang out w/him. What are you grateful for today?
How are my pea friends doing?
I'm very tired after a busy week. So, I think that knitting and resting is going to be priority. Dh has rechauffe fried rice for dinner.
What are you up to today?
What's on your menu?
Oh, I'm also grateful that I'm just a little over 24 hours away from getting the almost constantly DINGING refrigerator out of my house. ARGH!
The weekend we all deserve to relax and truly have fun. May it be restorative and good for all.

Happy Friday (finally!)
I have a pretty chill day today, thankfully. My mom is moving into her new permanent room in the residence wing so I'm hoping that it goes smoothly. She was pretty confused about it yesterday but I'm going to go have lunch with her and help her get settled.
I don't really have dinner plans yet so we'll see how the day goes. I have nothing going on this weekend except for my cleaners tomorrow and a massage.
Hope you all have a great day!

I'm grateful that my case of Covid only lasted a week and wasn't serious enough to be overly concerned about. I'm grateful that the sun is shining and I'll be headed to AquaFit in a little while. And I'm grateful for the friendships that have formed on this thread. I just marinated a Tri-Tip roast that will be dinner. TGIF dinner friends. Big hugs to those in need. This made me laugh!

Tearisci, I hope that your mom's move goes smoothly and that this enables her to feel settled and to be able to enjoy activities and daily life. If you add hot stones to that massage I promise you won't be unhappy. cadoodlebug, I'm very grateful that covid was not a bigger issue for you. Enjoy Aquafit today. destined2bmom, I really miss you on the thread, but haven't called you out until today. If you're up to it, please say "hi" and let us know how you're doing.

DS wants to make lasagna and who am I to argue? Today I’m grateful that I have this man in my house who likes to cook! And he uses garlic liberally 😊 scrappintoee I saw your post before you deleted it the other night. I hope you’re feeling better and reaching out for help. I remember very fondly how you enjoyed my posts about Dick and his silliness. 🩷

Hey all - and thanks for the kind words lucyg - I'm doing okay. I have really tried to aggressively manage how ALL social media is impacting my mental health through these challenging times. I am doing a lot of concentrating on local and trying to make a positive difference to those around me. We're going out to dinner tonight - it's a beautiful spring day, so we're going to enjoy a local place with a great patio. Have a good start to the weekend everyone!

it is cloudy and warm and dh just wasnt' feeling it to go skiing. not a problem for me. it is still grey out.
we are going out for dinner again and then to a music experience. not sure what it will be like. the musician works at our friend's health food store so we know him from there. going as being supportive friends. but we will see.
we are going to a small town in montana for a concert saturday night. about a 5 hour road trip one way. stay overnight then back. Next week, the mountain will be open only on one side.. and unless they open the lower lift, dh is done for the season. I will see. next week will be cleaning, getting organized and getting ready to leave for the season.
hope you all continue to get better, parents get stabilized, etc.

Good evening all, It’s nearly 6:30 and I am just home from my afternoon coffee meet up. We met just after 2 and planned for two hours, but time got away as it does when you’re sitting in the sun outside a French style bakery, drinking coffee, eating yummy pastries and chatting to fun people. It was a smaller group than our last meet up, probably due to short notice, but one person was new and we seem to have clicked and made tentative plans to meet up for one of the special markets at the end of the month.
Another bit of good today - I had a call from one of the organisers of our school vacation program next week, to check that I had given all the info for my timesheets this year so far - I need to use a new form to record and send in to be paid - and she told me that I will be paid €10/hour MORE for this than my regular hourly rate! It means I will bring in €600 for the four days - that’s gonna buy a lot of Easter eggs! Seriously, it will pay for a few fun things like wine tastings and private tours when we go to Lisbon in May.
Dinner tonight is simple - I dropped into the supermarket on the way home. We have little potatoes, white asparagus and salmon. Also hollandaise sauce, because it is a sin to eat white asparagus without it in Bavaria.

