Good Morning.
We're supposed to go to our favorite nursery today to pick up some supplies. Then it's back to my closet cleaning and knitting. I made a big dent and have 2 big garbage bags ready to donate.
How is everyone doing today?
jeremysgirl, how are you doing? Did you start your new med?
What is everyone up to today?
Dh and ds had Chipotle last night. So, dh has half of his bowl for dinner. Easy peasy.
What's on your menu
Wishing everyone a happy, calm day!

Happy Thursday!
Just got off of the phone with my dad's doctor and they are going to keep him one more day. He's having these really vivid dreams and hallucinations and not able to really tell them apart. He's very emotional today and the doctor is recommending that he go on an anti-depressant so we'll talk to his doctor about that. They also think that this could be medication related so they are taking him off of certain ones to see if that makes a difference. I'll go down after my afternoon meeting and stay with him to get his dinner ordered before coming home.
Mom is doing fine. I saw her briefly yesterday to take her some clothes.
Thanks everyone for your good thoughts! I think dinner tonight will be homemade pizza if I make it to TJs to get some dough.

Tearisci, it sounds like your dad is in good hands. How are you doing overall? This is big stuff and beyond stressful.

I got a slow start this morning ~ I slept almost 9 hours! I'll run a few errands then putz around the house. DH has a dinner meeting at his golf club because they are drawing for match-play partners. I'll have Chinese Chicken Salad.

I keep trying to post but first I have to read all the posts and then I end up sidetracked on something else and never get around to posting. So I’m trying EARLY today. Last night I made tuscano soup for dinner. That former pea’s recipe, the one who was a baker in upstate NY, I think … can’t remember her pea name. Excellent as always. Today we are going to a lunch event and dinner will probably be more tuscano soup. DD is arriving on Saturday for a week but I’m leaving next Thursday for a crop. She will have the house to herself for a few days.

how are you doing? Did you start your new med? She did not prescribe a new med, but rather a doubling of two medicines I already take. One an antidepressant and one an anti-psychotic. So I was able to get off the phone with her Monday night and take the corrected amount of antipsychotic with dinner and going forward. Same with the anti-depressant that I take in the morning. So far, I feel pretty good (like I've got some momentum) and I'm sleeping again. I just went right now and picked up the new higher dosages. He's having these really vivid dreams and hallucinations and not able to really tell them apart. He's very emotional today and the doctor is recommending that he go on an anti-depressant so we'll talk to his doctor about that. I want to tell you as someone who has had hallucinations that it is very scary for the person having them. Please reassure him that he is OK when it is happening. And note that he might be even more sensitive to things going on around him that might feel chaotic (like hospitals). Just a tip from a person that's been there. I have one more report to get done today but I'm close. So that's been good too. Work has been moving for me this week and I always do better when I am busy. Tonight I'll have dinner at my mom's house. I think she's just ordering pizza.

Good evening all, Today was the last day of our vacation program, so we planned a party and invited the parents to come back a bit early. The children helped prepare the food and set the table. We dyed eggs and then decorated them with faces and serviettes to make bunnies. We co oked donuts and waffles and made fruit and cheese skewers. Once the parents arrived, a couple of kids stayed at the counter while the others were waiters. They were so cute - they wrote a ‘menu card’ and took slips of paper with them to the table to take orders. We taught them to use the coffee machine - not hard - and froth milk - a bit harder and they did so well. I am exhausted but so pleased with the week we’ve had. Of course, the €600 that’s going to hit my bank account in the next week doesn’t hurt! A couple of photos - I can’t show a lot as many have the kids in them Now we are heading into the four day Easter weekend and I’m looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and getting back to the knitting I’ve neglected all week. Dinner tonight is pasta alla Norma - I’m using shell pasta and the sauce is eggplants in a slightly spicy tomato base.

Hi all - I woke up feeling human for the first day in a while. Fortunately I seem to be bypassing nausea and some of the worst side effects of chemo but fatigue, light headed when upright and elevated heart rate leave me in a zombie state. I feel like I have enough energy to tidy the office for my sis to use when she comes in next week, but might have to do it in 15 min spurts if the heart rate gets too high. I do have a couple bills and insurance things to take care of while my brain is less fuzzy and lab work for tomorrow's infusion. DH is working today but will come home to drive me because no one (especially me) wants me driving while light headed. The option to lie down isn't there when at the wheel. Another sign I'm having a good day is it started with cleaning the fridge of dead & dying produce. Poor DH is struggling with figuring out dinners. Last time we went through this I coached him on making a 3 day plan, but he seems to have forgotten everything other than making sure there is peanut butter banana toast for me.

That former pea’s recipe, the one who was a baker in upstate NY, I think … can’t remember her pea name. Excellent as always. Her pea name is Squillen. It's her Tri-tip roast recipe I use and think of her every time. I was sad when she left the board.

Hi all, just tip-toeing back in. I have been and still am a grumpy mcgrumpypants and I just haven't felt like being all blah on here.
My car, that died last Thursday afternoon, now has a diagnosis and thank goodness is something covered on a new extended warranty thing from Subaru. My mechanic told me I am better off getting it to the dealership instead of him getting the part and fixing it. It's a rather costly fix. This will still be costly as I will have to have the vehicle towed almost 60 miles. And while I don't want to think of that cost, it will not be as much as the actual repair. So I'll figure it out.
In all of my woe is me, I have canceled Easter. My ODS has service he wants to attend both Friday night and Sunday morning. With me being in the choir, I also have services on Friday and Sunday. This leaves Saturday. They wanted to meet up about halfway and I told them I am a little gun shy with cars at the moment and with DH's car not driving like I would like prefer, they can come here or I am good with canceling.
Dinner most likely is going to be my leftovers of "beef" and broccoli. I used soy curls as a meat sub and it was fabulous. I made it Monday night, will it still be ok tonight?

