Our area is getting three new Daiso stores and the first one just opened up. My DD has been begging me to take her and I think it could be fun! The website doesn’t really show what they have. What should we look for? Hit me with your favorite things from there!

They have great storage options in sizes smaller than what’s typical in a Walmart or Target. Like IKEA, they seem to cater to smaller-sized homes and apartments. They remind me more of a Dollar Store though. I really enjoy browsing through their aisles. Have fun 😊.

The ones near me have had lots of Japanese cartoon character toys/stuffed animals recently. They carry all kinds of stuff ... pet supplies, gardening things, products to clean kitchens and bathrooms. Lots of stationary, craft supplies, and beauty products. They have the plastic containers, but they also carry ceramic, wood and metal kitchen utensils/dishes/supplies. They also have Japanese candies, cookies, and drinks.
My recent purchases have included a cutter to chop up boxes. Works pretty well. Also bought some Japanese rice paper for art projects. And of course some containers.
Oh, they also carry a grid system for the wall. Different sizes of grids and the supplies to attach them to the wall.

I am so excited we are getting one too. It will be about 2 miles from our house. Three have opened in CO so far. DH said the one in Centennial is the flagship. I am traveling next week, but when I get home I want to go check it out.

Now I'm intrigued... there is a Daiso in my local shopping centre, but I've never bothered to go in there. It sounds like I need to check it out!

I love our Daiso stores. We have 3 I think, and all of them have different things. One is very kitchen heavy, another is storage heavy. One is very seasonal heavy. I love all the kitchen stuff. And they have some really cute pet stuff too. They have a cat tail looking toy my boy cat really loves. Don't sleep on the snack stuff. There are some fun items there as well.

Great store!
I went a couple months ago. I got mesh cosmetic type bags, a thin zippered wallet - money and card holders, drawer compartment dividers, mini spatula.
They have so organizing stuff.
Bring your own bag, if you don't want to pay for a bag.

Interesting. I went to one near me thinking I would love it and I couldn’t find I single thing worth having (for me). Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood or hit a bad time and will try again another time!

From what I’ve seen in local discussion about our new Colorado stores is that they stock different things, depending on the community they are located in. The store in Aurora, CO is reported to have more practical goods. While the Centennial store apparently has more kawaii and pop culture influenced, snacks, “fun” items.
So people could have entirely different experiences.

I loved the one in Singapore from 20 years ago. I picked up some punches that I still have and still use regularly, although the leaf one is coming to the end of its useful life. I also still have storage containers for little craft pieces, like pill boxes. I enjoyed trying out the Asian snacks.
I realise this is ancient and not really relevant to you, but I jumped when I saw the name. I would be interested to know if they still stock craft items.

We have one coming in by us and DD is very excited. She collects things like Labubu and Sonny Angel babies, so she’s hoping to find something there.

I'm planning to visit our new store soon. I'm hoping to score washi paper/stickers/tape for art and junk journaling.
I'll check out the snacks, too. My grandson likes trying out new things.

It's been a while since I've gone but mine has a no returns policy and a minimum for credit card charges. For me that makes buying organization items challenging. I will occasionally buy office supplies and random small items.

I will occasionally buy office supplies and random small items. They accept credit cards with no minimum charge now. They even accept Apple Pay. When they first opened out here they only took debit cards. There is still a no-return policy. So I check everything carefully before I buy it. They are basically a 100-yen ($1) store in Japan. When the first one opened here, I think everything (with exceptions) was $1.25. Now the base price is $1.75. They do carry more expensive stuff now. Even with the strong dollar vs the yen, prices in the US didn’t come down. I was wondering if they would. 🤣

Daiso is the Japanese version of a dollar store and in Japan that's exactly what it is. I love the hair accessories. My sil goes to Daiso in Japan and finds the cutest hair stuff. I can find it here, as well, though not as interesting. You can find washi and cute embellishments and lots of orangizational stuff. There's an 11 story Daiso in tokyo. The more ya know... katlady, I realize that I basically repeated your post. Have you been to the 100 Yen stores? Sil said they're loads fun.

Daiso sells a line of storage containers that are almost identical to Spellbinder' Craft Stax or Scrapbook dot com's Stack-N-Sort trays. They also sell melamine sponges similar to Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser.

Diaso has a good selection of kitchen gadgets and housewares. I loved their reusable rubber gloves cause they last a long time, but they seemed to stop selling them -- I only see disposable gloves now. I like their gardening section too.
I often find things that I didn't know I needed.
I wonder if prices will go up because of tariffs.

I have a tiny counter top broom and dust pan from there that I use every single day. It is my top five favorite household items. Great for crumbs!

So we went last night and the place was PACKED. Wall to wall people, lots of empty racks and shelves already, they opened on the 12th so I wasn’t surprised by that.
They had a lot of cute food packaging which was fun for me. I was sad that the sticker and stationary areas were pretty well picked clean, as was the Hello Kitty stuff that DD would have liked. She did find a Cinnamoroll rice mold and a nori mold that she bought and also was excited to find the circular (actually more square IRL) skirt hanger she was specifically looking for. There were more craft things than I expected them to have, and for a variety of crafts too including wool felting, paper crafts, paints, washi tape. They had a nice selection of items for gift wrapping which was fun. Lots of kitchen things and storage items. DD was intrigued by the food and snacks, she likes that kind of thing. It was hard to shop with so many people in the store.
This first store was about a half hour away from me so I don’t know that we will go all the way back over there since the other two that are opening this summer will be much closer. It was fun and we’ll definitely go to the closer ones once they open.

Ooooh, the one off of University in Denver is about 15 miles from my son's house. Perfect. Would love to at least see one. Not sure what I need.

We recently got a new store about two miles from my house. I’ve gotten some reusable shopping bags that roll up small and I can easily carry in my purse for unexpected purchases. My store also has tons of different laundry bags to wash delicates in, and I get a lot of use out of those as well.

My store also has tons of different laundry bags to wash delicates in, and I get a lot of use out of those as well. I have a nylon bag that rolls up that I keep in my purse for unplanned Aldi stops and I was glad I had it handy because Daiso charges 20¢ for a paper shopping bag. When I was in the store I saw what I thought was a reusable shopping bag for sale that was wadded up small inside a pouch. There was a whole aisle full of laundry stuff and my 14 yo kid was checking it all out. It was funny because she was looking at all the boring household stuff and I (the old lady) was looking for all the stickers and pens and fun stuff! 🤣 ETA: I’m kind of wishing that that Dollar Tree deals guy on YouTube would do videos on what to buy at Daiso this month!

Several years ago I saw an ad for 'mini' type, smaller then LEGO.. I chased them down and they were from DAISO. Had to buy a certain amount. Ordered and they arrived promptly. Good quality. 'Fireman type' collectors liked all the different fire and emergency vehicles, Army grandson liked his tanks and stuff. Got assorted others, including several different penguins.
Again good quality. I would like a store here on the East Coast!
ETA: got them for stocking stuffers.