So I'm just dropping in to say I've had a helluva week. Emotionally it's been hard, physically it's been hard. Paperwork has been hard. I was on my way to have dinner last night with my brother and my car died. It was towed to our mechanic. I told him about DH's car most likely having a bad battery. He stopped by the house this morning and took care of that. Yay! I'm not stranded. Told him about DH's passing. We caught up a bit about his life and all going on. Seems my DH would stop by his shop and talk. When he was working and drinking on the job. Yeah, story for another day. At one point, he told this guy that I was cheating on him. He assured my DH I wasn't. (and for the record, I did not) If there were problems in the marriage, it was due to him and his demons. So, my week ended on a bang.
I'll go into the office in a bit since I now have a sub vehicle to finish up some things for a Sunday meeting. I'm then going to go grab a couple of things from the store and have a fabulous dinner. Of what, I have no idea. I have some frozen scallops and may take them out, wrap some bacon around them and a veggie.
Well, that was enough of a bomb to drop. I've got things to do and people to yell at.

Got my mom unpacked in her new room but guess what we couldn't find that she claims she packed: Her loaner hearing aids Why she wasn't wearing them, I don't know but she was going through things again to double check. This is what happens when someone with dementia packs.

sueg your day sounds so fun. naby64 big hugs. Boo to car trouble. cadoodlebug do you feel extra tired after aquafit having just recovered? KelleeM I’d be happy about that lasagna too. I’m grateful to be sitting under a heating pad with my freshly groomed dog next to me. Also I got new soil & pots to start some of my dahlia tubers in the house. So far I’ve made guacamole. We have to eat before we go see Juliet because all my kids will be there and they’re having Indian. Dh & I are not fans.

Happy Friday to all and have a wonderful weekend! I cleaned my house and I am going to start a new book soon. Saying prayers and sending good thoughts to all! I do have some good news to share my daughter had her follow up appointment with her doctor and they tested her again and she passed all her test, the baby is at the right weight and doing really well, they think she failed her test last time due to what she had drank and eaten. They are going to let her go to term as long as she continues doing well. Prayers were answered! We are having pizza from our local pub we love.

cadoodlebug do you feel extra tired after aquafit having just recovered? I don't right now but that doesn't mean a short nap isn't in the works for this afternoon. My routine has gotten to where I eat my afternoon snack while reading then set my phone timer for 15-20 minutes and doze off. This morning in the pool before class, a woman was telling me she's had Covid 3 times: The first time it affected her heart and she had to get a pacemaker. The second time she got COPD. The third time she lost hearing in her left ear. I feel blessed that my two bouts haven't really affected me.

Happy Friday Dinner friends! I have so many things to be grateful for, today I'll go with the spring day our health to be able to work in the yard with DH. We've mowed, pulled the dead annuals out and spruced up the landscaping, I usually plant annuals much earlier than this, but the last few summers have been so hot and dry that I can't seem to bring myself to take on the task of planting plants that will need constant daily attention all summer. I think I'll plant some in the pots at the front door, a couple of basil on the patio and call it done. The weekend is a bit of an unknown, DGS has another baseball game tomorrow morning, DH has a lot of paperwork and I want to play with my new sewing machine. I prewashed two loads of juvenile fabric that I've accumulated for pillow cases to donate to Charity, These are going to be my practice on the new machine. I also want to take my regular sewing machine for it's spa treatment while I'm out of town, I'll pack her away- A co worker calls it my Bentley of sewing machines- She was the top of the line when she came out, but now other brands have come out with bigger and better, so she's more like a BMW or Volvo now. Dinner will be the Chicken enchilada's I've put off all week, it's my first evening to cook. Sending hugs and prayers for all than need them and peaceful wishes for all others!

I took my mom into the city this morning to get a few Easter treats for the grandboys. She also had a gift card to spend but couldn’t find anything that she liked or wanted. We got a few groceries and headed home. So far, not having a car hasn’t been an issue. The sun is shining today but there is a very cold wind. I will walk inside on the treadmill. Supper will be chicken fajitas. Tearisci: My hearing aids are either in my ears or in the charging station at night being charged. I sure hope you find the loaners. Does your mom not like wearing them?

Dinner tonight will be out at a favorite burger place....I have a GC I got for Christmas.....DH is on his own, as THE GC will only cover my meal.🤣🤣🤣 The daily Gratitude journaling prompt for today is "your favorite memory" For me it would be Christmases growing up. Christmas was Mom's favorite holiday, and she went ALL OUT decorating every surface in the house. Also, I was one of seven children and Christmas morning was a sight to behold, my parents spared no expense making sure we got most of what we asked for!!!!