Now we are heading into the four day Easter weekend and I’m looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow and getting back to the knitting I’ve neglected all week. I would love for this to be a 4 day weekend. Oh the fun I would have! I woke up feeling human for the first day in a while. Fortunately I seem to be bypassing nausea and some of the worst side effects of chemo but fatigue, light headed when upright and elevated heart rate leave me in a zombie state. I'm so sorry fatigue has been a side effect of your treatment. That husband of yours better get his dinner act together or we peas will be over there to get him! In all of my woe is me, I have canceled Easter. Honestly, I would like to do the same. But Jeremy wants his kids to come for a visit. So we will make the big dinner.

DH and I went out for breakfast and then did a couple errands. I had to get an oil filter so DH can change the oil in my car this weekend. I also took mom to the grocery store this afternoon and now going to do some reading on the deck. It’s finally a sunny day with the temp about 14C.
Supper will be grilled burgers and sweet potato fries.

Well, I don't feel like life has slowed back down yet. It will take me a week or so to get back to "normal". The good thing now is clients are now on my time versus me being on theirs. This was a strange season. In all of my 31 years of doing this the only one stranger was 2020. People would come in and want to discuss politics and tell us why they should or shouldn't file their taxes. It was really stressful on my employees. I will shut down all my offices next week so my supervisors can have a much needed week off.
I am sure I have missed so much on here. I hope everyone is doing well. Currently, DD is not speaking to me. She hasn't since the end of January. All over a text I sent. No one else had an issue with it except her. She doesn't realize it but her siblings are tired of her drama and about ready to cut her off. DH told her she can cut me off but she will not cut the DGD's out of our lives. She won't do that because she needs our help too much...
DH and I are headed to Costa Rica next Friday. I am so excited. I have so much to do between now and then. I would like to go shopping but if I don't I have stuff to take. The day after we get back, DH has a nephew getting married. It is an outdoor, formal wedding. Now for that, I have nothing to wear except a long dress I wore to a niece's wedding over a year ago. It might have to do.
I have sucked at eating proper meals the past couple of months. Time to get back on track.

Hi dinner peas! I had the morning off and puttered around getting a bunch of little stuff done here, plus doing some dinner menu planning with my SIL who is hosting Easter dinner. I went to a different SIL's last night for dinner (she lives really close) - I had needed to go out to pick up an RX and texted her that I was going to stop by and bring her some things I picked up at Trader Joe's for her when I was "up north" (near our old house) last weekend, so her reply was "wanna just stay for dinner?" so of course I couldn't pass up that offer! With DH and DS out of town on their fabulous trip she knew I needed a little sister time and she had already made dinner. Plus due to weird scheduling of "life stuff" with adult kids I won't end up seeing her on Easter - she'll be helping her youngest move about an hour south of here, where she'll be closer to some of her siblings...all good things of course but I'll miss their family on Sunday.
For Sunday I'm making carrot cake (my family doesn't love it but SIL's does) and bringing wine and green beans. No deviled eggs (or any other egg dish) this year!
Tonight I'm making lemon chicken which will get me through the rest of the weekend.

cadoodlebug, today's meme cracked me up! Also, I always sleep with a sleep mask - it's made a huge difference in my sleep (both quality and length) since I started using one consistently about 2 years ago.

Y'all! I can't say I am in tears yet but they are close. The Subaru dealership is covering the cost of the tow under the warranty claim. They are bringing me a loaner, even though I have a vehicle, which will make pickup of mine so much easier when ready. They are taking care of the other 2 recalls that are on the vehicle. AND they are doing all of this today, in about an hour and a half. It is nice for something to finally be going right.

naby64, you need a huge break and this is just the start. It's about time for things to start to go your way. It's OK to cry and it's ok to share your feelings here. bc2ca, I'm sorry to hear that you're back on chemo. May it do it's job completely and get rid of all traces of your cancer. Take care of yourself first.

Just got back from visiting my dad. He's doing much better today and knows he's been hallucinating but they seem so real. I have been in his shoes and had a month that I was hallucinating in the hospital. Hopefully, he'll be able to come home tomorrow.

The day MIL asked me to sit with step-FIL so she could go to an appointment, she failed to tell me he was hallucinating. A few days before he died, we were there moving furniture to make room for a hospital bed and dh found a loaded and cocked handgun in a table right where he had been sitting that day (in addition to multiple other loaded guns throughout the house.) Not to say your dad has that, but Id hide anything he could harm himself or others with

naby64.. I love my subaru dealership.. they take good care of me.. and I had to do an emergency 4:30 pm friday afternoon stop at the subaru dealership near cadoodlebug and they were fantastic and didn't charge to check things out.
we are going out to dinner and taking out our friend who watched the dog while we had our two day weekend away. we got the suitcases out of storage today. I picked up a old wood baby gate for our patio from the local thrift store. we also got the skis after they had a sharpening and summer wax put on them.
I washed the down ski coats and gloves today.. getting everything ready to put away for the summer. tomorrow dh is getting the car detailed.. so I will do some cleaning and pack for the trip home. it snowed off and on this morning.. dh said the town 500 ft lower and 5 miles down valley actually had an inch of snow on the ground.
boy hugs for everyone!!