I'm not sure why she wasn't wearing them. We got them specifically for her until her hearing aid appointment on Tuesday. The bummer is that they cost $600 to replace and this is the second time she's lost them. Sometimes, her dementia gets the better of her.

karenlou , what wonderful memories. My mother went all out on Christmas/Chanukkah and birthdays. We were made to feel so special. naby64 , complicated grief is hard, because there's love, loneliness and resentment. It's fine to be angry at your dh and to express your feelings to those who support you. He did some really bad stuff and drinking doesn't exonerate him. He was also your husband and your partner. It must be very difficult to process all of the feelings that are coming up for you. ((((HUGS)))). austnscrapaddict , have fun w/your new sewing machine. Play play play! hutchfan , that's very good news. I'm wishing you the healthiest grandbaby. cadoodlebug , I wonder if that woman had other health issues that precipitated the heart and lung issues? teddyw , have fun cuddling w/little Juliet. I just love her name so much.
Tearisci, have you scoured your mother's old room and gone through all of her pockets? Hopefully, it'll turn up, again.
taylortroop, It's good to hear that both you and your mother are doing well w/o her having a car.

Hi all. Just trying to make it through the day. Today is the five year anniversary of my wonderful nephew and his wife’s first child being born and then passing away within a half an hour of his birth. It was a horrible day. The hardest part was going to tell my mom because my dad had just died four months earlier. I hated 2020 I’m sure many of us did. But we had four major losses within our family that year and none due to Covid.
I am grateful that my nephew and his wife have two beautiful little girls and are expecting another baby in September.
I’m also grateful that I decided to go back to some card making classes. My mom and I are headed out for a Lenten meal. I’ll probably have a fish fry and she’s been dying for creamed cod over a baked potato, so that’s what she’ll have.

Today was Tractor Day at our local high school. We live in a very small town and the majority of the kids who attend the high school live in the country. One day a year they drive their tractors to school and then have a parade down Main Street. There were probably 50 tractors parked in the school parking lot this morning. It’s pretty cool to see.

Dinner is Panda Express. I’m already eating it now (4:00 pm). Didn’t sleep at all last night and I have to get up at 5:00 am* for a trip to the Le Creuset factory outlet sale or something along those lines. I’m planning to be in bed as soon as it starts getting dark. *oops, that just got changed to 4:30 am To this day, I’ve never had COVID or at least have never been suspiciously symptomatic or tested positive. Everyone else in my family has had it 2-3 times (none life-threatening or anything) including my mother. I moved in with her for 4 days last time she had it and there is no way I wasn’t heavily exposed. Still NOPE. I really think I’m immune. KelleeM, now I want lasagna!! Darcy Collins, glad you’re doing well and taking care of yourself. Social media can be a killer these days. naby64, sending hugs. Always. hutchfan, I’m so happy to hear your DD’s great news. Hugs to you too, christine58. I’m sorry for your family’s heartache.

Today I am going to start with gratitude, again. What are you grateful for today? I love this approach. Today I am grateful that it's Saturday, and I can relax after a very busy work week. And even though we are now halfway to winter (boo!), and daylight savings finished last weekend (boo!), it is going to be 31C (88F) today and tomorrow. I might just get one more swim in before the cold weather hits. Dinner was takeaway Fish & Chips. I woke in the middle of the night feeling really sick, and swore to myself that I was going to start eating so much healthier, and not have fish & chips again for a very long time. This morning I feel fine, and I'm thinking of having the leftover F&C for lunch.

christine58----(( Hugs )) I remember when your nephew died so soon after you'd just lost your Dad. hutchfan----Such great news for your daughter and baby! KelleeM---Hee hee....I remember giggling over Dick's "Chinese Pie" and refusal to use garlic! naby64---- So many (( hugs ))! So glad your friend helped with your car, though. You have had SO much to deal with since your DH died (house maintenance, car, finances, lawn, your job, your doggies, not to mention all your emotions). I wish you could go an a relaxing vacation !!!! AussieMeg--- I would LOVE to switch seasons with you!!!! I hate summer with the heat of a billion suns. I LOVE winter and fall !!! Being outside in chilly / even very cold weather invigorates me. lucyg----I am SO curious why on earth you'd have to be awake by 4:30 am for ANY sale? . I realize Le Crueset is very high quality and gorgeous colors, and I'd guess y'all had a long drive to get there?
